A bit repetitive, but genuinely cool, engaging, and challenging.

I'll start off with the less obvious things that make this game great:
-intelligence: Not only is this game amazing in its historical accuracy (which history buffs like me appreciate), but its utterly brilliant in the storyline and execution. Some reviewers have complained about how tedious it is to do side missions to gather intelligence on your target, well that is realistic isn't it? Also, most players have probably not bothered to press the pause button and actually look at the letters, maps, and tips gathered from the side missions... they are filled with tips that make assassinations much more smooth to pull off. They also add to the storyline considerably...
- Flexibility: You can climb practically anywhere that a finger or hand could conceivably grip, so the city is your playground. This allows you to play in different styles depending on your personality... You can play a combat based Rambo approach at street level, or be a cold, stealthy rooftop dwelling ambusher, or a blend of the two...
-Obvious stuff- You can run and jump anywhere, and the sword fights and open ended gameplay make this the best sandbox game since San Andreas. This game has established a new level of realism and will be remembered for a long time to come...

Good sweet lord, buy this game...

This game was the perfect mesh of incredible badassery, great story and fluid game play. The controls were intuitive, yet new and interesting. The graphics were incredible, and the developers did a great job with the technology. You can look straight out across the entire city of Damascus and not a single building gets written out or cast into fog!! ROCK ON! Buy this game. Just buy it or I am sure something terrible will fill the void that this game was meant to fill!!!

All Beauty, No Brains

Assassin's Creed is the new Beauty Queen of the PS3 system. Very easy on the eyes, but no brains. It's looks amazing, and the concept is there, but as you dive in and start to peel off the layers of unmatched graphics you're left with a frustratingly basic level of play, a repetitive and boring story line and little to no rewards for going above and beyond the basic missions (collecting flags, killing special characters, saving townsfolk, etc. yield nothing in return).

The game simply goes NO WHERE. My missions were identical (how many times can you climb a tower, save a citizen, fight of a group of guards and assassinate a character - that's really the entire game!), the maps (while beautiful and the most complex I've encounted in a game) proved to be too monotonous and too few in quantity of them and there were lengthly running distances between locations.

I honestly felt I was sitting through a never ending summer blockbuster, bladder full from 964 ounces of coke, popcorn box emptied and no end in sight.

The game looks as good as the promos. The gameplay is extreamly fun for the first couple hours. But it's a shame the makers took an amazing foundation and put nothing on top of it.

Like Oblivion, you WONT like Assassins Creed

After seeing the reviews for this game, I decided to give it a chance, I love role playing games especially Oblivion IV for PS3, from what I read in the reviews the game seemed to be similar to Oblivion in the sense you had full world play (so it says), After waiting a month, I sold some of my old game to buy this game, let me say, I am very disappointed, the game is very much scripted in its responses and actions do follow a timeline, you have to complete the tasks in order and if one is not complete you cannot start another.

If you like Oblivion IV you will not like this game...

If Sam Fisher and Kratos somehow had a kid, it'd be named Altiar

This game is great, if you know how to play. Recently a patch has been released that, for me, cleared up all the glitches. Now to the game, it is a little repetative near the end, but its free-roaming so you can take a break anytime. The best part is you can be stealthy (taking out enemies with a hidden blade and throwing knives) or go in swining with a sword or shortsword. It has a suprising twist at the end that leaves you begging for more (this is the first part of a trilogy) and is overall, a very good next-gen game.

wayyy tooo slowww!!!

I really wanted this game. I bought Uncharted and assasins creed...First I started playing uncharted and I couldnt stop playing it till the end...then, I started playing assasins and...wow...amazing graphics, amazing sound but its too damn slow!!!. I forced my self to play it like for 2 hours to see if it gets better but, wrong...

Good Game but very unnecessary subplot.

It was a good game and had amazing visuals but there was a completely unnecessary subplot which took forever and sometimes interupted normal gameplay.

Good story, simple contols and all around fun

What this game does it does VERY well. It delivers a good story with immersive play done with a simple control schema. And it is stylish to boot.

If you are looking for a stealth game then look elsewhere. While AC has elements of a stealth game it is not a true stealth game at all, i.e. being seen will not end the mission. In AC you can be stealthy or not.

If you want button mashing combos and kill strokes then look elsewhere. The simple controls in AC will not give you eight button combos or finishing moves. They are streamlined and elegant with your over all most effective combat maneuver being just two buttons plus some good timing.

The setting for AC is beautiful! All the cities have a distinct look and gave me the feel of being there. From the architecture to the crowds I have no complaint about the cities.

I enjoy playing this game!

So, why only 4 stars? Three things factor into this. First is that apart from collecting hidden items there are no frivolous side missions. I am a fan of frivolous side missions. Second was the lack of advanced AI; the AI did not feel next gen to me. Finally, the information gathering missions lack a bit for me. I would have liked more freedom in how I got the information from the person that had it.

Over all I would say this game is a buy.

Boring, overhyped

There are a lot of things that I don't like about this game. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is that the graphics are pretty nice, but not stunning. Well, I guess I would say that I like that you can climb just about anything and that is cool, but the cool stops there for me. I found this game very repetitive, not just in game play such as the saving a citizen always being the same or pickpocket being the same, or eavesdropping always being the same, but just getting to the point where you can actually perform an assassination is the same. This game felt like work to me, and I don't need my games feeling like work. Also, it's very predictable once you get about an hour into it.

If you haven't done so already, get Uncharted. I found Uncharted to be one of the best games I've ever played. It was fun, had great dialog (voice over work was very nice), a great story, great gameplay, decent AI, and is even fun to replay. I think it is superior to AC in the graphics department too.

media sucks
