Why do I like the sims? Well first of all, it allows you to control other people. Second of all this laugh-out-loud game supplies a furniture mode and a building mode. The tutorial house taught me how to play the game and soon I was ready for the rteal deal. Some people don't enjoy that the Sims don't speak English, but it doesn't matter to me. If the Sims spoke English it would be so boring. Plus it's hilarious to watch them speak funny. You could make them succesful or lazy, there life could be bad so yours doesn't have to be. It's adicting!!!

Making Famous Sims Not Easy Work

I couldn't wait for this lastest expansion pack for The Sims to be released so I preorder it and tracked my package online from work to see when it would arrive at my house. Since buying The Deluxe Edition I have become totally addicted to The Sims. So when I finally installed Superstar I was very impatient to see what this so called "Studiotown" was like.

First off if you what your Sim to become famous they must first have an agent...I was so impatient that I didn't read the booklet that came with the game and had to go back and actually read the thing. I digress, your sims get agents by looking for one in the entertainment magazine that is delivered everyday with the newspaper. If you chose not to make your sim famous they can still visit Studiotown, but they will have to pay for it. By way of making your sim famous I recommend that you use a sim that is living in a rather large household(5+ sims) and has a lot of points for Charisma and Creativity. Heading through the road of Sim stardom is no easy task, they have to make famous friends in order to climb the Studiotown ladder, and their energy runs down a lot faster. One problem I exprienced is that I had one Sim be in a good mood one second and the next in a horrible mood that she got bumped down on the Star scale for her bad behavior.

The 150+ additional items are excellent, my sims especially love their own scuba tank, and having an energy massage in their house. Having the Butler feature is nice especially for your hard working Sims that don't want to risk losing their job over raising a baby. One thing I noticed about the butler is that eventhough you might have already hired a maid and a gardener, once you hire the butler they stop coming to the house so the butler calls to hire them. The only good thing about the butler is that he does feed the baby while the sims are at work other then that he is expensive and lets the maid, gardener, and repairman do all of the work. So after having the baby for three days when it turns into a child I fire the butler.

This expansion pack makes a nice addition to the rest of The Sims collection.

An engaging and entertaining expansion

Although I have found all expansion packs for The Sims to be good values with great content, Superstar is not my favorite. Nevertheless, the game has some good qualities that can't be overlooked; besides, who can resisting giving your Sims a skydiving simulator in their own backyard?

If you pursue the path of fame for your Sims (and why else would you buy this expansion?), you will visit a new area in your game called Studio Town. You can, of course, customize Studio Town and download new buildings for it. In Studio Town, your Sims will use various objects to attempt to reach Superstardom. You have 3 different themes of objects, including music, modelling and movie-making. However, you do not select one of the three types; your Sim can use any combination of them.

You gain fame by completing "mini-puzzles" in Studio Town. For example, if your Sim tries to model a swimsuit, you chose one of three poses for him/her to take. The Studio Town employee overseeing the shoot will tell you whether or not your choices are correct. For the eariler levels of fame, you'll have 3 chances, but for the later levels, you are cut back to 2.

You also have to gain skills, as usual, and "Somebody" friends. Each "Somebody" in Studio Town is worth a certain number of star points, and a number in the Job panel will tell you how many star points you need. Making friends is harder, however, because Sims that are famous do not have as many interactions as normal Sims do.

Playing Superstar is challenging but rewarding. It is not easy to become a star, but once you do, you'll be happy. Your Sims can also win a variety of rewards for doing well while working in Studio Town. If you like The Sims, you will probably like this expansion, even though it seems to be aimed at teenagers more than anyone.

I loved the new clothes and jobs you can get with this new sims expansion pack. the only thing I didn't like about it was that it takes up so much mb. 125 to be exact. It majorly slowed my computer down and I experienced some during gameplay because of it but other than that it was great!

This game is greeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaat! I absolutely love it! I think its so cool how you can become famous and have people asking for your autograph and have an obsessed sim follow you wherever you go and root through your trashbin. The addition of the butler is also good. The possibilities are endless! I only rated this 5 stars because I couldn't rate it 1,000,000!

I had taken my time in getting The Sims Superstar Expansion Pack simply because with The Sims Makin' Magic Expansion Pack I was being kept busy in my Sims' world. As time went on I became more and more curious what Superstar held for me and I broke down and just had to have it. I can't resist not having every expansion pack the Sims series hold (heaven forbid when Spore is released, I won't know what to do!) I couldn't have been happier with my purchase, in fact I purchased a used copy from here on Amazon and got a *great* deal. I immediately made my way to Studio Town and got to work climbing the social ladder there.

Now, Superstar is much different than the other expansion packs, you have to earn stars - and the more you do in Studio town and the more famous friends you have, the more stars you earn. The more stars, the more you can do. It's not just sitting around a trailer (though if you want to you can!) eating bon bons. What tickled me about this was the makers of Superstar actually placed real celebrities into the game - Christina Aguilara, Marilyn Monroe - there's also someone that looks like a bald Woody Harleson, but I can't figure out why he's standing in the middle of the road as if he's a valet. Overall I've been having a blast with it. I'm upset I skipped over Superstar originally because I'm having so much fun with it now. If you still have your original Sims series and are missing Superstar (you haven't gotten to Sims 2 yet like me - lack of funds) definately grab Superstar. I had a blast making commercials, singing jingles, making songs, print ads, and having a role in a soap opera! If nothing else, get some fancy clothes and walk the catwalk!

A Cool Expansion... or a Confusing Hassle?

Okay, I have to admit... the idea of a new expansion to The Sims game sounds really fun, but it leaves me in a dilemma. Should I buy it to gain access to all of the really cool accessories, but confuse myself at the same time with the new interactions, careers, towns, etc.? That's definitely something to consider. Don't get me wrong... I love my Sims game. I have all of the other expansions, but the game is definitely becoming high maintenance to me! After working forty hours a week, I like to settle down with a relaxing, yet mindless activity, and learning all of the new features from the other expansions is more of a hassle to me already! I'd just be happy with the cool, new home accessories that this new expansion is supposed to come with! Why couldn't Maxis offer a new expansion pack that just comes with new accessories for the home and city without the extra features and careers, like on the Living Large expansion pack? I guess it's all about the money... and ultimately, it is the consumer's decision. It's going to be a tough one for me to make!

I bought this game Friday, and it installed fine on my computer. It just won't start up! On the orange splash screen it crashes to my desktop between spreading rumors and polarizing conduits or whatever. Is anyone else having this problem? If so please please e-mail me. Maybe it would fun if I could get the game STARTED. My computer surpasses all of the requirements. I've done everything recommended and it still doesnt work.
