MAJOR BUGS!

Maxis is getting very lazy with their Sims series. I couldn't even get this to run with sound. I could however play it without sound. What fun is that? It is not my system either, since both the Sims and Livin' Large work perfectly fine. Maxis I guess is getting greedy and is no longer making quality expansion packs. I was hoping for a patch for Superstar, but none exist as of now and their technical support wasn't helpful either! I ended up taking this back and I got a full refund. Learn how to program Maxis!

The Best Sims Yet!

Maxis and the makers of the Sims have done it again. Just when I thought there was no way they could produce a better Sims expansion pack, just when I thought there was nothing else they could make the Sims able to do - Sims Superstar arrives! In this Sims expansion for the first time you control the career of your sim. It is your responsibility to get them signed to a talent agency, to take them to "Studio Town" and to make them work to be a better talent.

The ability to control the career of your Sim is absolutely fabulous. I loved being able to decide whether my Sims should begin a career as a singer, actor or model. Studio Town has enough new features to keep you interested for a long time. Some of the new items include spa items like the mud bath and oxygen bar, new career items like the kareoke stage, model runway, and some things that are just plain fun like the underwater tank and the sky diving simulator. In addition a whole ton of new floors, walls, roofs, rugs, furniture and gadgets have been added for you to add to your house. It is also very cool that when in "Studio Town" you have to keep your eyes open for famous sims (Marilyn Monroe, Avril Levigne, Christina Aguilera).

The Sims Superstar expanision can really slow down your computer. I don't have a ton of money for a really fast processor so the addition of this expanison has slowed down my game play and how fast the computer responds. Just something to keep in mind if you have an older or slower computer. Additionally, while the "Fame" career track is awesome it does require a lot of work - this is not a career you take a laid back approach to. Your sim has to be working toward getting famous all the time. There is no rest. The new items that Superstar offers for the home are awesome, however, it would have been nice if they had offered some new beds - its been a couple expansions since our Sims got anything new to sleep on.

Aside from those relatively minor drawbacks the Sims Superstar is a must have. I was all but ready to pack my Sims away prior to Superstar coming out. This expanison is awesome and the first time you load it you will not be able to tear yourself away for several hours later.

Pretty good, better than than hot date

I think that although it's time for a sequel, Sims Superstars is pretty good. It's a lot better than Hot Date, the children actually get to do stuff. The new objects are good too. The butler just makes everything soo much easier including having children.

You're a superstar; that's what you are

The Sims Superstar Expansion Pack is, in my opinion, the best expansion pack yet released for The Sims. As long as EA keeps releasing expansion packs as impressive as this one, adding even more incredible nuances and capabilities to an already addictive game, I will never complain about their growing numbers. Superstar really revolutionizes The Sims in a way no other expansion pack, not even Hot Date, has managed to do. The drudgery of having to send your sims off to a boring workplace you never get to see is now a thing of the past. If you choose to forego the mundane and take a chance on stardom, you control your sim's career in fashion, music, or acting, scurrying him/her along from one money-making opportunity to another. Best of all, the superstar's life is not an easy one. You have to work to get your sim noticed, practicing such skills as reading lines at home, embarking initially on such activities as karaoke singing, open mic entertaining, and small print ads; there are paparazzi to be cornered for posing or publicity stunts and a network of stars to be won over by your obvious charms (including, at least in the original "Limited Collector's Edition Box," Avril Lavigne and Marilyn Monroe); the only thing missing is the old casting couch method of succeeding. Even superstardom with its coveted awards sometimes comes with a price; fans may bombard you with requests for autographs whenever you enter Studio Town, and the obsessed fan who loves you today can become the stalker hounding your every move tomorrow should he/she come to think you aren't sufficiently acknowledging his/her devotion to you.

Studio Town, by far the most expansive new area ever introduced into The Sims has a world of new things to offer: e.g., spas featuring mud baths, massage tables, and oxygen bars, sushi carts, and star trailers. There are so many new things to do in Studio Town that EA provides a guide of sorts at the top of the screen with which you can quickly identify which lots offer which types of new activities. There are a number of different gigs available for your rising superstars as they advance through the ranks of their chosen field, including recording studios, soap opera sets, and high fashion venues. Your sims don't just get up on stage and mumble, either; Superstar finds them putting on some impressively expression-laden displays.

The list of new objects, some 150+, this expansion pack adds to The Sims is also quite impressive. A butler is now available for hire; let him take care of running the household, hiring staff, caring for the baby, etc.; you are now far too important to be bothered with common everyday household chores. Your new lifestyle brings with it awesome new toys and diversions such as satellite dishes, new stereo speakers, skydiving simulators, tanks for scuba diving, and loads of new furnishings to fit your new lifestyle of the rich and famous. One very important innovation provided by this expansion pack is a much improved and more orderly phone book. In addition, new build mode tools let you customize your property in a number of important new ways.

While I would not call Sims Superstar an absolutely necessary expansion pack to own, I do consider it essential for devoted Sims players. It is one thing to offer an impressive number of new objects, but to offer on top of that a vast new area in which to use these new objects (as well as preexisting ones) in an entirely new and exciting way is not far from being everything this Sims gamer could ask for.

Excellent Sims Expansion

This is an excellent Sims expansion which is definitely worth buying, even with The Sims 2 not far off. The Superstar career track offers many new challenges, such as trying to develop relationships with people that have more fame than your sim, and therefore consider themselves above you. The career tracks that were included in Unleashed are apparently also included in Superstar.

This game also has a few bugs. I found that having a Servo (requires The Sims: Livin' Large Expansion) and hiring a butler caused the game to come to the brink of freezing. Also, having too many objects with too much animation causes the game to slow down based on the quality of the computer that the game is being played on.

Overall, if you are a fan of The Sims, you will probably be satisfied with this game.

fun but time consuming

this game is fun just like all the other sims packs but it is very very hard to get your sims to be famous and they run out of energy in simtown to quick. i think that maxis could have made stardom a little easier and in this pack it is now twice as hard to make friends. but all in all still very fun.

The best expansion pack yet!!!

I've really been enjoying this new expansion pack. All of the new objects are awesome, including massage tables, steam baths, mud baths, a new hot tub, scuba diving tank, sky diving tank, an oxygen stand.. and I just love the new little sushi stand that gives more hunger points than any of the other vendors so far.

There are a few drawbacks with studio town.. beginning with the fact that you can't invite anyone to go with you. I think it would be great to be able to invite other sims to go to the spa or whatever. Of course, you can set *most* of the spa items up in your downtown area or your home, but it would be nice if you could take others along with you.

One other drawback is that once you reach the point where you are able to record videos (if your sim is a singer) or make movies (if your sim is an actor) or use the runway (if your sim is a model).. the "game" that is used doesn't really give you much of a chance for success. But I guess it's tough to make it in the big time.. lol.

I've heard some rumors of the next new expansion pack that promises to be even better.. there are some details on the sims website.. it looks absolutely awesome!!

Anyway, I would definitely reccommend Superstar.. the objects and new skins alone make it worth it!!

I have tried every expansion pack of The Sims and have to say I enjoy this one much more than buggy Vacation or annoying Unleashed. The gameplay is a little challenging which is a big shock for a Sims game. It does a nice job of poking fun at the celebrity lifestyle, while letting all of us wannabe's have the chance to live vicariously as stars through our computer generated friends. Can't wait to see what's next!
