Puts Road Rage to Shame

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 6

Just playing the tutorial I knew this game was 1,000 times better than Road Rage. The humor is all there. I've never quoted lines from a game with people at work before. Ralph - "One, One, One, GO!" It's like watching brand new Simpsons episodes. This is THE game that made me actually buy a PS2.

A MUST for Simpsons fans

This makes Road Rage look like childs play. Awesome dialogue, amazinginly detailed (and large) town of Springfield.

What's not to like? I can't get enough of Homer's quips as he runs around in his tighty-whities looking for pop machines to kick.

Entertaining

I got "The Simpons: Hit and Run" for Christmas not knowing entirely what to expect (the reviews are all over the board). Here is my take on the game. H&R is a funny game. It is one of the few games where I have actually laughed out loud. It's great to see how much of The Simpsons world the game creators actaully put in it. Sometimes you have to explore every nook of the level you're in to find some of the stuff, but it's well worth it. People aren't kidding when they say that missions in the levels get a bit repetative. They do, especially the race against the clock style missions. I personally find myself still enjoying racing my car around Springfield each time, though. My wife, who is not a gamer by any means, actaully enjoys this game. It is only the second game that I can get her to play (the first being Tetris). Missions do get hard quickly, but after exploring the area and giving the mission a little thought, the impossible becomes easy. If a game was too easy, no one would want to play it. I don't have a problem with any of the graphics in the game...(after all, it's based off of a cartoon... I'm not expecting real-life ray-traced images here). This game is not for children. Their is some minor language used in the game, and as I said before, the difficulty increases quickly. I love playing this game, and if you give it a try, you may too.

Eat My Shorts, Grand Theft Auto!!!

Whatever the company is, they have the ultimate amount of game rip-offs using a tv show license (Crazy Taxi, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) but now they have Grand Theft Auto in Springfield which is the greatest idea of all game adaptations. The game's very enjoyable but to get the full experience you must know everything about the Simpsons and seen nearly every episode like me. So with that, I must say that if you aren't a master of the Simpsons you will not understand 50% of this review. The sound is great and the voiceovers are extroardinary and made of mostly original dialogue. The music is awesome with very innovative remixes of the theme music. I especially love Apu's Arabian car chase mission theme. The graphics are spectacular for a tv-based video game. It literally looked like something out of a Final Fantasy game. The reference to the show are sometimes hard to find (the Tomacco field, Stonecutters' Lodge) but someone whose very observant will laugh in amazement that all that stuff was in the game. The cars are also very familiar (The Homer, Homer's dream car; Martin's infamous Honor Roller, the infamous Plow King) and each have stats that help you decide which one to use for which mission. The outfits are even more outrageous like the outfit of Bart's evil (Halloween Episode) brother, Hugo; and Homer's lol Evil costume ("I am evil Homer! I am evil Homer!"). The gameplay is great because the characters are always saying something really funny from one of the episodes (Lisa-"I am the Lizard Queen!") and now you can walk on foot and go inside all your favorites places (Kwik-E-Mart, Selma and Patty's workplace at the DMV). Although the character's lips don't really move the right way and they have limited physical expressions, the environments are stunning, detailed, and stay true to that of the tv show. Any fan of the Simpsons must buy this game. What are you waiting for! Go now. NOW!!!!

It's good for a rental, but that's it.......

The Simpsons: Hit and Run is a decent little game. It's a GTA clone that's for sure, down to the car theft and the missions. But if you were looking for a family alternative to GTA, this is it. They don't even show the characters stealing the cars, they just magically appear inside of them + there is no blood, or any of that stuff when you hit the civilians in the game like in GTA. The graphics are pretty good, and the soundtrack is excellent with some very good musical themes and best of all, voice acted dialogue from the TV characters themselves! But, the game is lacking overall and is frusturating. It's very short, and you could definitely beat the story in a few days. There are lots of extras, but they're mainly just gimmicks to extend what is otherwise a very shallow game. Worst of all, almost every mission consists of this: Drive to some random location, talk to some person, and go pick up something before the time runs out. Many of the missions consist of multiple parts so mess up at all, and you are forced to the very beginning. It's very repetitive, very linear, and very frusturating. If you can rent this game for a few bucks, it's worth a laugh, but don't buy it: it isn't worth it.

This game looks like it's going to be amazing.
It's been compared to Grand Theft Auto only it's set in the town of The Simpsons. There are a range of missions and you'll be able to travel by foot and vehicle.
I'll definitely be buying Hit and Run.

if ign likes it its gotta be good

i know what you are thinking: havent all the simpsons games to date been absoutely horrible? well not to fear because this could be the game that changes it. i don't actually own the game but i'm getting it this weekend (actually i'll probably have it by the time this review is posted), but the the source i'm using to grade it out is ign.com. in case you have never been to ign you should go!!! they're the best and most trusted resourse around (have any of you seen halo lately-you know with that little gold sticker that says game of the year? well thats from ign). anyway, ign gave it an 8 out of 10 which is really quite good but you should really base what they think about it on the summary of the review they gave it.

It's almost impossible not to love, or at least passionately admire, The Simpsons Hit & Run. In the case of their tragic videogame history (minus the mind-numbingly addictive arcade game of early '90s fame), this one finally stops the hurt.
Hit & Run may have swiped nearly all of its gameplay ideas from GTA, but the combination of the vast Simpsons universe liberally applied to the GTA formula is pure brilliance. The game is true to the Simpsons TV show, the voice actors all nail their lines, the writing is sharp, hilarious and it catches you off guard again and again, and the gameplay is expansive, surprising and endearing. If you must own a Simpsons game, this is the one. If you have been dying to own a good Simpsons game, but have been cheated in the past, this one's worth it! If you're missing the thrill of GTA this year and want something, anything remotely similar, get this. And if you're just plain smart and you enjoy smashing things with your car, well, heh, yeah, just get this game already.

well that was ign. the best games authority. period. i'm not writing this review-i'm just delivering the news.

best simpsons game ever

I just got the game and it is very fun. You get to play as homer, bart, lisa, marge, and apu. I just finished the first homer levels, and I'm at the bart levels. I can't wait until I finish the game. The homer levels are easy. Bart's are a little harder, especially on the sixth mission. This game is a must have for any fan, and I'm not kidding! I recommend this game to everyone.

Best Simpsons game out there, BUT.......

First off, this is By Far the best Simpsons console game I have played. Basically, it is a "Simpsons-Grand Theft Auto" game. The environments are huge, you do not have to follow the story in a linear fashion, and there are plenty of side-missions/stories to explore. The main story about aliens is kind of weak but it moves along nicely.
If you like the Simpsons, then this game is a "Must Buy". However, after an hour or two of basically racing other characters and following moving vehicles and smashing them to pick up lost items, it becomes apparent that basically no matter which character you are controlling or which mission you are currently on, you have done it already.
The graphics are excellent and the game controls are also very solid. There are plenty of Simpsons gags and original voices to be found and you will find yourself smiling at references to specific episodes. Unfortunately, in the end, it seems like EVERY mission is simply a "chase and collect" task that you have already done a number of times. In spite of the repetitive nature of this game, it will bring a smile to the face of true Simpsons fans and even though it is not perfect, you will find yourself playing this game to it's end.
