You know why it came to the cube? Hideo had lunch with Shigeru and Hideo respects him, so this game was made. PS2 sucks graphics wise, it couldnt handle this. You idiots who think the cube is trash? You are trash. Cube forever!

The first Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes for Playstation was a remorable game. Everyone had to play it and others had to atleast see it. In the end everyone knew Metal Gear Solid was the best stealth shooter available. The new systems came and Metal Gear Solid died out, we got Metal Gear Solid 2 but Konami couldn't make the same impact as the original did. So Metal Gear Solid died out and then at E3 2003 they dropped a big surprise for Gamecube only owners and that was that Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes was coming to Nintendo Gamecube only. Well they redid the sound, graphics, controls, features, and made the original 10 times better. The original had slow frame rates per second but no one ever realized it because they were having so much fun. The Gamecube version is absolutely perfect except for a few slowdowns every once and a great while but nothing bad. There is no choppiness in the picture so it always looks crystal clear. Konami made a new first person aiming view where they also had to redisign every level. The whole game is the same don't worry but more open and actually more well made. The gameplay is more advance in this one also. People aren't dumb. They can and will find you if you screw up once. The game is actually easier in ways since it has all these new features but all these new features just help boost the replay value which I would say id very high. This game is so much better than the first in every way I urge you to buy this. Another thing if Metal Gear Solid does good Konami is going to give the Gamecube Castlevania, the major hit shooter. So start saving and buy this game so we can all relive one of the best shooters of all time.

I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS GAME

This was the best game that ever came out for the Playstation. Take that game and seriously tweak it by making the graphics better than any next gen game out today. Change the camera and cutscenes to match what's popular in today's games. Keep the story that made the original so good. What do you get? The best game to come out so far for any console this year. The GC is the best system out this generation simply because it's all about the games not gimmicks. Metal Gear Solid looks, feels, and is an amazing game. There are a ton of nintendo specific extras in this game that any fan will enjoy. I suggest buying a GC just to play this game because it's that good.

A faithful reproduction of MGS

Think of a mix between Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Take the storyline and characters from MGS - originally released on Playstation - and then take the smooth 3D graphics and effects of Sons of Liberty. Stir thoroughly, and you have one sweet recipe.

I always thought the story of MGS exceeded that of Sons of Liberty. I felt that MGS: SoL was suffering from the bridge of characters. A game like Metal Gear should consist of ONE main character... you throw more into the mix, and you dont give them time to grow on the game player.

MGS displays the characters dynamically, teaching you something new about them every time you talk to them via Codec. The storyline is thick, but not too thick to ruin the gameplay. The characters, while fantasy-like, are still believable due to the given enviroment.

As great as this game is, though, there are a few set-backs. I might be spoiling some of the actual gameplay if I cited examples... but I can say that there are parts of the game where the action gets choppy; it almost made me believe that the game console didnt have enough power to push the game in intense situations. I also must admit... the new controls configured to GameCube arent as comfortable as they should be. It will take some getting used to, but it's very much worth it. Avoiding this game because of bad controls or choppy action would not be very wise. The Twin Snakes has too much to offer to be so easily ignored.

This game takes the best quality of MGS - its storyline - and mixes it with the best quality of Sons of Liberty, the graphics. It's certainly a bundle worth buying.

nice graphics

this game is great. Brings memory back with the psx or 1 what ever u call it. This game is great And I have to agree with that other reiviewer...THEY CHANGED THE FRIGGIN MUSIC! AND WHAT HAPPEN TO GREY FOX'S VOICE...Oh well that shouldnt bother you.
This is a great gamecube and and any owner should get this game.
Get it. To that reiviewer milky what ever. No offence man but WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU COMPAIR MGS WITH TRUE CRIME?! WTF!!!?
TRUE CRIMES IS A GANGSTER WANNABE GAME WHICH CANT MATCH UP TO GTA3.

Love the original masterpiece - I just wish I could say the same thing about Twin Snakes.

Let's face it - Twin Snakes blows. Anyone who says it's good is totally lying to themselves or has not played the original MGS1 for PS1.

A majority of the cut-scenes were unnecessary and really stupid. Snake does some super-human moves that just ridiculous - this isn't The Matrix or some Steven Seagal movie.

First of all this game is sweet.I thik this game is one of the best ever.Don't even get me started on the graphics! These graphics are so good that it makes the game more funner. This game is going for players choice, bottom line! I'm sorry for xbox and ps2 because first of all xbox doesn't have it and ps2 does but with cheap graphics.

Anyways the legendary story line of the original metal gear solid. The cutting-edge gameplay of metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty.Fused together in metal gear solid the twin snakes, the best of both worlds available exclusively for nintendo gamecube. With new cut scenes, new game design and the creative vision of the game's originator, Hideo Kojima, it's a brand new game that's already a classic. So what I'm trying to say is that the graphics are sweet, the gameplay is sweet, heck the whole game is sweet.I would recomend this game to all the people that I can.

An interesting story, but the execution is a little flawed

Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes is mostly a story-driven game. That would explain the fact that there are several hours of cutscenes, and they sometimes seem to drag on endlessly. You can skip them, though, so if you aren't very patient, you don't have to sit through them. There is humor, tragedy, romance, and action all rolled into one little package. Plus many twists in the plot. It seems like almost every cutscene, there's someone dying or betraying someone else or revealing a secret about him/herself. I was pulled into the story soon after I started playing. I felt bad for almost all of the bosses I killed, because they told their stories before they died and it turned out that they've had pretty tragic lives. At times, the characters repeat themselves too much or they monologue for too long, but mostly, its a well-written story with good voice-acting. The voice-acting went very smoothly, with few lines or voices that are completely idiotic. Which is an accomplishment, since most other games have major problems with that. Sometimes, though, the action in the cutscenes seems quite unrealistic. For example, when Solid Snake, the main character, sees a metal bar flying at him from an explosion, he doesn't just dodge it like a normal person. He leaps five feet into the air and throws a grenade at the pesky hunk of steel. There are a lot of crazy stunts like that in the game, but whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a matter of opinion. Its not nearly as well done as the Matrix, but if you like over-the-top action, this might be for you.

Something that impressed me was the uniqueness and variety of some of the boss battles. *Spoiler ahead* One boss has psychic powers, and he demonstrates them by reading some of the games on your memory card and making your controller move. During the fight, he could read your every move through your controller, so you have to put the controller into another port to block his telepathy. I've never seen that one before. *Spoiler ended* The other battles make you use strategy, too, which keeps it interesting.

Movement isn't quite as smooth as I would have liked. You might run into things or turn in the wrong direction. Another problem I had was that when you walk towards a wall, you automatically put your back to it. This could be a problem when you need to face something on the wall, like a switch, and you keep turning around. But mostly, the gameplay is alright, even fun at times. You can collect a variety of weapons, from a stun grenade to a missile launcher. You can even pick up adult magazines and place them on the ground to distract enemies. And the controls are fairly easy to figure out. The gameplay is pretty good, with just the few flaws.

For the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, the graphics would obviously be improved. It looks good, with nice weather effects and facial expressions. It's not the best looking GameCube game out now, but it beats the old graphics. And as I stated before, the voice-acting is quite good. The music matches the situation well and the sounds match what they represent.

I really liked this game and I plan to try Metal Gear Solid 2 next. There isn't much replay value, so maybe you should rent the game, then see if you want to buy. But, since it's under twenty dollars, it would be worth it to just buy it. I finished the game in nine hours, so its on the short side, but I enjoyed almost every minute of it.
