As a long time Karter since the SNES days, I am excited to finally MK come to the Wii. The Wii Wheel should be your only option; it makes the game much more fun. The tracks and characters are extensive. You will have plenty of hours of play, especially with the online component.

My HUGE complaint, as a "veteran" racer, is the rubber band AI. Watch out if you're in the top 5 anytime during a race. You can be hit by shells, struck by lightning and spun out in a span of less than 10 seconds, dropping you to 12th. Meanwhile all you get are banana peels for being in the front. Trust me, you'll want to toss the wheel. The items should be random for everyone and the game should be geared for everyone, not just beginners. The same thing occurs online.

The best way to enjoy is to play with buddies, either via friend codes or locally. By three wii wheels and get to racing!

Not Perfect, But Still a Lot of Fun

I've been a Mario Kart fan since the SNES days and always welcome the newest addition in the series.

There's a lot of good to recommend this game. The tracks are inventive and I love that the designers included some tracks from previous entries. I also love the fact that all 32 tracks can be played in a row, in random, a wonderful hold-over from the GameCube's Double Dash!! game. The same core characters are back along with a few new ones.

There are some odd features however. As everyone else has noted, the Grand Prix can only be played by one person. That's not really a big deal ... except all the extra tracks, characters, and karts can only be unlocked in Grand Prix. Which means that a solo player needs to venture on ahead to make sure the entire game is playable.

The game is also more realistic looking, strangely enough. I miss the full-on cartoon graphics of Double Dash!!. The game however is much more three-dimensional.

The online Wi-Fi play is wonderful! I am not a serious gamer and this is the first game I've played with a Wi-Fi connection and I had initial concerns about ease of use. Happily, connecting to worldwide play is a snap. My only complaint with the online play is that tracks are chosen at random based upon votes from other racers. And people tend to vote repeatedly for their favorite tracks, which means one often races to the same track several times in the evening. (I will admit I am quite tired of the Coconut Mall which seems to be the general favorite of the new courses.)

The computer-controlled players in normal game play are quite vicious, much more so than in other Kart installments. The computer's intelligence is on the line of a Bond villain bent on total domination and will use lightening and blue shells with excellent skill. This game probably has more frustrating moments of "Aargh -- I was about to cross the finish line when the blue shell hit me!" than the other installments, which can be frustrating. But it's always fun.

Overall, I really like this game. I think it carries over the best from Double Dash!! and gives it a great new coat of paint. I certainly see no reason why all Wii owners shouldn't add this game to their collection.

Fun for everyone

I love this game. I even let my three year old play with me in the battle modes. Truly an improvement in terms of graphics and number of levels to play. There is a ton of playable characters also. I like the Wii wheel that comes with it. I also like the fact that Best Buy has additional wheels for only $9.99. The Wii continues to produce good clean games for folks of all ages to play and have fun with.

This is a fantastic addition to the Mario Kart lineup. Being a fan since Mario Kart for the SNES, This is my favorite Kart game since the N64 version. It is really fun and with the Wii, the controls are simple and no one has taken longer than 5 minutes of play to figure them out.

What's amatta you huh?
Well, I have been a fan of Mario kart for a long time and I must say that if you liked any of the previous Mario Karts you will love this one! here's why:

The wii wheel is awsome to use and frankly, the only way to play Mario Kart. I have tryed to play it without the wii wheel and it is just not the same. So, the tracks are fun, the characters are fun, the online matches are fun, the Mario Kart channel is fun and driving Mario around with the wii wheel is the most fun! You can race up to 12 people online from all over the world and race other karters ghost. There is much to do in Mario Kart wii that is challenging yet very fun at the same time, so grab you wheel and hit the tracks as Mario is waiting to pass you by.....

Just plain and simple, it's a game everyone in the family can play, and will enjoy. Older kids may think the game is a little kiddy, but they come around quickly.

Get it!

This is a great game. Our six year old boy is not bored after playing six hours in the span of six days. We now use it as reward for good behavior and completing the home work. Its completely worth to own this game, so far we found, this is the best game after the basic Wii Sports for younger boys.

Mario Kart on the Wii is great fun for up to four players per console. The game and all wireless features work smoothly and truly show off the fun that can be had on a Wii. This game is great for all ages and even mixed groups have a blast ( playing with younger or less skilled players? Help 'em out by picking off a few of "the bad guys" ).

The game itself offers a wide variety of modes and features from being able to select your engine power in races to getting to thrash each other in a competitive balloon popping event that brings up nostalgic reminders of those heady days when roller derby was popular.

Whether you are Grandma shelling out for junior's gift or junior laying down those hard earned summer mowing dollars, you can feel confident that Mario Kart is an excellent game that works spectacularly well on the Wii while being both kid and parent friendly.
