Not suitable for rear projection setup

I purchased this game simply for the included hardware. My intent was to use the "eye" as a fun way for my daughter to control some simple children orientated games. The product installed in a snap and seemed to be of very good quality however my initial positive impression was changed once I tried to use it. The inputs seems very slow and any reaction required largely exaggerated movements. I have a dedicated home theater with a rear projector and I assume this is the reason for the very poor performance. I suspect that with a projector beaming light in the direction of the "eye" it makes it too difficult for the device to see the movements. After trying some adjustments I realized it just wouldn't suit my needs and returned it.

More trouble than its worth

The amount of setup is just not worth the little enjoyment this game brings. Plus, cards are incredibly overpriced. Magic: TG is a far more thought out game. More strategy and more fun. Eye of Judgement is a dud.

THIS EYE IS BLIND!!!!! GRRRR. FUN BUT FRUSTRATING!

Ok I really liked this game. I admit it I'm an adult who has played Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Culdcept on the PS2, and other card games in my lifetime. Getting this one was a no brainer once I accepted the $79 price tag. Ouch!! But wait, there's more: you start with cards that are very basic and in order to play online need better cards unless you like getting beaten on regularly. So you spend another $50 to feel like you have a good deck only to find out there are tons of websites with the cards FREE for downloading and everyone you are playing against is using them (come on Wizards of the Coast you couldn't make them harder to reproduce?)
The game is awesome and quite challenging. Games are best played online and can last between 10 minutes to over an hour in length depending on how well you or your opponent play. Make sure you have the time to play and finish the games as if you quit early it screws up your rankings.
Here's the part that sucks the most and why I only gave this game 3 stars: The camera sucks!!! You have to have almost perfect lighting conditions to play it in the daytime! It plays fine at night but if the blinds are not drawn, someone walks by, you place a card in front of the camera, or someone next door to me turns on a light then it stops reading cards correctly. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be one move away from winning a match that you have been playing for 45 minutes only to have the camera refuse to recognize the card you are playing or tell you to reposition an already played card as it can't read it. So here I am running around the room opening/closing blinds, turning on/off lights, moving the mat/camera to try to get it to read a card while this stupid counter is booming off 5...4...3..2...1....and then the crushing "game over"...Do you get the point? This sucks!!
Overall though, an awesome game when it works well. Make sure though that you have some decent cards and that you lighting conditions are perfect BEFORE starting an online game though.

Tried it

I got this game yesterday and tried setting up the interface. The camera and its supports are easy enough as is the setting up of the 9 rectangle mat. However, for a long time, I could not move the scroll beyond the beginning screen that leads to the setting up of the hardware on the system. I discovered that my sixaxxis controller was being over ridden by the Logitech Sports wheel set up- Once I disconected the wheel from its USB connection, everything proceeded smoothly and I had the PS3 playing against itself. Pretty boring for me but I'm excited about the technology. I downloaded and installed the EyeCreate software from the playstation site from within the Sony Playstation, and am playing with this application which shows up under "games" in the Sony menu.

Prepare to spend a lot more!

Before you buy this game, please consider these facts

- you must set up the USB camera and grid, also lay all your cards just to play, even by yourself

- you need sufficient brightness in the room for the grid (where you place your cards)

- the USB camera has to be attached to your PS3 while you play. get some USB extension cords if you plan to sit far away

- prepare to spend a lot more on expensive booster packs once you are bored with the 30 or so cards that came with it (sure, you can print copies of the cards you don't own and fool the camera, but that's a whole different subject)

The Eye of Judgment w/ a playstation eye

Look, this game isn't absolutely amazing, but it is new and interesting. Its probably even better if one enjoys card games to begin with (I actually never play with cards, at least not until this game I didn't). What keeps the game from being amazing are a few things in my opinion:
1- Its a card game which means it has the upsides and downsides of card games.
2- Its graphics are hardly impressive, and the music is a bit too loud for my taste

On the other hand, i think the game is worth buying because
1- its absolutely new, and it functions very very well (in all sorts of light conditions)
2- You get a playstation eye, which is a sexy piece of equipment (and the store has downloads that are compatible with it.
3- The price of the entire package is quite good, considering all the things you get with the game.

I hope this helps.

Enjoy

Fun but frustrating

This is gonna be short. The game is realy cool, and the card thing is innovative (kinda), but the little frustion involved in just set-up makes this game not worth the money, plain and simple. Although if you have some sort of permanent set-up where you don't need to ever move the board and stand, then yeh this game is worth it. It all depends on your situation. Oh, one last thing . . . the online play is really really cool, but I get my @$$ handed to me, so beware it's hard.

Great Fun, Tedious Setup

The game itself is a blast to play, alone or with others in the room or online. There are a decent amount of cards out there to make a variety of playable decks. The idea of the game is really quite awsome, however the setup is a PITA. the lighting is tricky during the daylight and the camera base is too light. These things can be remedied fairly easily, but just a pain. The card copiers take away from the pure nature but that is another can of worms. I like the concept and the game play and can't wait for new card releases.

What a great product at a great price!
For what most stores are charging just for the playstation eye, you get both the ye and eye of judgment game.

The game is fun.

Having the camera is fantastic.

I have used it to add my image to Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

I can only hope that more collectible card games will come out. I have heard rumors of a Marvel Universe card game. It would be great if they released a Magic the Gathering game for the PS3 or the Star Trek or Star Wars game for the PS3.

A DC universe collectible card game would be fantastic.

easy to play card game

cards are read by the camera and appear on the screen, makes it easy to play.

you get one starter deck, 30 cards, and 8 cards from a booster. the booster had a couple repeats from my starter deck.

it's fun for the first couple hours but you'll find yourself wanting new and better cards.

when you play, there is no storyline or campaign, you can play against the computer or against a friend (you can't out of the box). only get this game if you're planning to buy 1-2 more decks.
