Brilliant strategy game, in your hands

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

This is a hot game, and you'll have a hard time to put it down. Nintendo has shown an amazing knack of making games that are just way too fun. The game play, from the menu system, guided tours right down to the actual battle senarios keep you glued to the screen in anticipation. This game is truly a stellar game, that is worthy of a console incarnation - and if we're lucky, perhaps Nintendo may be thinking the very same thing. You'll be challenged by fun senarios and a seemingly endless combination of battles and options that make this a must buy for any advance gameboy owner. This isnt mindless fun - you truly need to put on your chess hat to make it work, but its a great learning process that will keep you glued to your AGB. DDG

"Cute Wars" Scores a Perfect 5

Sure, the graphics and themes definitely make the game more like "Cute Wars" but working such a sophisticated simulation into a little handheld is definitley advanced. There's a lot to learn about moving your little battle pieces around the campaign maps, but Commanding Officer Nell is ready to teach you all the maneuvers and give you hyper-cute winks when you do a good job and score an A! The game features a wonderful battery save system that lets you stop on any turn and return to your machinations. Thoughtful, delightful, challenging, and did I mention cute? This game is the best so far on the Game Boy Advance.

A really great little game

I've bought the game boy advance in the hope that one or two strategy games or role playing games would come along. This is the first strategy game I've bought for the console, and I am not disappointed. It boasts an excellent tutorial that walks you through the functioning of each unit and various strategies for success. The game, though intricate, is not very difficult to learn/play. My only complaint, which is slight, is that there is no way to adjust the difficulty in a Campaign game.
Great game, which I imagine would only be more fun with two players. Highly recommended.

Nintendo does Chess

In my all time top 5 Turn Based Strategy (TBS) games this ranks up there with the likes of Chess, Laser Squad and Battle Isle (for those of you who remember).

Being a TBS things proceed in turns. First you move and fire your units then your opponents do there's, and so on. Sounds simple, well it is to begin with, but like in chess you soon start getting wrapped up in complex tactics as you battle for the advantage.

The glory of this title is in it's attention to detail. Whether in the effect of terrain on your units, or how many bullets they have left, or how far they can shoot. All the information you could need is well modelled and easily available.

It also does it all with great style, that means its a very compelling gaming experience. And you can literally loose hours staring at your GBA.

Think I may go and have a quick game before work.

All in all well worth it.

It truely is an advanced war

Advanced Wars is a turned based strategy game. I happen to love this style of game, but unfortunatly there aren't many games that go into this. Sure there are simple turned base strategy with rpg elemetns like pokemon and such, but now you get to command a whole army and in some parts even raise an army to battle. This game will last you for a long time to come. Between secret characters and a multiplayer game, it won't end any time soon. Of course there is the normal campaign mode, where you procede through the game as normal, a training mode to teach you how to play this truely great game. To add to this there is a war room to play all the battles you've played. If this isn't enough there are tons of maps to unlock and you can even build your own. Probably my favorite feature is the multiplayer option. With it you do a multiplayer game with just yourself and ai, or with as many human players as you want. The great part is you can just hand the system off to a freidn after your turn, so there's no NEED for another system to play with a friend! Truely an advantage of this style of game.

one of if not the greatest handheld games yet

Advance Wars: Advance Fun

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

Advance Wars is a game for kids and adults of all ages. With controls simple enough for kids and challenging enough for high schoolers like myself.
Before heading straight into the battlefeild, you'll start training with Nell. After honing your skills, you can head into your campain, or, you could design your own map which can be used in multiplayer or the warroom options.
The multiplater feature proves very immense. It alone could provid weeks of fun. And as long as you have a game pak and gameboy advance, you can battle with up to three other friends.
Are you ready for the challenge?...

The game is really fun. The only negative thing is that you have to go through field training before you can play any missions. Besides that, its a good game. Worth Buying!!!
