I've played all the way through this game and unlocked almost all of it's secrets, but as usual I'm here to clear up the rumors and give you the plain and simple truth. Back in 1999, I played a pokemon game for the first time, that game was "Pokemon blue version" for all of you who didnt already know, "Pokemon leaf green version" is a remake of that title. Of course, it's had quite a few upgrades, but I'll cover that later. Here's the part where I tell you the truths and lies about this game.
Firstly, it's true that the legendary pokemon "Deoxys" is in this game, but dont get too excited yet. You cant get to Deoxys unless you've gone to a Nintendo event and had an item called the Aurora ticket uploaded into your game. It's also true that Lugia & Ho-oh are in the game, but they're just like Deoxys... You need a special item to get them too. Now for the lies... Sorry, but you cannot visit Johto or any other region besides Kanto. Also, the pokemon known as Mew & Celebi are not included in the game.
This is a great game for all ages, especially RPG maniacs like myself! Do you like games like "Final Fantasy" & "Golden Sun"?
Well then, you'll like this game.

Good points: Upgraded graphics, more pokemon to catch, an all new set of areas to explore, new attacks to use, pokemon special ablities exsist, (just like in Pokemon Ruby) and the legendary cat pokemon are in this game.

Bad points: Although the music has been remixed, it lacks the old-school charm that it once had, there are no pokemon contests in the game, you cannot visit the lands of Johto, Orre, or Hoenn within the game, your rival has been remade and now he looks like a total geek, it never changes from day to night, and lastly... You cannot grow berries in this game.
Oh, and one more thing that really urks me... In Pokemon crystal version the pokemon's sprite (image) was animated, and it would move around just like in the 3-D pokemon games, but for some stupid reason... That amazing inovation hasnt been used in any of the newer pokemon games, including this one!

This sounds like a good game so far. I have been a fan since pokemon hit America and I still like it. People think that long time gamers like me who have completed EVERY game, caught every pokemon and stuff like that might not like the game but I think they are wrong. In my opinion this game is going to be great and I would advise everyone to get it. Plus it is bundled with a wireless "link cable". Also I think this saying fits "once a pokemon fan always a pokemon fan". I dont care how old you are.

Pokemon has com a long way indeed now me as a 16 year old and still liking pokemon its amazing how far it has gotten i mean when read and blue came out when i was in like 3rd grade it was a new revolution for gaming the fact that u know now u can catch the pokemon from the tv omg kind of situation and as i got older thwy keept comming out with newer versions and even since elemtry me and my best friends were rivals for life in carrds in pokemon in everything but only one little thing bothers me about this game questions like gary will be ur rival? and why isnt there a johto part of the game(maybe there is and idk it yet)? and will u meet the trainers u played in ur original game in fire red for example u played silver and in silver u had to face ash or as the called him Red in this game will u fight silver and ruby? and this new region what can it be? any many other but se ethats the exitment of pokemon thats is one of the reasons i am still fueled to play it hey the little kid in me still beleives that if u go to the game corener in red or blue and use strenght to get the keys behing the slot machine then go push the truck by the s.s. anne u will find mew or the big pikablu(maril) theory of billy secret garden..well i still love the game and i always will and i will buy every pokemon till they stop comming out. and thus my title veterans like me and others will love this game i mean having that pokemong red(for me) feeling of newness it will be like starting over again in third grade..but one thing concerns me that they made leaf green instead of water blue well y opinion they should have made leaf green water blue and fire red..thats th only downfall to me

What happens when you collide Hoenn, Kanto, and Orre? The most popular game yet! Pokemon Leaf Green and Fire Red will be one of the greatest games Nintendo ever made! This game features tons of pokemon, including the 250 pokemon and a few new pokemon, including Deoxys!! This is a must-have for all the pokemon fans out there who enjoyed the previous Pokemon games!

When Pokemon Blue was released in 1998, it was the impetus for me to buy my first-ever Game Boy, the also-just-released Game Boy Color. I loved my Pokemon like I loved my friends, and that whole year you couldn't have pried my thumbs off my Game Boy. I played the later Silver version, too, but the increased complexity of the game was slightly off-putting to me. Then, when Ruby and Sapphire came out, I said 'forget it- I'm too old for this' (secretly thinking, "What good is a Pokemon game without my favorite Pokemon from the first game, Nidoking?").

But Pokemon LeafGreen has turned that all around. It retains the more sophisiticated battle mechanics of Ruby and Sapphire- personalities for your Pokemon, abilities separate from attacks, plus all the new attacks introduced in Ruby and Sapphire- while eliminating the gameplay complications that those games, as well as the Gold/Silver generation, piled on. There are no days of the week, no night and day. The dizzying array of hold items and the bizarre alchemy of the berry system are held back until late in the game. All that remains is the simple story of a boy (or a girl) and his (her) Pokemon, with some extremely engaging battles.

Everything that was wrong with the original Red and Blue is gone. Gone is the necessity of purchasing player's guides galore to tell you what the different attacks do or what a certain term means. By default, simply pushing one of the shoulder buttons on your Game Boy brings up an intuitive context menu, telling you what you can and cannot do in a certain situation. Plus, the graphics are beautiful. Each Pokemon is rendered with consistent style and flair, with fully realized front view, back view, and menu view- unlike the pre-GBA Pokemon games, where they were represented by icons that maybe vaugely sorta resembled them. The environments are no longer blocky and awkward, and the added touches such as entry screens for special areas and reflections in water are very impressive.

All in all, a great buy for new and returning Poke-fans. The original game is great in itself, and being able to unlock the Gold/Silver-era Pokemon and import the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon is like having two extra games added on to the top. This is all without mentioning the new Wireless Adapter, a 2"-1"-.5" link cable replacement which, combined with the game's simple word-selection safe-chat system, makes Pokemon truly the universal lanquage.

So So Remake

I've been playing Pokemon since the beginning, and I love the recent innovations to the game, however Leaf Green does not bring much to the table. It is a complete repeat of the Red/blue/yellow games, with better graphics and sound. I did like Kanto and was glad they brought it back, but I thought some of the game would be updated. All of the story lines are exactly the same as well, word for word. I actually used my Pokemon Yellow book to help me. One of the only new features to the game is the running shoes, which add much more to the sometimes staggering slow pace of the storyline in Kanto. There is also the addition of the VS Seeker to replay trainers, but it takes awhile to recharge it and you can only battle trainers right near you when you turn it on.

I also found that some of the Pokemon seemed much weaker in this remake, and harder to level. I picked Bulbasaur as my starter, and it took me several tries (at about a level 65 or so) to beat the elite four. I don't remember having that many problems beating them with Venusaur before.

In general, it's not a great game storyline wise, but it's a great addition to anyone who really wants to "catch em all", and the wireless adapter is very important for this whole series of games, as well as to recieve special nintendo events onto your games such as the mystic ticket to get Lugia and Ho-oh.

This game is pretty much the same as FireRed version. But is defintly a better choice becaus LeafGreen has access to more Pokemon. If you have to choose between FireRed an dthis choose this.

As I said in my title this is a radical remake of the Pokémon Blue, Red and Yellow without the faults, like the Misingno that gave you infinit Master Balls, and with the amazing new graphics and islands. You can get nearly all the rare Pokémon like Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Lugia, Ho-oh, Jirachi and Deoxys. I think you may have to go to one of those Pokémon Centers if youwant to get the ticket to get on Deoxys or Jirachi's island. There are extra islands on the game that weren't on Pokémon Red and Blue. As someone before me said there are Pokémon from all the regions and there are on the different islands.

There is also a Pokémon Emerald coming out, I think that is really annoying. Japan has released two great games in one year. Emerald has got moving Pokémon like in Crystal and it's based in Hoenn with Brandon and May. The Pokémon that Emerald is based on is Rayquaza, my favourite Pokémon, but I'll wait. We have to get the wonders of Leaf Green first.

Overall Pokémon Leaf Green and Fire Red are must buys for any Pokémon fan who loves the games.
