Fans of Trading Card Games will Love This

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 0

For fans of trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, The Eye of Judgment will prove to be a fun and challenging game.

The game is very well put together-from the innovative camera system which works nearly perfectly reading the cards and making the action come alive on-screen, to the challenging game itself with many strategic aspects from building a deck to deciding how to play your hand.

The only thing that may be considered lacking would be a story-mode or more encompassing single player game. But when it comes to trading card games, sometimes an exhausting story can get in the way of just wanting to play a duel. (Some may remember the old PC game of Magic: The Gathering which included a story mode. All the reviews at that time were the opposite-many said they should have scrapped the story mode because players just come for the duels.)

As the other reviewer mentioned, this game and it's included PS3 Eye make a great start to the game. Once you get into it, you will want to get other decks and cards, but that's always been the draw of trading card games, and it's fun to get the booster packs and find out what new cards you find.

If you're a trading card game fan, you won't be disappointed with this game!

easy to play card game

cards are read by the camera and appear on the screen, makes it easy to play.

you get one starter deck, 30 cards, and 8 cards from a booster. the booster had a couple repeats from my starter deck.

it's fun for the first couple hours but you'll find yourself wanting new and better cards.

when you play, there is no storyline or campaign, you can play against the computer or against a friend (you can't out of the box). only get this game if you're planning to buy 1-2 more decks.

Where did the day go?

I opened up the Eye of Judgement today and went through the tutorial and started playing right away. I held off in using the booster pack. I kept it sealed until I felt I deserved the new cards. Maybe I would treat myself if I could beat the computer twice in a row. I honestly don't know where the time went. It had been 6 hours and I hadn't even thought about the booster pack. I was taking a quick break to grab something from the fridge when I happened to see the pack under the box. It is so much fun to see the cards being read by the camera and then brought to life on the screen. I am worried, however, because I want more cards. New cards. Different creatures. Brand new spells. I'm heading out first thing tomorrow for more booster packs, as soon as I play a few hands to get warmed up. Perhaps I can work in lunch somewhere along the way. I am obsessed with this game. If you buy it maybe we can play together on line someday.

Great Game! Forget everyone elses review and read this one.

Being an avid MTG player for over 10 years, I was looking for something new and fresh. I picked this up and haven't put it down since it works very well and I just love the on screen animations its so interactive and highly addicting. For the price you cant go wrong I, the eye is 40 bucks alone your getting a great package deal. For everyone that says setup is a chore or takes to long is being ridiculous and just searching for something to complain about or just really lazy, it takes less than a minute to setup the camera. The costs of cards are a little much sometimes but you can't put a price on pure entertainment!

You'll need friends

Eye of judgement is a very well made game, especially for it's genre and the primary camera involvement it tries to incorperate. The game is Most similar to the card battling game in Final Fantasy 8 and 9, but honestly there is nothing close enough to eye of judgement to give you a good idea of how it plays.
Lighting can be a problem some times when playing, so until you sync up the light setting up perfectly with how your room actually is there may be difficulty having some cards recognized. Once you get past that the game will run intact.
Primary deal is, you need friends. You need friends to practice with, you need someone else in your life to get a deck, otherwise you'll jump into an online match and likely end up with someone much better.
This is much more a game of skill than just a lucky hand draw, so playing and practicing is necessary in order to get good.

I wish Eye of Judgement was more popular... I can Now only find the cards on amazon.com and other online retailers. Target nolonger carries them, and the GAmestops near me only carry a few boosters. It, unfortunately, feels like the card game is dieing. I wish it'd stay up but I can easily see that, unless they release a third update, the game might be almost completely gone from the online community by Christmas time.

For what it's worth, the Playstation Eye goes for about [...]. I got my EOJ for [...]during a 'deal of the day', and so I'll never regret my purchase, the Playstation Eye alone is an Amazing piece of equipment.

More trouble than its worth

The amount of setup is just not worth the little enjoyment this game brings. Plus, cards are incredibly overpriced. Magic: TG is a far more thought out game. More strategy and more fun. Eye of Judgement is a dud.

Eye of Judgement and PS3 EyeToy

What a great product at a great price!
For what most stores are charging just for the playstation eye, you get both the ye and eye of judgment game.

The game is fun.

Having the camera is fantastic.

I have used it to add my image to Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

I can only hope that more collectible card games will come out. I have heard rumors of a Marvel Universe card game. It would be great if they released a Magic the Gathering game for the PS3 or the Star Trek or Star Wars game for the PS3.

A DC universe collectible card game would be fantastic.

Great Game for the price

At first, the only reason I bought this was because it came with the playstation eye and was on sale. To my surprise, the game works surprisingly well and is especially fun with a friend. Takes me back to the days when I'd play Pokemon with my elementary school chums.

Great cards game.

Ok. This game its just such a cool game!cards are well done and coexist pretty well. just as you would expect from wizards of the coast, and set 2 is nice, gives more of the proper strategy of this kind of cards game like Magic. the 3*3 board and goal of the game makes it a little bit short and limits a lot your possible strategies, making them only for short lenght porpuoses... it would have been better if it was like other cards gaming. Overall is just an awesome game, very interesting and also a great deal with the PS EYE..

You don't really need to be a card game player to enjoy.

I have played RPGs for many years but I never even thought about trying a card game. I only bought Eye of Judgement because I wanted a PS Eye, and I ended up really enjoying the game. It took me some getting used to because of my inexperience with card games but once I got the gist of the game it became very addicting. You can play against the computer or go online to battle it out with others.

My only complaint would be that there isn't much of a reason to play against the computer besides getting better at the game. There is no "campaign" for lack of a better word. If you get into the game, you'll probably end up wanting to buy some new cards as well, although the deck that comes with it is not bad.
