Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review (for GBA)

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 1

For Harry Potter fans, it's the greatest game ever made for a game boy advanced. You can cast spells, meet fellow classmates, explore Hogwarts Castle, and go on missions given to you by the teachers. For others, it may not seem so appealing. I've lowered my rating of the game because of its difficulty. The game is quite challenging.

My 7 year old loves it.

Now granted he is new to GBA as he just got it for an erly christmas gift. My compliant is that of the 3 games he got his one is the darkest screen wise. I would advise investing in a worm light if you plan to play this game.

I really don't think this game was as good as it could have been, and could get a little monotonous at times if you make so much as one mistake you have to start the whole part over. There aren't quite enough spells but the environment makes up for that. I would recommend this game to those who wan't more of a strategy/ brain game but not to those who have already played the PS2 or gamecube versions.

Great, but don't buy just because you're a potter fan..

When I first got this game, it was fun, it still is, the first few lessons and challenges were interesting and followed the book well. Unlike the GBC version you can buy your supplies and get on the train, which would be good to have on GBA. The only problem is lastability, I know most people finish it in 2 days (apparently) I've had it for a week and I'm still going.
I don't think people should grumble about the challenges being too hard, because if they were easy, you'd grumble about not enough lastability!
Anyway, the challenges can be a bit tedious at times, but try again, you have unlimited tries, ...
But, I do suggest, not to buy it new, instead get it off ... amazon for cheap, so when you've finished it about 100 times you can sell it back. I bought mine [from a local retailer] for half the price you pay at a shop, and it was just like new!
And, if you do decide to get this game, which i hope you don't just because you're a potter fan, just take a look at Super Mario Advance's ratings, its lowest rating is 4 stars, I suggest this game over HP.
Thanks for reading my review! :)

Not what I expected....

And I don't mean that in a good way. I was looking forward to getting this game for Christmas, but I soon learned it wasn't worth the money. I suppose some of it was slightly enjoyable, for example, I liked to flying thing at the beginnig. But that's about it.
Maybe if you are a bit younger like 12 and under, but I'm 14 and just don't find it thrilling (sorry about my attempt at big words).
To sum it up, I regret getting this game. But it's your choice.

Pretty Fun. Not that much if you are not a fan.

Harry Potter is an okay game. It gives plenty of playtime, decent music, and detailed graphics. You get to use spells, solve puzzles, and fly. The downside to this game is its not fun if you are not a fan, and the puzzles are real hard. But if you don't mind these things the game is okay.

one of da best . 11 year old gamer in da house

Great game and educational. I am a parent of a child who has this game. I like the fact that the game has the children read for clues.

i bought this game, and i'm an avid fan of Harry potter, but i was really disappointed. it's a really tough game to beat, and it's quite frustrating: translation: save your pocket money.

This is a game you should keep away from.

This game is the most horrible one I've played which means it pretty much STINKS. The reasons are it is way too overpriced for something you can beat in an hour, the graphics are like Genesis' and last of all the gameplay and sound stunk! Put this game on your keep away from list.
