I really liked this game

This is a really fun game! The levels are quite complex, and, at times, very difficult! A few of them took me weeks to beat! But this game is not that annoying kind of hard, where you just get frustrated and give up, but the fun kind of hard, that makes you want to keep playing until you win the level! This is my favorite game I have ever owned for GBA, and it is worth the money! Don't waste your money on the new "yoshi topsy-turvy". I also own that one and the entire thing only took me about 3 weeks to beat, as versus the about 6 months it took to beat this game. Topsy-turvy takes a very appealing concept(tilting your gameboy to make things happen on the screen) and somehow makes it into a very bland, boring, easy game.
So if you are going to buy a yoshi game, buy yoshi's island. That is all.

Sonny, they don't make games like this no more

Pure genius, there really isn't much more to say than that.

Pros:

The level design is fiendishly clever.

The graphic design is some of the most memorable I've ever seen. Truly as close as you will get to playing a cartoon (well, considering the shoddy work in certain cartoons such as Rugrats, it's even better looking than a cartoon)

Astonishing level of variety.

It's the funniest game I've ever played.(Hell, there's levels where running into huge puffy dandelion seed type things will cause Yoshi's eyes to bug out and the screen to sway back and forth. This truly is the Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds of videogames. And the look on Yoshi's face after being.....ummmm...'digested' by a gigantic frog, once released from its stomach had me gasping for air with laughter.)

Cons:

Too Too Too easy. Whereas Mario Bros 3 is excruciatingly difficult, Yoshi's Island is a cakewalk. You almost couldn't lose if you tried. Most gamers will beat the game with three hundred leftover lives.

Too much emphasis on 'scavenger hunt' quests. This contributes to the easiness since the only challenge comes from finding every single hidden item.

note: The annoyance level of baby Mario's crying is generally over-exaggerated. It won't bother you and adds extra incentive to retrieve him.

Good but not great

A late arrival in the SNES' life span and public perception that the game "was for kids" meant that many missed the Yoshi's Island
boat when the game first arrived. Here's your chance to make up for sins of the past. While this sequel to SMW model it's Mushroom Kingdom predecessor (not that it's a bad thing) in many ways, impeccable platform-jumpimg controls, ingenious level designs, and a plethora of stimulating secrets, there are two key differences that set it apart from the plumber's fare: Yoshi can consume enemies to make throwable eggs (which trail behind him), and whenever Yoshi is hit, Baby Mario is knocked off his back, a countdown begins and you have to scramble to get him back. The graphics are among the best ever to grace a GBA screen, a vibrant canvas declared in brilliant crayon and eye-popping pastels, Yoshi's Island is a veriable work of art. The music is magical, too especially the intstantly in the fectious "underground theme" and the sound effects are classic stuff. One minor problem, however: the egg targeting system seems unneccessarily weird. As the GBA grows up, SNES ports are becoming a less and less welcome sight on store shelves. Yoshi is the exception that proves the rule...don't miss this nearly lost gem of the Mario universe.

this game is AWSOME!!!!!! by christian domagall

Yoshie's island is the best game I've ever played (even though I have'nt played many games for GBA) but it's the best game so far.The grafics are very detailed and there are lots of cool secrets to find. This game never gets boring! every time I play my gba I find myself playing yoshie's island.the levels don't get boring because you can do so many different things and try to beat you're old score.I don't get annoyed by baby marieo crying as you may have herd other people say if you've read some of thease other reviews. It's a pretty hard game when you first start, but you'll catch on after you play it alot like me.

THIS GAME IS A MUST BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game rocks, there are a total of 6 worlds with 8 levels. Plus!, if you get a perfect score in each world, there is an extra level for that world. I've played this game for the Super Nintendo and let me tell you, It was amazing. The graphics are crisp and its very challenging as your playing it too. This game, of course, surpasses the sequel "Yoshi Story" because it has more levels and has a very unique plot for a mario game. The only annoying thing about this game is when mario cries. But that does not stop me from giving this game 5 stars. I highly recommend this game to any fan of mario. Especially if you've never played it before. Oh, I forgot to mention that they added 6 new levels for this game since its on Game Boy Advance. You'll find those additional levels after finishing the game. I can't wait to get this game for Game Boy Advance.

The most gorgeous game I've ever played!

I have to tell you, I have a lot of GBA games and this is by far the best. Although I wouldn't recomend this game if you don't like 2-d classic mario type games. But any one that likes the classics will love this! It Has outstanding graphics, and lots, and lots, and lots of entertaining gameplay. Its challenging but fun. although it is 2-d you won't fell confined in fact you can really explore the enviroment. I love this game!
