I have a hp pavilion (most idiotic pc ever created by mankind) pc with 500 mhz p3, 64mb riva TNT graphics card and 128mb of ram and I was still able to enjoy this game. Yes, I had to shut down every single program to let this game eat up my system resources, and yes it was so slow that I could practically count the frames on the screen as I flew the cesna over a night shot of las vegas. But the intensity! the magic!! woohoo! this game rules!@!@!

Just about 2 years ago, I bought Flight Simulator 2000 Standard Edition. I played it over and over every day for around 3-5 hours a day. Especially during summer. I learned lots of things from the game. Now, I'm in a Flight School. I feel very confident flying the Cessna 152, because I know what I'm doing. Flight Simulator 2000 helped me learn lots of stuff. My instructor, Zac, is impressed by how good I am flying in real life. I'm only 14 years old and already know things that people usually take about weeks to learn and remember, all because of FS2000. Flight Simulator looks great it is fun. Now that this game is coming out, I cant wait! I just cant wait. I... Im just waiting for it to come out. Hopefully with this Flight Simulator 2002 my real life aviation skills will rocket up and I will get my PPL in no time!

I was unbelievably anxious to see if Microsoft would finally produce a product that was not full of bugs and would do the flight world some honor. I have to say I disappointed once again. About ten minutes into the game, I got nothing but non-stop blue screens and error codes (mind you I have the most current drivers, and a very capable high end home built system). The Microsoft knowledge base had no matching issues with FS2002, so I was forced to return it. It looked great for the first ten minutes. For those of you possessing a system that will not conflict with FS2002, I recommend it based on other reviews, but be prepared for typical Microsoft bugs.

The best sim out there?

Of course! As usual, Microsoft did agreat job on this sim. Anyone arguing with that simply expects more than a sim, they expect the real thing... well folks it ain't the real thnig (yet...) so content yourselves with hugely improved frame rates (compared to fs2000, on the same system, fs2002 runs at least twice as fast), improved graphics, buildings and trees anywhere in the world, more planes with better design, and fairly realistic atc.

The only disappointment is the ATC. As a real pilot, you have a huge library of requests but in fs2k2, you have limitations... maybe microsoft will come out with a patch and improvements. Or maybe an add-on from a company will be released...

I still give it a 5-star rating because it uses the best design programs out there. It definitely is "as real as it gets!"
Go get it!

It keeps getting better and better

I first "flew" flight simulator on a Compaq luggable portable computer with an amber screen. It was great then, but it is several orders of magnitude better with the latest release. Just about every airport and navaid is represented. It isn't really a game, but if you like simulations you've got to try this one.

If you want to be a real pilot this should help a lot. Even if you never set foot in a real plane though this is a lot of fun. It is the only "game" on my computer that never gets deleted.

...but I ain't got wings.

FS 2002 is a serious simulator. That said, this simulator is a real achievement from the folks at Microsoft (like 'em or not). I have gone through most of the training lessons, and I can tell you that they are thorough. I have two friends, who are real pilots (I'm not), that are amazed by the knowledge I've gained without leaving the confines of my study or risking a real-life bad-weather landing. So impressed that they each ran out and purchased a copy.

The simulator includes numerous detailed aircraft, thousands of airports, amazing graphics (definitely need a good accelerator and lots of RAM for this), detailed downtowns (I live near Denver and it's spot-on), real-time weather conditions, customizable weather conditions (for practicing your instrument landings), and a ton of lessons that will let you talk-the-talk with real pilots. I've played this one for hours, and I really haven't scratched the surface. If you're even a little interested in flying, buy this game.

Exelent Game
