Best Racing Game of the YEAR!!!!

Have to say the game is the best can not stop playing it and love the new tracks as well as the old ones from SNES,N64,NGC,GBA and DS. I like how when you have 3 or 4 players play that there be computer plays and not just four of you like for the N64 one. Now playing on the Net is great a lot but only thing is that I get disconneted a lot but still I do play with other players around the world and love it a lot. I love the graphics and the characters and the music. I rate this a 10. My son only 8 and he beat me a lot already and he loves it a lot. Also like how you can do tricks too for that a challage for me for trying many tricks as i can. I am very glad I got this mario kart and loooking forward to other mario karts in the future. I do really enjoy it and also brings the family together and race and have fun.

Great Game Play

I'm glad I purchased this game. My first impression of the game was that it was colorful and fun. Some of the characters and sounds effects where clearly geared towards children which may irritate some players. For me though, I quickly got used to the silly voices and ridiculous karts and started enjoying the game play.

The drift turn feature is just as fun as in previous Mario Kart games. The motorcycles drift turn very differently than the karts and that gives you options since there are many different karts and motorcycles to choose from. Allowing speed boosts for doing tricks off of jumps was a good idea and that adds another element to the game.

When playing a race, you run over colorful cubes with questions marks to acquire weapons. What weapon you get is random; it's like a slot machine. However, the designers of this game put in place a mechanism that allows last place players to have a higher probability of getting extremely powerful weapons so that they can catch back up to the players who are leading the pack. It's possible to be in 1st or 2nd place position for the first two laps and then end up in last because you get clobbered by a series of attacks by people in the back who acquired super powerful weapons. This can be frustrating. However, the flipside of the coin is that if you have a friend who hasn't played before, they do have a chance to place instead of remaining in the dead last position the entire race. As a result, people who play the game for the first time seem to enjoy it.

Online play is awesome. The only complain is that it takes a few minutes to get logged in and setup before you start the race. Playing people online is much more enjoyable then playing the computer.

Overall a great game. Lots of tracks and really fun game play. I expect the replay value of this game to be very high.

More of the same, but that's not a bad thing.

Mario Kart Wii really is just more of the same Mario Kart goodness. In fact, you'll even know some of the tracks. They've taken some of the better tracks from the other Mario Kart games and tossed them in.

The wheel is a great toss in, and is fun to play with, and the response is much more accurate than expected. Unfortunately, I do find it rather difficult to be competitive with the wheel. I personally would rather play Wiimote and nunchuck. But can you really complain about an extra $10-15 piece that they're just giving you with the game?

The online play is GREAT. A little hinky to figure out the first time (I don't read manuals... I should, but I don't) but after you've figured it out it's smooth sailing. The only thing you don't get from online that you get from racing in the same room is the trash talk from your competitors. I miss it, you may not.

In all, this is a worthy heir to the Mario Kart throne, and a must have Wii game. Put it on your list.

This Game is the best thing since mario galaxy. There are Brand new courses, items, and playable characters. You can preform Stunts, Tricks, And the old courses are improved. In addition to that, the game comes with a cool steering wheel, and you can use WI-FI connection.I highly recommend this game.

To be honest I was sceptical about getting this game and thought about maybe not getting it. That would have been terrible!! This game is so much fun to play and I wouldn't play it any other way than with the Wii Wheel that comes with it. We bought an extra wheel so we could both use it.

This game does not disappoint in the fun factor! From the start of the race until the finish you will have so much fun. It took about 10-15 minutes to get used to the wheel, but after that its been wonderful. The levels are a blast and its really cool that they have brought levels back from pretty much every Mario Kart version (SNES, 64, GBA, DS).

I tested it out last night online and it was a whole new game playing against people from all over the world. It shows you where each player is from before the race starts, so its cool to see you are playing with people from the UK, Canada, Asia, and others. I didn't experience any lag in the 2 or more hours that I've played online.

My Score:
Graphics - 4.5
Audio - 5
Replay - 5
Fun - 5
Controls - 5

You Can Play As Your Mii!!

I've been a LONG TIME Mario Kart fan since SNES - and this installment is a very worthy entry -

One of my favorite features is that you can unlock the ability to race as one of your Mii characters!! It's about darn time Nintendo!! The Mii feature is a very fun aspect of the Wii, but has been completely underutilized - so I was quite pleased by this addition.

Another great feature is the ONLINE PLAY - while the loading time can feel like forever (and they need to work out the friend kinks, as it took my friend and I THREE DAYS to network together) this is a very exciting feature. Being able to race strangers worldwide is very exciting - but I do wish there was an option to invite players you race randomly, but have fun racing with, into your "Friends" network.

One poor feature for me and my friends is the Wii Wheel - The Wheel is VERY hard to control, it works, and I imagine it'd be fun for casual gamers - but to really race some of the harder legs, its too unreliable. The remote and nunchuck are surely the way to play this title.

The unlockable characters, karts and motorcycles are great - but I do wish they could have fit in a few more levels. The retro-levels are awesome, more please! Same with the weapons, the new ones are fun, but they surely could have included a few more.

Overall it's been a real joy to play - and I recommend it highly to any serious NINTENDO fan...

Highly addictive and entertaining!

Mario Kart for the Wii is one of the best Wii games out there. It's incredibly fun and addictive. There are some changes to this version of Mario Kart that is different from earlier versions. There are a lot more characters to choose from and a lot of different vehicles that vary in speed, weight, etc. A really cool addition is that you can now ride motorbikes!

As you play you can unlock new characters and new carts/bikes which keeps things interesting. There are 4 cups that you can race in the beginning but once you get a trophy in all 4 of them you can continue to unlock others (there are 4 others).

Even better is that you can go online and play different people from around the world in versus mode or battle mode. This is so much fun when you don't have someone you can play with at home... all you have to do is go online and you can play whoever you want. If you have a friend that has a Wii you can add their friend code and race each other too.

The only thing that is frustrating about this game is that it seems to cheat like crazyyyyyyyyy! You will be in first place and get hit by so much on the last lap from the AI that it will knock you back to 12th. So this makes it really hard to unlock those other levels sometimes and makes you want to throw your remote at the television screen :) However, that doesn't stop you from wanting to play more... just makes you more determined to beat the stupid thing!

This game also has a lot of older tracks from all the previous games combined. This is pretty good but I would have liked to see some more new ones. The new ones that are on the game are pretty amazing and FUN to race.

I love this game and highly recommend to any Mario Kart fan or Wii owner. You gotta have it! Oh and also- the steering wheel is a must. I thought it was stupid at first, but it really does make a huge difference when you are playing. It just isn't the same when you are playing with just the remote. It makes the game easier to play and may come in handy for a lot of other racing games- and even Sonic. Buy the game and an extra steering wheel [...]...

FUN! I have kids of all ages who have enjoyed this game. I purchased an additional wheel and am very glad I did. The graphics on this game are amazing and the variety of courses and available customization options for your character and vehicle make the game anything but monotonous. We LOVE it. Highly recommend it + an additional wheel.

My family and I have owned every Mario Kart made and we are not disappointed with the new Mario Kart for Wii. Our T.V. hasn't been on for anything other than to play Mario Kart for the last couple of weeks. I like that it has so many tracks and our 9 year old loves that the retro tracks are on there. I am addicted to the on line play. Came in first for the first time last night ( I said I love the game not that I'm good at it ).

I was also very glad that they made it a bit harder to get all the extras. No more playing it for one night and getting all the goodies. So we should get lots more play time out of it before we erase it and start over again.

Only a mushroom worth of improvement, not the gold mushroom I was hoping for

Being a series fan since the original SNES title, I had very high hopes for the Wii version. Nintendo did some things well, and severely missed the mark in other areas. For ease of reading, I'll just list my pros & cons in bullet format.

PROS:
1) 32 different tracks gives plenty of variability
2) online play is finally here!
3) graphics continue to improve from GC's Double Dash version
4) Easy to learn usage Wii Wheel (although I still prefer the CG controller)
5) Still LOADS of fun with plenty of "re-playability"
6) Plenty for advanced mario kart-ers. Loads of new characters & karts/bikes to unlock. Just type mario kart wii cheats into google to see them all.

CONS:
1) 16 of the tracks are rehashes of tracks from previous versions (SNES, GBA, DS, N64, CG) although with improved graphics
2) NO mutiplayer grand prix online! How could nintendo miss this???
3) Online interfacing is NOT as intuitively wasy as it should be. Nintendo should have bought an xbox to see how simple it should be.

Certainly more goods than bads, but the misses are certainly quite notable to those who have enjoyed this series for years. Still, worthy of your time & money. I'll see you online...
