For humans that can read...

My six year old loves playing this game. The game writers boast of the real-time synchronization, and that you can set the game's time to mimic the actual time where you live. This allows the sun to rise and go down at the same time as your sunrises and sets etc.

You enter a town inhabited with animals and build a nice place for yourself. There is nothing questionable about any of it, so it meets its rating. Some of the text is even quite humorous.

There is one double edged sword to this game. That is the game is based on the conversations between you and the villagers. If you child does not know how to read, then you had better numb your brain and sit back in a comfortable chair, cause it's going to be a while. On the other hand, the game allows you to interact with a software keyboard and it does encourage spelling and reading.

All-in-all, I prefer the games that just require motor skills. :-)

I LOVE THIS GAME> IT IS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE SIMS BECAUSE IN THE SIMS YOUR STUPID SIM ALLWAYS GETS DEPRESSED. THIS GAME IS NEVER ENDING (I HEARD IT ENDS AT YEAR 2030)IT IS A GREAT BUY BECAUSE OTHER GAMES END AND YOU THROW THEM ASIDE AND GO BUY A NEW GAME. BUT ANIMAL CROSSING HAS ENDLESS THINGS TO DO!!!! IT MIGHT LOOK LIKE A "KIDDIE" GAME BUT IT IS NOT,AND IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS COLLECTING THE SETS ARE HARD AND ALL THE FISH AND INSECTS.

PROS:
REAL TIME!!!
LOTS OF THINGS TO FIND

DECORATE YOUR HOUSE
CONNECT TO GBA!!!
PLAY WITH 2 PLAYERS GO ON HUNTS
TRADING
CREATING OUTFITS
MAIL!!!!!
FUN HOLIDAYS!!!!
OVER 200 OUTFITS
OVER 200 NEIGHBORS
COOL PEOPLE COME TO TOWN
AND MORE!!!

CONS:
SOMETIMES NOTHING TO DO
ANIMALS CAN BE STUPID
(BUT YOU CAN PUT A PIT FALL IN FRONT OF THERE HOUSE)

ONE LAST THING IF YOU GET THE GAME YOU HAVE TO GET THE OFFICIAL NINTENDO POWER GUIDE (I KNOW PEOPLE SAY YOU CAN GET THE INFO ONLINE BUT WHO GOES ONLINE IF THEY NEED SOMTHING FAST ALSO IT HAS PICTURES)

A ''Almost'' Perfect Life

I played this game and I loved it! You can get to change and design clothes, move into town, buy a house and much much more! I wished there were parents though. Also, the game has pretty bad graphics but they are colorful. This game reminds me of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, even though I haven't played it. Overall, this is a good game. But if you don't like this game or the graphics, I suggest you buy Harvest Moon: Magical Melody.

My daughter (8) has this game for more than half a year and still has a great time plaing with it. I was pleased with this game as well. It is one of the few non violent games available for the game cube. My daughter learned a bit about money: selling, buying and exchanging things. Excellent choice for a birthday present!

Outstanding game, innovative for consoles!

This is a fantastic title. In fact I was so thrilled witht he reviews of it I ran out and bought a Gamecube just so I could play it while I was laid up after my knee surgery. I love it. In the spirit of the Sims it is so much fun and open ended just set in a more fatasy type world. The real time date system is new and innovative in that everyday things change and there are holidays and other special things going on just like real life. I haven't seen a festival yet but the visiting people are unique. The only problem I have with the game is that it also moves in real time. Meaning if you pop the game on after 10 pm the general store is closed and will not open until 9 am. THis means you have to basically go to sleep and play in the morning if you were planning on selling (the only way to really make money) or buy anything. I found it frustrating when I first paid off my loan to TOm Nook and he promised me a new house yet I had to wait a whole day just to see it or when you send mail away you have to wait days for responses. This is almost too realistic for a video game. What it transpires to is a game you pick up and play for maybe 1/2 to and hour each day then you can turn it off as things to do for that day run dry. I think Nintendo should look at that issue and perhaps make things happen faster with actions rather than time. I think the Sims should learn from this as well as the time frame for a day in the Sims was terribly fast! (It used to take me 30 minutes just to go to the bathroom. I mean were talking number 1 here and that was ridiculous!) So maybe a game such as either of these with a time scale in the middle would be great. Anyway back to the game. If you want a game that is fresh fun and entertaining well get this. You won't beat it or exhaust it in a day or so trust me. I also hear it is even more fun when connected to the GBA. Now I don't own one and am not really planning on it I am curtious. I don't like how it is very geared to those who own the system as a lot of the games features can only be accessed through the GBA. Kind of a gimmick in my eyes but oh well maybe I'll try it out.

Cool Game dude!

This game is amazing but gets boring at times. You set off into the world and sart with this puny house. You have to pay off all of your loan for Tom Nook to make your house bigger. I have the biggest house. Tom Nook owns a store in the twn you create. You buy things from him like furniture and clothes. You also have neighbors in different acres. Tom Nooks store will get bigger the more you buy from him. Good luck and buy this game!

THIS GAME LOOKS SO COOL. THE REASON IS THAT IT IS JUST LIKE LIFE. YOU BUY A HOUSE, GET A JOB, AND JOIN A CLUB, AND DO ERINS FOR OTHER PEOPLE AND GET MONEY OR AN ITEM. YOU CAN FURNESH YOUR HOME WITH CLOCKS, COUCHES, OR EVEN CARPETS. YOU CAN GO TO OTHER VILLAGES. YOU CAN SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS. THERE ARE 8 DIFFERENT FACES TO CHOOSE FROM 4 EACH GENDER.

I want this when it comes out! Although the graphics leave much to be desired, it doesn't matter! its extremely original, and theres never a dull moment! I would like to see it in the winter. You can go fishing, collect fosils or bugs, write letters to your neighbors, do chores, visit someone elses neighborhood chop down trees plant trees pick fruit play soccer decorate your house play NES go make more outfits, put on a new outfit, talk to your neighbors go to their houses and more!! This is worth every buck of the 50 dollars your gonna pay for it. did you notice that not one of these reviews had anything less than 5 stars?? Last time I looked, it was like that. In animal crossing you really CAN have a second life, and its never over. Its like a better version of the sims. Don't refuse to buy/rent/play it because its cute. Its kinda the style of japanese stuff, and if they changed that.... i cannot think of the horror. You will have fun playing it. trust in me. And trust the other reviewers. This game will be the best. I mean, you can even scan cards with the e-reader and use the GBA to go to an island u can't normally go to. You can go to your friends neighborhood and some people might move into yours! seriously. and you can send letters to your neighbors and they will UNDERSTAND! they like lots of emoticons and long letters, just a tip. get this...now.
