One of my family's favorite Wii games

This is just an all around fun game for the family. Easy to learn and play. The Wii makes this even more fun than previous versions. if you have played previous versions then expect the same with the added fun of the Wii controller.

Excellent Game

I went out and bought Mario Kart Wii the day it was released and thank goodness I did.
CONTENT: 32 (16 new, 16 legacy) tracks, 8 cups, 24 characters, and 12 bikes and carts/character. This game doesn't dissapoint
GAMEPLAY: with 5 methods of control, tight steering, 12 player races, 4 player multiplayer and no snaking, it's an A+
LONGEVITY: it takes hours and hours to unlock everything, and with 4 player multiplayer and wifi connection online racing (which is fast and reliable), this game never gets boring.
WII INTEGRATION: The Mario Kart channel and mii integration make this game excellently integration.
ONLINE: this serves as an excellent proof of concept of Nintendo wifi connection's potential and capability, multiplayer is fast, reliable and, unlike SSBB, fun.

That's not to say its perfect through...
-no voice chat during online racing
-the wheel is gimmicky and hard to use
-for the everyday gamer, it is too difficult to unlock some of the content.
-elimination of features (2 racers/kart)

Overall, the game is excellent, the best Mario Kart yet, I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about buying it.

Both me and my wife just love to play this game. Have only tried the online part of the game once. Have to practice more for that. Does not take much time to learn how to use. Get this for your Wii you will love it....

We've been having a great time playing this game! This is a great game for the whole family. We especially like that in this new version we can play with four players in vs. races and all be on the same team. There are a lot of new courses as well as courses you may be familiar with from older platforms (e.g., N64,DS,GNC). The courses from older platforms have been refreshed and in addition to the new Wii interaction model and goodies, the courses have some upgrades that make them even more fun than the originals. As you play you progressively unlock more courses, characters, and vehicles. This adds to the fun! About the wii wheel... it's way to sensitive so controlling your vehicle is very difficult. There may be a way to adjust the sensitivity but we haven't found it yet. In general we don't like or use the wii wheel. Though I'm glad we have one for when the mood strikes us but I don't plan to invest in more.

Classic Gameplay and More

Overall, an extremely fun game. The pick-up-and-play factor makes it ideal for party gaming, yet the game has enough depth and challenge to appeal to the more serious gamer. Motorcycles are a fun addition, offering a different "feel" to the experience. The Wii Wheel is a novelty, and Nintendo has smartly continued to offer multiple control schemes for their titles. Online play works well, giving this title good replay value for players of all types.

On the other hand, if it were possible, I might ding MKW 1/2 a star for conspicuous rubberband AI. Further, some veterans may or may not appreciate the rehashing of tracks from previous games in the series, and competitive gamers may find the power-ups game breaking, limiting the options for "serious" play.

Regardless, MKW is a fine addition to any Wii owner's game library.

Fun Solo, Tough Mulitplayer

The solo races are easy enough to get through, and they are loads of fun. The multiplayer races are incredibly tough. Player vs player and Team vs Team, you have to be GOOD to get top ranking; the AI for the other racers in multiplayer mode is in no way forgiving, most noteably when compared to the same course in single player mode.
I still highly recommend this game, just know that if you and your friends get together to race you shouldn't expect the same results as when you play alone.

Whole family fun.

Not much to say that hasn't been said in the other reviews- our whole family loves this game. It's most fun when you have two or more remotes to play against each other. We did not buy another Wii wheel, one comes with the game and it isn't entirely necessary to have the wheel to play. I prefer having the wheel, my husband and daughter prefer not to use the wheel, just the remote. My son is 4 and is very good at this game, definite fun for preschoolers on up to adults.

Great game for all ages

This is a great driving game! It is very easy to manuever even for my 4 year old. Good graphics and doesn't make you motion sick like some of the other driving games.

Mario Kart: Revamped

At first glance, Mario Kart Wii may seem like more of the same. As a devoted fan of Mario Kart 64, I was desperate for more of a challenge. I found it in this game.

Firstly, you have many more characters and karts (not to mention the addition of bikes) to choose from. It is always nice to mix it up. There are 3 different weight classes. They were apparent while playing the 64 game, but not quite as blatant as it is here.

But the best feature of course, is the online play. If you are like me, and need that extra real life competition and not just a computer, than the WFC is a must. It is also great to play against friends and family members from across the globe.

However, one thing that I have personally found, is that the wheel is not the best way to play. Yes, it is the most fun way, but using the Wiimote + Nunchuk is the most "normal" way if you are used to joystick racing.

This game is 10/10 in my book. I can't wait to see what Nintendo surprises us with next.
