BEST STAR WARS GAME OF ALL TIMES BUT BEWARE!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 3

This game totally awesome and extremely adicting. Space battles are cool, jedi are cool(go to instant action, Mos Eisley and assault and youll get to play either as heroes or villians), rise of the empire is really cool but some missions are hard.
Yes its a good game but there is a problem... dont play it for more than 2 hours a day(at least withought letting it cool down for 1/2 hour) or it may have the chance that youll experience HUGE GLITCHES like not being able to spawn, music repetition, or other technical problems i've heard of( just go to gamespot and youll see).
I recomend you get it if you are a star wars fan since its the best star wars game i've ever played in my life(also the most chaotic and explosive)or even if your not, its a cool game to own. Or if you have an xbox, get it for xbox, DONT GET IT FOR PC, otherwise beware of how long you play it or it may ruin yor PS2!!!

Wee bit too much

Building on the previous reviews: I'm going to lay out what bothers me about the game. So far, overall, I wish they'd just made an expansion for Battlefront I instead of redesigning the interface. Make no mistake, the game is good, but they made a lot of changes they really didn't need to which have subtracted from the enjoyment of the game.

1: Space combat is really hard. Maneuvering is not intuitve at all, but I'm sure that after three or four hours I'll get the hang of it and start having fun with it. As is, I just try to land on the enemy battleship before my ship gets destroyed.

2: Graphics: Text on screen for standings at the end of a battle is blurry. I use top quality cable and have adjusted the settings on my TV, but to no avail. It's just text. Why would they leave such a simple thing in such poor shape?
Also, seeing opponents in the distance is very hard because the screen is so busy. Detail is good, but not seeing what I am trying to shoot at isn't fun.

3: Combat is not as fun. The autoaim function behaves obnoxiously compared to the first game, and the status bars fopr your character are now at the lower left of the screen and your opponent's is at the top. The original Battlefront display was much clearer and better looking. Plus, what happened to being able to reload when you want to? It seems to make you empty your clip before you load a new one. Very obnoxious.

4: The 501st campaign is very cool. Great fun.

5: The book included with the game could have a lot more detail. How are the hero points used? What can I do with them?

After playing BF II last night for a few hours, I can tell that I'm going to be loading up BF I on the internet as much, if not more than BF II. It's a good game, make no mistake, but could have been so much better if they hadn't felt the need to tamper with what worked.

okay.........but not the best game

this game is ok...but battlefront 1 is better.battlefront 1 is better because you dont have to unlock people.for example to unlock the dark troper, droidika, the megaguard and others you have to [no cheats] earn points to use them.some bright sides are theres new ep.3 characters, space battles, and you can play as jedi.if you are going to buy this game at least wait for the sale price.

Same Game With Some New Twists

The game itself is fundamentally the same as the original. You take part in major combat operations and bring your side victory through foot and vechile combat. In the new version, we see an increase in the number of maps, character types and Jedi (calm down fanboys/girls). What does this mean? Not that much actually, for the first game was not that inspiring.

What is good? The new additions of course (minus one element I will address later)! The new troop types are fun to try out and the new maps are very detailed. Single player (campaign) mode is much more engaging and attempts to tie all the battles together. Jedi...
Well there are Heroes in this game which are attained through doing heroic deeds (ie: killing people, taking command posts, etc). You can temporarily play as a Jedi, Sith or other hero (like Boba Fett), and the time period is dictated by how you fight. If you go postal and butcher the enemy, you will play longer as that hero, but if you become cannon fodder, the event is quite short lived. Lastly, the improved AI makes the game quite a bit more challenging, but let us not forget that AI is still AI. It is only fun for so long.

What is lacking? Well let us start with the problem that plagued the first game. Replay value. Unless you are playing this game with a friend (or online for lack of a better friend), this title will grow old quite quickly. This occurs despite the designers attempts to add more content. How many times can you shoot a droid before it becomes lame? About ten-thousand, but that is besides the point. Secondly, the graphics and controls seem rushed to meet the released of Episode 3. Movement is clunky and stiff. That being said, aiming is a chore sometimes as well. Try sniping. It is very difficult to shoot well. The graphics appear to have been tightened a bit, but any enjoyment of that is sucked away due to the chaotic nature of battles. Explosions literally screw up majority of your shots, and one's ability to take in the beauty of the game. Lemme guess what you are thinking, "war is chaotic." Yes I know, but war is not fun either, and we pay 50$ a game to have fun. My last major complaint is one of the game's new additions. Space combat. This is the sum of all my complaints. Terrible controls, graphics and lock-ons issues make these missions purely painful. Fighting from ship to ship is a bit over the top. You have two bases per map and in each there is a hangar, control room and maybe two other rooms. Not much too these levels.

Bottom line?
Rent this puppy or play at a friends house before committing yourself to a game of this nature. Lack of replay value makes this game a bargin bin gem in under three months. If you must play this game? Have online. I never tried it, but I will say this much. The game makes online good, and not the reverse.

This game is great

This from a 36 year old Star Wars geek. No, I've never dressed up in a lame SW costume and wasted a week of my life in line for Attack of the Clones or anything like that. I'm just a PS2 owner with a full-time job who, occassionally, feels the need to blow stuff up via video games.

This game is a lot of fun. It's hard, which is good. The multiplayer is great (broadband). I don't buy a lot of video games, but I bought this one. It's a good-un. If you play online (gamespy), look me up. My name is Darth_Tater.

Greatest Game Ever!

This is the greatest game ever. Bar none. The only problem is it isn't for Gamecube. Oh well. I'm going to get a PS3 when it comes out.

Don't listen to jerks who don't like BF2.They don't know how great a game this is because they probally only played it one time.Although space fights are hard it is still fun to fly into enemy hangers and steal thier ships.BF2 could of had more jedi/sith but the game is still great.BF1 was good but it lacked the space fights and heroes/villains.All and all a great game but try the first before you get the second game.CANT WAIT FOR BATTLEFRONT 3!!!

An Incredible Disappointment.

Think about what you liked about the first game.
Being a ranking officer in the clone or droid army and giving orders to troops. Having friends cooperatively play against the computer with everyone having a readable minimap. Being able to play Droidekas right off the bat. Easily navigable environments.

That stuff isn't in this game. Minimaps are miniaturized to the point where you'll need a big-screen tv just to understand them. Fonts are garbled or tiny. The enemy AI is jacked way up, but you can't give orders to your troops to lead them. Even playing as a Sith or Jedi isn't that entertaining. Anyone who liked the first game should rent the sequel before they decide to buy it. Odds are they won't buy it after seeing what the sequel is really like.

Awesome game

This game is a must have! Much better than Battlefront I, a feat I thought could never be reached. The online play only enhances your experience. The addition of space missions (which are optional; a nice touch by Lucasart) gives you the real feel of Star Wars. GET THIS GAME!!

Quite an improvement on it's predessessor.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this game, but the AI isn't as good as it should have been. I got this game the day it was released, and I must tell you. You WON'T be dissopointed. It's improved on the first game in every way possible. You really can't go wrong with this game. Playable Jedi:New Planets:Space Battles:New Troops:Story Mode:ETC. Still, some of the gamers of Battlefront 1 will probably think this game is the same as the orginal, because it's sooooooooo simalar to Battlefront 1 that it's funny, but has been improved on soooooooooo many levels. Lets put it this way,It's Battlefront 1 on steroids. LITERALLY!!! The gameplay is quite alot like the firt, but to me, it never really gets old! I hope others with the same apinions as me will enjoy this game and I hope you found my review informative.=)
