Excellant gameplay. Easy to learn using the Field Mode to train. Very subtle without overwhelming the player.

Tremendous

Advance Wars for gameboy advance is really fun. It's challenging, but that's what you want right? You don't want a game so easy that you beat it the day you get it. So, if you like challenging games, get it. Also, it's rated e, so your parents will probobly let you get it.

Over-Hyped

I think that this is a fun game for the first few hours, but there is never any change from the repitition of building and blasting units. The campaign isn't very varied and gets dull fast. The map editor is cool, but its not very fun to fight on a map you designed, and therefore know inside and out. If your really into this genre then its a good buy, but if you want a game that provides more excitement, and holds your attention, then pass this one up.

Simple, yet unbelievably fun...

The concept is very simple, yet the execution of the in game menus, options and selections, the graphics, and the playability are absolutely fantastic! I'm having a hard time putting the game down, which isn't good because I have other work that I need to get to. There's not much I can say that hasn't been said in other reviews. If you own a GameBoy Advance you must own this game! Even if you don't like the concept behind it or combat games, the game play will keep you mesmerized. Without question this is one of the best titles for the GBA and it's sure to be an instant classic!

Remember how much fun RISK was as a kid? This is better.

A challenging strategy game that's especially fun when you have a partner to play against (the computer's strategies can be predicted to some degree after a time). If you grow tired of that, you can even build your own battlefields. This is a must-have that will offer fun for years.

Game Boy Advance has become a warzone

Nintendo's Advance Wars for GBA is a monument to strategy based games. Combining elements of Command & Conquer with Civilization results in a captivating action-packed title with enough extras to keep you occupied for a while. If the aspects of war don't intrigue you enough, then perhaps the extensive multi-player system will hold your interest. With the ability to purchase and create your own maps, you can battle your friends from now to the end of time and have each battle be unique. The multitude of units at your command, and the attributes of each one, force you to be strategic and plan your movements. Everything about this game is stunning. The graphics are perfect, music memorable, and all other aspects perfect. Get this game, and while you're at it pick up three other copies for your friends.

Best Turn Based Strategy Game since X-Com

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0

As the title states: this is the best turn based strategy game since the original X-Com game. Be careful with some of the reviews because they might give the impression that this game is like command and conquer or similar games. It most certainly is not. If you have played the original X-com game, you will have an idea of what turn-based-strategy is like.

Some great things of note: the training missions are easy, but very useful in learning the subtleties of the game. As the game progresses, though, it does get quite intense, even for experienced gamers. The artwork is Anime-style and quite good for a little machine like this. Furthermore, this is one of the brighter games on the GBA. You don't have to struggle to make things out like with Castlevania...

I find the control on reflex heavy games a bit difficult on the GBA, so having a turned-based game makes this a very pleasant experience.

If you enjoy complex turn-based (yes, I've been repeating that because it is critical that you like turns) wars, this is definitely the game for you!

A strategy game with great depth!

For once, someone writes a military strategy game that worth playing on a portable console. This game has wonderful depth. There are lots of nuances out how specific fighting or support units work, how they interact with terrain, and lastly effectiveness agains other units. Replayablity is great. You can play the same maps more than once. Some strategy games increase the difficulty by simply giving your opponent more resources. That's not particularly good game design. Advance wars doesn't do that, and apparently the developers of this game took great care in balancing the units, and thus, increasing difficulty is requires more cleverness. Wonderful game. I highly recoommend it.

It's g-rrrreat

This game is very good there is lots of very fun levels for single and multi-player the campaign mode is lodes of fun but it is very hard later on. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is it is almost impossible to beat the last level on easy but then theres a HARD?? it is REALLY hard, but still its a very good game.
