Good system - Game won't run - no help from support

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 7 / 21

I'm computer literate, have a six month old system with 512 ram, 64mb ram s3 video, 70 gb hd, 1.4 ghz athlon.

This game starts to load the park and then reboots the entire system. Dxdiag passed all tests, uninstall reinstall, reinstall of directx 9, etc. Tried everything, no help from tech (gee sorry).

Forget about unless you just like to take risks.

Can't Wait!

This is a preliminary review based off the demo. The "Pre-Order" and Online Release date IS the 26th of October. The game will be available IN-Stores on November 2nd.

This game is great. The 3D Effects are great. You can ride any ride you put in your park. There are actual ride operators now. The rides have gotten way better and the coaster types have of course been updated. I'm at a loss of words. I loved the first 2, I can't wait until this one comes out.

I love the idea!

I loved how they've changed The game! When I bought RCT Deluxe I
was disappointed. Because it was 2D, and you couldn't ride the rides! But in RCT3 it has incredible 3D graphics. And more rides you can ride!

Too many crashes.... not the coasters !!!!

If the coasters crashed as often as this game crashes.... no one would ever want to play it. This game has bugs and they should have worked them out before they released it. We were running it on a new computer with great graphics and sound and it still froze up after playing it for short amounts of time... sometimes less than 30 minutes. I'd stick with RCT2 until they fix all the problems with this "NEW IMPROVED" version of a great old game.

GARBAGE! Don't waste your time and money!

A total disappointment! I am having the same problem as other reviewers saying that the frame rate drops dramatically making this game totally unplayable! I too have a PC that exceeds requirements 4 times or more and it still doesn't run! I can't even use the tutorial! I have done what the Atari helpsite said and closed all my programs running in the background and it just worsens RCT3. RCT 1 & 2 work fine. The 3D graphics in this program are very amateur and childlike -- not like the 3D graphics in SIMS 2. Incidentally, SIMS 2 and other high quality games run perfect on my machine and has more data (it takes 3 CD-Roms to load SIMS 2 to only one CD-ROM for RCT3.) The quality control on this game is lacking immensely! I liked it better when the RCT series was distributed by EA and Hasbro, this game looks like an early Atari video game from the 70's. You can't put more than 4 rides or buildings in your park and 100 "peeps" as they are called or else your PC with lock up or crash. There are no patches yet for this. Atari Tech Support is non-existent. It only exists online via an FAQ area. If your problem isn't addressed, then you email them and are promised an answer within 2-4 business days. Well, a whole week has passed and I STILL haven't heard from them. The telephone number listed in the manual is a long distance toll call and it is no help either, it'll just run up your long distance phone bill. It only covers everything listed on the tech support website using menus and a voice prompt. It then directs you to the website or more menus or to more prompts with the same FAQ's as is listed on the site! You NEVER get to speak to a live support person! If you want to be totally frustrated, upset that you shelled out good bucks for a horrible program, be disappointed by the cheesy, primitive graphics, and lack of in-game help or prompts, then buy RCT3 or stick red hot knitting needles in your eyes. The latter would be more enjoyable than this game! Thank God I didn't delete 1 and 2 from my hard drives. This game is a good candidate for a resell on an auction site -- let some other sucker worry about it, not me, I'll take the cash loss! I'm sticking to my SIMS 2 3D which runs perfectly and is a phenomonal game! In other words, stay clear. Use your $35 to buy a pass to a real amusement park, you'll enjoy that more.

Where did the good old days go

Not Cool......what happened to the game. Roller Coaster Tycoon was amazing and RCT2 was pretty great too. I played the demo, IT WAS HORRIBLE. It lags (I don't know if thats because its just a demo but it was bad, and I have fast computer), there is night now which is annoying, it just turned day and I got on the coaster cam which is probally the only good thing from this game and by the time I got up the lift hill it was night. I cant build a waiting line unless I click that option like 10 times. I cant build a regular path from a ride unless the ride is on the ground. I cant delete a peice of path. You cant just click the little arrow at the top of the screen to change the view anymore, you have to hold both sides of the mouse to move which is confusing me. And when you zoom in you dont know where you are because your so close and you try to zoom out a little but you go too far. It was way too easy to do the first task because i wasn't trying and the second task is way too hard with the little time you get when i was trying. I am just saying I miss the plain roller coaster tycoon even if the graphics aren't great...the ones in the original are fine. I was only amused at only two points in the game......the coaster cam (even though it lags and I have a better game with great graphics where ZI can do that).......and when I built a balloon shop (people bought a balloon and when they did I would pop it and they get scared and either buy a new one or walk away like nothing ever happened...i did this for 20 minutes showing how bad the other parts of the game were. I would finally like to say that this is the worst RCT game and Chris Sawyer needs to straighten these people out.

A Big Leap from RollerCoaster Tycoon 2

I have experienced RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 and 2. The RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 wasn't a big leap from the first RollerCoaster Tycoon. I can say that RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is disappointing. It has lots of new rides, attraction, theme, and so on; but no improvement on game play, sound, and graphics.

But when RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 came out to the market, I tried that and it is really has differences! RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 comes with 3D engine graphics; allowing you to zoom in and out easily, rotate and choose any view-angle. New and intuitive gameplay, and it is user-friendly. It took me a few minutes to discover the features and functionality on the game panel. :-)

I would recommend this game for those who like Tycoon/Sims games, the previous RollerCoaster Tycoon players, and anybody who is dreaming of owning, managing, and building his/her own dreamland and its roller coasters.

Very good.....but

it takes some getting used to. but it is very excellent.good quality, graphics are very good but when you have a big park your computer goes very slow even if you have a good computer...this game is nice and is very pleasing but beware of the steep prices and always check your computer to see if it can handle it...

Great Game

Bad reviews for this game shock me. Mostly, bad reviews seem to come from people who don't have decent graphics cards, sufficient disk space, or sufficient processing power to run the game. Be sure that your system meets the minimum requirements before buying the game. But it's not fair to give the game a bad review just because you can't play it! Also, "zooming in and out" could not be easier so long as your mouse has a scroll button.

This game does an excellent job of bringing the 2D versions of RT to 3D. It was developed with Chris Sawyer (the programmer behind RT 1 and 2), so the feel of the game is very similar and the objectives remain intact.

Buy it

This game is soooooo awsome. You have to buy it. But, if you do buy it make sure you buy soaked and wild too. You'll love it. One of the best things is the peep designer. You can make little families. You can even make people who look like you. I also recommend making the air powered coaster. You don't need the extentions on that though. You don't need extentions on the peeps. You HAVE to buy it. In order to use soaked and wild you have to have Roller Coaster 3 first.
