Advance Wars Advances

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 8

Finally, one of Nintendo's most loved games in Japan will ship in America. AW(advance wars) features crisp graphics and challenging(at least the earlier games were) gameplay in a Real time stragey format. You control modern day war equipment(tanks, jets, etc) against at least one opponant, with the point being to eliminate the enemy. Also, it comes in a kid-friendly format, backed by the "E" rating. Don't be fooled though, this game, unlike some critism following Nintendo, isn't just for kids. In Japan, this game is as popular as pokemon(almost) and played by kids and adults alike. When the release come closer, this is a must-see title, and i recomend reading more about it when more information is available.

Appears to be promising

Sounds like the designers for this game took the action of C&C(command&conquer), and put anime art in there.Looks to be very promising for people who like strategy, and war games.

Should be an absolute hit.

A highly valued game in Japan, this game should be great in it's american debut. As a commander, you must control your troops and deploy new ones that will destroy enemies. There are a total of 19 different units that you can build, from the rocket launchers to the submarines and the aircraft. There are other special features, such as Fog of War that will hide units or aircraft that will power them on. After you capture the Headquarters of your enemy and destroy all of their troops, the game is over with a victory under your belt. In Single Player you must play the role of the Orange Star army, and overcome campaigns that focus you against the 3 countries of your region, Blue Moon, Green Earth, and Yellow Comet. There are more special features in the Single Player campaigns, as there are Commanding Officers that will join you with their special powers that could be anything almost. In 2, 3, or 4 player maps, you must stop all the enemies and live to tell the tale. Another Feature is that there are 144 different maps for you to choose from.

The multiplayer on this game is also good. It will be fun to play with 3 different friends simultaniously, a real showdown of skill. A GBA and Game Pak will be required for each of these players however, as this is a very large and complicated game that takes up a lot of space.

Overall, this game should be great, as it will bring a whole new dimension to the GBA: Strategy. If you like Age of Kings or Command and Conquer, this game is for you.

This game is awsome. It has as many four player modes you could think of, and better yet, the scenario editor rocks. There are plenty of units to choose from, 144 levels, plus whatever levels you make.(Which you can trade with your friends) But there is more, as you progress through the game you get help from "Commanding Officers" which can do certain things such as repair all your units or create blizzard weather! One last thing, THIS GAME ROCKS!!!

Thought blowing up tanks in Tank Hunter was cool? Prepare to be rocked and shocked by Nintendo's new GBA game, Advance Wars.
You are the Commander of a army, the Orange Star Army. You have complete controll over tanks, helicopters, bombers, fighter jets, troops, subs, frigates, battleships, and more! Your main objective is to capture the Enemy's HQ, while maintaing your own army. Maintaing an army includes purchasing fuel, and dividing it out among your army. In this game, you will brawl it out in over 130 battle maps, against over 3 opposing armys. Your main rivals are the Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, and Green Earth armys. Some Commanders will join your fight and bring aboard new powers and strengths.
Even after you thought you beat the game, there is much more to do, like create your own battle map, complete bonus training missions, and unlock new Commanders. There is so much more to say, but I can only type 1000 words in this reveiw!

Quick looks:
+ GREAT GAME AND REPLAY FEATURE
+ A TOTLE OF 144 BATTLE MAPS
+ UNLOCKING MORE COMMANDERS ADDS TO THE REPLAY VALUE
+ CREATE YOUR OWN BATTLE MAPES!
+ LINK UP AND PLAY WITH A FRIEND!
- THE BATTLES ARE COMPUTER SIMULATED, MEANING, YOU DONT FIGHT
- THERE ARE ONLY 17 BATTLE UNITS TO CHOOSE FROM...
- IF YOU A WAGE WAR MASTER, YOU WILL BLOW BY THIS GAME

An Instant Classic - Incredible for a handheld game!

I have never taken the time to write a game review before, but I feel it is necessary in this case to spread the word so others can enjoy this instant classic.
I have been playing video games for 15 years and this game definitely makes my top 5 list of games I have ever played. Advance Wars is phenomenal because it does everything a great videogame is suppose to do. It does not have the astonishing graphics of a Dreamcast, PS2, or XBox game but that does not matter. Graphics do not make a game great. Advance Wars is easy to get into, has great gameplay, is extraordinarily addictive, and is 'just plain fun'.
A lot of people write reviews and say, "Just go buy the game". In the case of Advance Wars I can not offer any better advice.
