I remember the commercial for Yoshi's Island when it was about to be released. A guy who obviously ate too much explodes and the room looks all messy. It was a weird commercial for this and even today I still don't get what the hell it meant. It just happened to advertise one of the best games ever so I'll let it slide.

Story: A stork is travelling with babies and one gets kidnapped while another one falls on Yoshi's Island right on Yoshi's back(which must've at least hurt his spine but oh well). That baby just happens to be Nintendo's resident mascot Mario, only in baby form so now Yoshi has to return him back to his parents while dealing with Baby Bowser.

Graphics: Back when this game was released, this graphics looked trippy. And they still look cool. The graphics almost seem to ooze with color as the locales look very vibrant. Much better looking than the first Mario World.

Sound/Music: My title refers to whenever Yoshi gets hit. You don't know suspense and heart pounding like when you have to rescue Mario. As soon as that whining starts, you make a mad dash for that kid. It's super annoying of course. Oh and the music's good too.

Gameplay: What really sent this game up the critical/fan favorite stratosphere was here. Whenever Yoshi eats an enemy, he makes an egg which he can throw at enemies or clear special paths in terrain. Also here is Yoshi's ability to turn into different vehicles such as the helicopter or a mole.

Taking the Dragon coins from Mario World and expanding on it, every single stage on Yoshi's Island as items that you need to find and if you find them all you get rated out of 100. Get 100 on all stages and you get a surprise. Things like coins, stars, flowers are scattered throughout and you have to find them which adds big time replay value.

See why this game is touted as one of the best games released on the SNES and one of the best available on Gameboy Advance.

Having enjoyed Yoshi Touch & Go for the Nintendo DS, I was eager to get my hands on the original, Yoshi's Island!

The Story begins with a stork taking two newborn babies to their parents. Those two babies are Mario and Luigi. Suddenly, an evil witch named Kamek charges at the stork with top speed, snatching only Baby Luigi. Baby Mario falls toward Yoshi's Island and lands on Yoshi. Something else falls along with him. It's a map the stork used to find the babies' house. Since Yoshi can't figure out the strange situation, he decides to talk to his friends about it, completely unaware that Kamek's forces will stop at nothing to get Baby Mario. Will the two babies make it home?

You control Yoshi, making sure nothing harms Baby Mario, swallowing enemies, and making eggs to throw at other enemies. In certain areas, you may find a bubble that lets Yoshi morph into a useful vehicle (for example, using a helicopter to fly over a big gap). Every time you reach a boss level, Kamek enlarges a normal enemy and you have to find a way to defeat it, such as pulling down the pants of a boss, making him deflate from embarrassment.

As for the replay value, there's plenty of it. With plenty of levels and the classic Mario Bros. game included on the cartridge, there's definitely something to bring Yoshi and Mario fans back for more.

Enjoy! If you like this game, I also recommend Yoshi Touch & Go for the Nintendo DS. You can use the magic pen to throw eggs, draw clouds, and help Yoshi guide Baby Mario back home.

Okay, first things first. I want to let you know I am 40 years old. I work in a business office in a financial district, and I wear a tie to work. AND I love this game! So put away the stereotypes of Nintendo videogames, as this 40 year old plays this game proudly on Mass transit, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Now, getting on with the review. I think this game gets the "funnest videogame ever" award. One thing that stands out in my mind is how easy it is, to learn and have fun with. You never get too frustrated and want to quit, but it's so much fun, you never get bored and want to quit. What a combination! I highly recommend this game for any age. My son has been playing it since he was about 3 1/2. And he completes levels too! It's that easy. But at the same time, it is fun enough, so that an adult can enjoy it, and not feel like its a kid's game.

Granted, you have to be a big videogamer like I am. But if you are, and you have a GBA or DS, than you have to get this game! Hands down, one of the best of all Mario games out there, and certainly in the top 10 of funnest games.

One think I love about this game, is the ability to steal time back, that is, lengthen the amount of time before you "lose" a life. So many games out there are "instant death." And for somebody like myself who doesn't have endless hours to play a videogame, this is the ultimate satisfaction.

I also think this game converts to a portable game, much better than a console game. But I bet the console game was super fun to play too. I never had the pleasure of playing this game on the SNES.

In conclusion, this game is at the top of its tier. Cream of the crop. I highly recommend it! Buy it now!

Yoshi's Island Super Mario Advance 3!

Ok, when you first turn on your gameboy you have two options, you can play the game, or you can do mario brothers. Mario Brothers is so stupid!
1.You can't save it! Once you quit or die you can't go back to the level you are on.
2.you play boring mini games that are not fun!

On the other hand, Yoshi's Island is lots of fun! What's different about it from the other games is that Mario is a baby. But he is so cute! You have cute little Yoshis (there are about 8 Yoshis) that bring mario home. You can save the game and it moves from one Yoshi to another. For example, if you started on the green Yoshi, you will move to the pink Yoshi if you pass the level.

Classic Games are comin' back!!!

I played this game when SNES was in it's prime, and all I can say is that young ones who never even SAW the SNES are gonna be in for a real treat. Dozens of hidden and unlockable levels, smooth and responsive controls, clean, crisp graphics that are easily viewable, and a really catchy sountrack. This is one game that you can't, I repeat, CANNOT miss!

I had this game for a few days now. This game is the most terrific game that is in the gameboy advance system now. Now i'm in world 3. I wanted this game so badly when it was in the snes system. To me this game doesn't have that much secrets as super mario world 2. Now to tell a little about the game. This game has 2 games in it. the first game is as you know is Yoshi's Island. The second game is super mario bros. Yoshi's Island has 6 worlds in it. The second world is a little easier than the first world. In the beginning it has a secret passage that will not help you to finish the area. It will let you get you some items to finish the game completely because the game has extra levels when you get all the items needed like for example when you finish the stage the minimum of flowers, stars, and red coins will show and on the left side it will show you how many you got out of what. If you got all of them that you can see and there's still more try to shoot eggs on red flowers and other enemies and objects. I still didn't do that. There will be two castles in each world. The areas they will be in are 1-4, 1-8,
2-4, 2-8, 3-4,3-8, and so on. There's some areas where you have to keep shooting eggs in the air to get something that has an arrow that points north. That's all folks and that's all i'm going to say. BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
