I had only played three of these tables in real life, Gorgar, Pinbot and Funhouse and these emulations are perfect. I found Taxi and Whirlwind and Space Shuttle to be great as well. Please buy this game even if you have never played these tables in real life. You will love it and it will encourage Crave to make sequels that hopefully will include The Adams Family, Creature From the Black Lagoon, Fish Tales and Twilight Zone. They have so many Williams titles to choose from. I can't believe how little fanfare this great title is getting. I couldn't find it anywhere locally. With all the horrible Wii games getting shelf space this quality title deserves some as well.

Glad I found Pinball!

As a kid I always hated pinball machines, (mind you I grew up in an age where video games dominated), I never knew how to play them properly. Now that I've grown up a bit I've wanted to give them another go, but sadly they are scarce. Enter PHoF. I decided to try this game as many of my buds online were raving about it. I managed to nab one at Target for $15 after tax. I must say that I am glad that I got this game. It is extremely fun and addicting. Out of my three consoles, the Wii receives the least amount of play time, but before I knew it, I had logged four hours playing time...and this is just on the first time playing it!

During the first few minutes of play, it was all as I remember it: I kept losing! But sure enough, after a few minutes you learn how to control the pinball and before you know it, you're racking up those +million scores!

As it was mentioned before, the visuals are a bit blurry on an HDTV, but once your in an actual game, it all looks good. This game appears to be on a limited print as I have not seen it anywhere other than Target; I've already seen it on ebay for high bidding. All Wii owners should get this game!

great game!

Visually great. The ball seems heavy! You get use to it to make necessary shots. I LOVE actual pinball. Funhouse ranks right up there with me. I've always liked whirlwind too. Unlocking Black knight was great and nostalgic but that game gets old quick. Taxi is good. The table goals and wizard goals keep you coming back for more. Then you can turn off the tilt and pick custom balls!! This game is great and I'm a perfectionist

I could not ask for more.

I think this game is a blast and feels like real pinball. The Wii controllers do make a difference. I did not notice the lag that was reported by one reviewer. I love this game.

Outstanding!! Worth every cent! Buy two and keep a backup copy!

This game is AMAZING. The table graphics are dead-on. It even includes little touches like the reflections in the table-top glass as you watch your pinball(s) roll around beneath it. It's nearly as good as standing over the table, down to the little diagrams showing you how many plays you get for a quarter. Outstanding.

The physics engine is top notch, the tables play VERY reliably and authentically (so far as I can tell, I've only been lucky enough to play 3 of the 10 tables modeled in real life). The sounds is incredible, the front-end system of wandering around the arcade is top notch.

The ONLY complaint I can level at this game is the credit system. Credits are gained very slowly and buying free-play on tables is very expensive. You have to spend credits to play the non-free-play tables until you unlock free-play, so you're actually working against yourself if you want to play some of the "better" tables in the collection. This is a small gripe but a valid one.

I picked this up at Target for about 50% less than what Amazon is charging, and I would have paid double. The Wii controls make this game even more intuitive and immersive than it could ever be on the other consoles out there, or on the PC without specialized hardware.

10 stars, if I could. This collection is outstanding. It makes me want to ebay one or two of the tables represented so that I can have them in my living room.

Physics on Spot

I picked up this game after reading the reviews here and I have to say that it did not disappoint. Being a huge fan of classic pinball and being victim to past attempts by various software companies to emulate the feel and physics of real pinball I went in very wary.

First, graphically the game is about on par for the Wii system. That is to say the graphics are good enough to not be a distraction from gameplay. The only problem graphically is not a fault of the designers, but the simple fact that the view for a pinball machine is the exact opposite of the designed view of a t.v., especially a widescreen. If the t.v. were vertical instead of horizontal you could display the pinball machine playing field in its entire glory instead of the occasional scrolling that occurs while you play. I got over this pretty quickly, though, and I think you will, too.

On to physics - once you start playing it is hard to find any fault with the game physics. The ball reacts just like the real life counterpart from how it ricochets off bumpers to how it slows down going up ramps. I've only seen a couple of instances where the ball defied science and trust me, I've been looking! You feel a little funny at first holding out the controller and nunchuck in front of you but when you instinctively nudge the controller to shift the ball away from going down the drain it is immensely satisfying to watch the table on screen respond accordingly. I hope other pinball manufacturers use this physics engine to bring their machines to game consoles. I have NO complaints on the game physics!

If you have ever played real arcade pinball you've lived through weak flippers that can't push the ball up the very important ramps, or had the ball drift from left to right because the balance of the table is off. Or, had one of a thousand other mechanical problems occur like bumpers not bumping or targets not registering. All these physical problems disappear in virtual pinball and now you have nothing to blame for your lousy score - that is except the Wii controllers... You may find you have to rewire your brain to account for the millisecond delay inherent in wireless controllers.

On table selection - They picked a good variety of tables for the collection. I would of liked to see a couple more 70's machines for us old-timers (only one machine came from the pre-digital score era). It was great playing the classics with all the original sounds and voices. They could have tried to freshen up the sound effects and voices but it would have ruined the concept and I'm glad they used all the original audio.

I hope other pinball manufacturers have taken note and realize putting old machines on gaming consoles could result in more quarters going into new machines in arcades! Until then, I'm happy enough for now being able to lay at least a few classics in the comfort of my own home.

Great Pinball Game - Trip down Memory Lane

If you want a pinball game for the Wii, THIS is the one! Do not even think about Dream Pinball 3D.

This game has variety - and the tables all seem to have that undefinable personality that makes you want to play them again.

The controls are logical and easy to use.

The camera angles are well chosen, never do I feel like I lost a ball or a point because of the camera angles.

Sound effects are pretty realistic, and the surround gives you that old-time arcade feel.

The games are hard enough that you feel like you accomplish something to get a good score (no score inflation here - you have to work for the points), but the physics are realistsic enough that you get better with experience.

If you want that pinball experience, and don't have a basement of old machines, go for this - its a great deal!

Own two pinball games

Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection
We own this game and the 3-D pinball game. Of the two, this is our favorite by far. My husband was hooked on Gorgar as a teen and said the Wii version has the same game features as the actual pinball machine. We have younger friends who grew up without knowing the joy of a real pinball machine. They're now hooked on this game and the four of us have great tournaments. My only regret is the number of pinball machines represented; one can never have too many pinballs! :)

This is a very realistic game in both look and feel, thanks to how well it integrates the Wii Remote & Numchuck controls to feel like you are actually nudging a pinball table and operating the plunger and flippers.

My only complaint - and it is a very small one - is that it would be nice to be able to select your own Mii and play with it, rather than playing anonymously. This is slightly mitigated by the fact that you can enter 3 initials when you hit the "high score" board on each table, and these are saved, just like with the real pinball tables.

Now if only Crave would issue their Gottlieb collection for the Wii!
