A Wonderful GBA Game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 7

The Hobbit is now the best GBA game I own. In my opinion it is even better than the Zelda games. This game is very addictive, as many people I know have said, and it is extremely fun to play! There is so many enemies to fight in this game. Battling goblins, giant spiders, and other monsterous-beings is just plain fun. The adventure and game-play The Hobbit has to offer is remarkable! I have nothing bad to say about this GBA game title. Buy it! It is worth the money.

Great Hand-Held Adventure for LOTR Fans

Are you a fan of the Lord of the Rings series? Then you definitely need to pick up The Hobbit, to learn how Bilbo found that magical ring.

As you might expect, The Hobbit is set in Middle Earth and involves Bilbo the quiet, country hobbit getting dragged into an adventure by that meddling wizard, Gandalf. Before he realizes it, he's off to help a band of strange dwarves save their treasure from the cruel dragon Smaug.

There's the usual mix of strange mindless quests and puzzles. You fetch medicine, carry messages, and give assistance. But it never gets tedious - you're always learning something new about your abilities and stretching your brain to figure out how to get through a puzzle.

The game is nice in its pathway. You don't waste hours trying to roam the entire map figuring out what to do next. It's usually fairly obvious which WAY to go next, but it's up to you to figure out how to get there. For people who haven't read the hobbit, it's a good way to get a background on who Bilbo is, how the ring was found and what the world was like in the years before the Lord of the Rings series.

The graphics are reasonably OK for a GBA - I did have to complain about the pink insides of the hobbit homes! But still you usually can figure out what everything on the screen is pretty easily.

Not really a game with high replayability, but with Tolkein being so popular right now, you should find it easy to find some friends to trade it with when you're done!

Great graphics, can use items like three different types of walking stick, the Ring, Sting, throwing rocks, firecrackers, and many more. Has lines straight out of the books. A good action, adventure, stealth game makes it an instant classic as fun as Return of the King for GBA.

If you like "Zelda" then you most likely will love "The Hobbit" video game for the Game Boy Advance. This game is very addictive, fun, has a lot of adventure mixed with action, and has great graphics and gameplay. It is not too easy, nor too hard. It does get a little strategic at points and can get a little hard (but not too hard). There are a lot of enemies to kill in "The Hobbit" video game so what are you waiting for?! BUT IT NOW! This game won't dissapoint.

I've been wanting to purchase this game for awhile and I'm so glad I did. I'm a long time Tolkien fan and have enjoyed the "Two Towers" and "Return of the King" GBA games by Electronic Arts. I wasn't sure what to expect from "The Hobbit" but I've been hooked on the game since.

The gameplay - to put it simply - a cross between the book and the Zelda games. If you're familiar with any of the "Legend of Zelda" games, then you'll know what I mean. The gameplay pretty much follows the plot of the book - you meet the dwarves and Gandalf in the beginning, accompany them in their adventures and have to fight some creatures or 'bosses' before the big showdown in the end. Bilbo meets the trolls, Elrond in Rivendell, Gollum, and so on. I love how well the plot, locations and characters are brought to life in this game and I'm even more pleased because it does feel a lot like playing a "Zelda"-like RPG game (which just happens to be one of my favorite GBA titles).

I liked the Electronic Arts LOTR games but those and this are quite different. The visuals are different and in "The Hobbit" you actually are given various 'tasks' to accomplish before you can move on to the next location in Middle Earth. In short, sometimes you come across some characters who ask you to do some things for them and you get a 'prize' in return. Sometimes you have to figure out your way out of places as other characters may give you clues. Bilbo is also very agile little guy - as hobbits usually are. He can climb up rocks and vines, jump over small gaps, go down holes and even do some cute little somersaults. His 'prizes' also increase his wealth or health, or can be special weapons or tools. Killing 'bosses' is not that difficult - it's figuring out how to get out of a sticky situation that can be more of the challenge.

If you enjoyed Zelda, then you'll like this. And, of course, if you're anywhere near as avid a Tolkien fan as I am, then you will love this one. It would definitely be fun for kids and adults alike.

Follows the book somewhat, but was a good game overall. If you are looking for a good adventure game that doesn't take 100+ hours to beat, this is a good choice.
