Animal Crossing is a very fun and entertaining (but demanding) game with lots of replay value.

As a human who just moved to a new town filled with anthropomorphic animals, your time will be spent improving said town and building relationships with said animals. You can plant and remove trees and flowers, pull weeds, and dispose of trash to beautify the village. You can chat with your animal neighbors, run errands for them (for which you receive rewards), and send them letters (to which they often reply). If you befriend them, they will usually stay around for a while; if you are mean or ignore them, they will occasionally move to another town. Fittingly, if your town is attractive, new animals will move in.

The main goal of the game is to earn enough bells (the currency in Animal Crossing) to pay for your new house. However, you are free to take your time, as there is no deadline (nor is their any interest rate). You can furnish, paint, and expand your house, giving it some character.

Other optional tasks are bug-catching, fishing, and collecting fossils and artwork. The game keeps track of your progress if you donate your items to the town museum. (Of course, non-unique items can be sold for bells.) Because some bugs and fish are may only be caught at certain times of day and during certain months, a completionist will need to play the game for at least a full year. (Those of questionable gaming integrity can reset the GameCube/Wii calendar and clock to "time travel" instead.)

Another incentive to play through for a full year is the seasonal activities. There are numerous annual festivals, usually falling on actual American holidays such as July 4th and Halloween. These festivals typically give you the opportunity to obtain rare items. Some are more demanding than others; the morning aerobics in the summertime requires that you attend 14 days at 6AM (within a span of just over a month).

Finally, up to four players can share the same town. Although they cohabit the same area, only one can play at a time. Communication is possible through writing letters and posting on the town message board. Additional towns may be created on additional memory cards, and provided that you have both memory cards in your possession, you may visit the town in the other memory card.

This was SUCH a good game! When I first saw the game I thought, "Who would play a dumb baby game like this!?" I was so wrong. If I could, I'd give it a 10 star rating. It's so fun! I know I'm 12 years old, and I'll admit I LOVE cute and cuddly stuff, but my MOM loves this game. So how bad can it be?
You're this little person who has just moved to town and need to pay off you morgage. In this town you can: Shop, Make your own clothes, fish, bug catch, do favors for ANIMAL friends and lots more! When I was fishing I caught a coelacanth!

"SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I'll let you in on a couple of secrets I learned!
When you buy a shovel, bang on rocks every day. Money comes flying out. You know the saying money dosn't grow on trees? Here it does!

I also learned something else from this game: NEVER JUDGE A VIDEO GAME BY IT'S COVER!

SO AWSOME

Everyone i know has told me that i shouldnt buy this game because it's "kiddy", but that is beacuse all they look at is the graphics. They may not be that great but there different and the game play is so immense that you could play for 20 years and have something new happen everyday. This game is based on gamecube's internal clock so if your playing at 7 Am it will be 7 Am in the game, so if you play at midnight most of your neighbors will be asleep. Another great part of the game is that you ahve your own house that has almost endless things you can furnish it with. Those are just a few cool points of the game if yiu want more info go to [website] and search for animal crossing it has lots of info. peace out

A virtual world

Animal Crossing is an alternative world in which you can experience many things that you would normally run into in the real world...except without all the stress and the pain. For instance...you need to find a house to live in, make money to pay off your mortgage and buy things, meet friends and collect money from trees. Well, I guess finding money on trees isn't what you would find in the real world...

The game play is simple and to the point. Your mission is to do errands for people in the town and collect "bells", which is the name of the common currency of the city. The game plays like an RPG (role playing game) in that you have to interact with all the characters in the game and talk to them to find out what your tasks and duties are. This will appeal to many people in that the game has many different variations of what happens. It all depends on who you talk to and what your actions are in the town.

The game is "cute". The scenary, artwork, characters and music all add to a fantasy world full of colors and talking animals. The streets are clean and everyone gets along. There is even a lost and found at the police station in which you can "claim" lost items. The police are so trusting that you can take items which aren't really yours.

Animal Crossings is locked into the time chip of the Game Cube. In other words, the game runs in real time. If you play the game at 4pm in the afternoon, the game will reflect the conditions and lighting at 4 pm. I have been playing this game at 9 pm at night, and unfortunately, sometimes the stores are closed because I arrive too late! This game design gives you a feeling that the game is actually alive. Pretty nice feature.

In order to play Animal Crossings, you need an entire memory card (59 blocks) to save the game. The Animal Crossing I had offered a free memory card along with it. Make sure that you have enough memory to save the game.

The game is very, very repetitive. Although there are various "missions" for you to go on, such as doing errands for the other animals and delivering items to different areas of the town and decorating your house, the game basically stays on this level. This will wear some people down as this game is not "action" packed. It takes lots of time to play this game and a lot of patience too. I personally like RPG games and games that require a lot of exploring, however, the mind numbing repetition of the game play, at least for me, was getting on the level of irritation

The game, overall, is very nice looking. People will find that it is more fun if they do a mulitplayer game in which you can actually visit other people's towns. This is done by saving your data and "traveling" to your friend's town by swapping data. Each city is unique, so your town of your friend will look quite different from yours. Think of the whole game as a virtual pet game.

Some people will really like this game. Others will find the challenge of the game non-stimulating and game play boring. I would seriously recommend renting this game before purchasing as this game seems to be one of those games where you either love it or could do without it.

Ok, this game is really great and very cute. If I could i'd play it non-stop. If you're looking for a game that is very interactive, enjoyable, and not too hard, this is the game for you. The downside to playing it is if you rent it, and you don't have a memory card, you can't save and it gets quite boring. Have fun!

I'm absolutely addicted to my daughter's game

Adorable characters and something different everyday. Hard to miss a day for fear of missing out! Stay away from town too long and you will get cochroaches in your home. Real time game/holidays celebrated etc...My daughter's reading actually improved as she read along with the banter of the animals. It's me, though, Mom, that is addicted to this game. I play it while she's at school!

This is the best game that I have ever bought for my Gamecube. There are many things you can do in it such as:

-Play as multiple characters
-Collect items and furnishings
-Write letters to friends
-Visit a secret island
-Get items by E-Reader
-A ton more!!!

This is the best game ever!!! I loved it. It is a great game for people of any age, and will even keep 4 year olds occupied. Animal Crossing also has a website (www.animalcrossing.com) it is very fun and gives you a sense of the game if you haven't already played it.

Tip: If you are caught playing this game in the middle of the night, don't worry. Your kids will understand because it is Animal Crossing.

I got this for Christmas of 2002 and I really enjoyed it till about September of 2003. Well I played it everyday for two hours or even longer so I got bored in 8 months. Once you get around to all the seasons it gets kind of boring but it is still an awesome game. Yes it does change seasons and in the beginning of game you set time to what it is where you live so when its 12:00 A.M at your home its 12:00 P.M at your home in the game. Every season there are plenty of activites for you to do. In the Winter you can build a snowman and if you make him perfect he gives you a gift thats you can only get in winter. There is an igloo where you can play different games to win stuff. Then in the other seasons it just switches activities. In summer you can go to a tent where you can play games and win stuff. You can have up to 4 people stay in your town male or female and you have neighbors that send you gifts on holidays and if you talk to your neighbors and they might ask you when your birthday is and then on that date you get a special gift. Your house can become bigger if you make a lot of money by catching fish or insects whitch you can do at any time and selling them at your town store. The store also becomes bigger after a while. At first your store only has like 8 items but then when its gets bigger it can hold more items. You can dig up fossils and take them to the museum to be on display. You can also take your fish and insects to the museum where they both have there own room you can visit anytime where you can see what you caught. You can deposit money into the bank to save. Your town has its own dump where you can get items that people throw away. You can design your house however you want. I have all the musical instruments in mine like the guitar and pianos. You can even get and play NES games whitch are awesome. I spend a lot of time playing those because there so fun. You can make your town members mad by hitting them with nets or leaving trash on there yard and they might pack up and move away to a different town. Then you get a new member. You can get different types of fruit like oranges and you can get apples and pears. You can either sell them or eat them. Some fish you catch can be worth up to 15,000 bells(what the money is called in the game). You can either sell it or give it to the museum for nothing. What I like about this game is that you never know what your gonna get in the mail or what type of fish your going to catch(just shows a shadow). If you send a fossil in mail you have to wait till the next day to get it returned. I remember I always would get up early and wait to see what I got. I don't like how you have to write something every time you send a letter. Kind of get boring righting the same letter to the fossil place every time. It is always good to play this game though and meet your neighbors and talk to them and see what like want you to do(maybe an errand that they'll tell you to do where if you do it they give you a item). I kind of got bored of playing this version but I will buy the next one when it comes out becuase I was satisfied with this Game. VERY GOOD GAME!! Overall 9/10
