The Resurrection of Classic RPG Gaming.

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2

"THE HOBBIT" is what many refer to as a simplistic action/adventure game with many RPG elements, challenging bosses, unique sidequests, and a sufficient replayability value. I call it a rebirth of the classic RPG. I see all the signs: poor story-telling, with more time spent on graphics and action; quirky characters and attempted humor that often comes off as being childish or moronic; and sad dialogue that sounds like it was pulled from a children's book. Obsessive Tolkien fans might be dissapointed; RPG fans may not understand the full story, as little explanation to "whom or what" is given. This game straddles the fence of failures-- but I love it. Many people may love it. It's one of those things you either adore or abhor. It's as if the staff of Vivendi forgot that the game just might have a specific audience. Oh, well. At least give it a try. If you're a casual gamer (like myself), you might enjoy this game. Personally, I don't have enough time or money to sit around playing video games all day long, even if I am a home study student. But little Bilbo (the main character) does provide enough distraction in those tired, frustrated moments to consider renting or buying him. Personally, I'd rent it first, or wait until you see it on a bargain rack before I went out I spent a lot of money on it.

PLOT: Bilbo Baggins, the "hobbit" and title character, joins a troupe of dwarves on a mission to regain treaure from an evil dragon-- but many things go wrong.

Dissapointing

This game isn't what it seems. The only things you fight really are animals. Sure, you fight goblins in the cave where you find the ring and at the end of the game, but otherwise its all wolves spiders and plants. Yes, you fight a lot of plants. the actual fighting isn't to good either. Bilbo keeps swinging his weapon back and forth the same way, which gets REALLY boring. This game is a dissapointment to LOTR. Only get if you are truly completely bored. (In my game theres a glitch that won't let me pass the level with the elves!!)

Pretty Good

Im playing it right now.Its pretty good except for some parts that I get stuck at and it takes me along time to find the cave or place. Also you face alot of the same animals like bees, rats, wolves, ect.Overall though its a great game.

An extreme disappointment

Snoozer... This game is alright, but it gets pretty boring and you can't save wherever you want. I got this game after seeing my friend's X Box version, and I must say, the X Box version is a billion times better. This game is ok, but it is very repetetive and it gets really old really fast having to defeat the same enemies over and over. I am stuck in the Orc cave right now as described in Tolkien's novel, which is one of the things that made this game appeal to me originally. But, it is not the game I was expecting. I did not enjoy this game very much. My reccomendation, Pokemon, because it is a lot better... The Hobbit is not the best GBA game out there, to say the least. Save your money.

"The Hobbit" video game for the GBA is very addictive and has remarkable game-play to offer! This game does not deviate from the book it is based on much at all, which is one reason I like it so much. Action in "The Hobbit" video game for the GBA is very intense and the adventure is exciting! Buy this game! I am sure you'll like it.

Despite being a prequal in the literary word to Lord of the Rings, this is not really an RPG any more than the Legend of Zelda. There is no leveling and that was the only reason I bought this game. Buyers beware!

Not Bad, Not Bad.

This game dosen't look so bad. From what i've read about this game it follows the book pretty well. The book is AWESOME, if this game is as good as the book its got my money! If you look at the cover his sword is glowing blue, that is from the book. In the book when orcs or goblins are near it glows blue. Chances are in this game you will kill goblins, find items(and the ONE RING(see the lord of the rings movie), and kill Smaug the dragon. In my opinion this looks like a great action-adventure game! I gave it 4 stars because i havent actually played the game.Peace out!

BUY IT!

If you like "Zelda" then you most likely will love "The Hobbit" video game for the Game Boy Advance. This game is very addictive, fun, has a lot of adventure mixed with action, and has great graphics and gameplay. It is not too easy, nor too hard. It does get a little strategic at points and can get a little hard (but not too hard). There are a lot of enemies to kill in "The Hobbit" video game so what are you waiting for?! BUT IT NOW! This game won't dissapoint.
