Paper Mario was great, but from what I've found, the sequal will be increadible! The emphasis on paper is a new trait for video games, being able to fold into a plane, move between bars, and roll up to bounce away. You fight for a crowd, so you can get bonuses for a good show and you can also command a team of small creatures (Possibly like pikmin). Only four party members, though, and some strange parts like an army of fuzzies right at the beginning and another of dry bones near the end. A great buy, but I'd wait for the price to go down a bit.

BEST GAME EVER!

This game is an RPG, featuring Mario going about to rescue Peach(peach has been caught again. Big suprise, I'm going to have a heart attack and die, from that suprise) from a new threat of short people in santa-esque suits who want the magic map leading to the crystal stars (more stars, what a suprise.). Said crystal stars help open or seal the 1000 year door, which can only stay sealed for 1000 years. PM2:TYD brings back the paper character models on the awesome 3-D enviroment, and the multiple partners being switched out in combat and in the world map from PM1 is back. New partners include a yoshi, cloud spirit, and a mouse. Many lush enviroments have been created, but it can get challenging, so pick up a players guide if you have trouble.
By ta way, if your yoshi isn't the color you like, go to gamefaqs.com, the PM2 forums have a topic where it lists how to get a certain color yoshi.

I think this Mario game is the best one that Nitendo has made. It is perfect for all Mario fans. If you liked the first Paper Mario then you will love the second. Also Mario has 7 new partners in this Paper Mario. If you like Mario as much as me you will love this game!!!!!

When I first heard of this game, I basically ignored it. Then, when I was visiting Gamestop one day, I decided to buy it. I was instantly amazed by the unique battle system, the bright and cheerful backdrops, (except for Twilight Town, that is) and the challenging and profound gameplay.
I have not played the first one, but I will probably get it from the virtual console on Wii.
One problem with the game is that it's too short.

Excellent, but...

This game is excellent in every way. The way you can use Flurrie to blow away secret passages is awesome. The graphics and gameplay are superb! What I should really say is, when you get to play the game, the gameplay is superb. You will never play for more than 5 minutes without having to talk to someone for 10 minutes! This is the absolute worst downfall of the game! Every time you run into someone, you have to listen to them talk... A LOT! They don't shut up! You will listen to people talk more than you actually play the game. And almost EVERYTHING they say is pointless and has no effect on the plot. My advice is to just skip through all the talking by pressing B repeatedly- this is especially true if you have the study guide. The dialogue really ruined the game, but I couldn't bring myself to give it 4 stars though. Another complaint I have is the Chapter in which you are being followed by 101 punies. Oh My Gosh.....you get sooooo frustrated. It was really fun at first until punies wouldn't follow me through doors or warp pipes, they would fall off ledges and I was forced to retrieve them. This chapter is spent listening to dialogue and retrieving punies. Overall, the game is good- but don't even think about buying it if you have trouble reading.

This game is AWESOME! It has the perfect combanation of challenge, fun, humor, and good charcters. Some parts can be challenging but fun. It's the right length to keep you going for ever. And even if you finished it you would want to play it again. Even though i'm only 9 I have a huge collection of games and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one of the best. please buy this, you will love it.

The game itself is very interesting - the storyline is engaging and the controls are unique. It's an RPG, which is quite a switch for Mario. The major problem with this game is interactivity - not enough of it. Specifically, there are far too many cutscenes that are not skippable. Many of these cutscenes lead directly into a boss battle. The most frustrating instance of this is just before the final boss battle - it takes about 10 minutes to get to the "real" fight from the prior save point. This isn't a problem for the first time through the sequence, but if you lose 4 or 5 times, this just becomes a hassle and makes the game not really worth playing to see the end. This is a major problem that most game designers have found work-arounds for, but Nintendo revealed its lack of RPG experience in this element. It's an interesting game, but just make sure to win, or have a friend/sibling/(enemy?) skip through the dialog sequences for you if you get tired of them.

I loved this game from the moment I bought it to this very day. Its storyline intrigued me and it was difficult to leave the screen.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was wonderfully done with extremely impressive graphics. I was suprised they could develop a game and just using paper-like characters and backgrounds. The game has a wonderful story line that is just as impressive as all the other Mario based games (and many other games for that matter). The characters and enemies increadably thought out with their different personnalities and skills.
I absolutely loved the game, and since the story line is long and thought out, I continued to love the game even after a won (including the Pit of 100 Trials). The dialogue is witty and describes the different characteristics of your partners (and enemies) wonderfully. I highly recommend this game to many players and I guarantee that this game will keep you glued to the screen whether you like it or not, even for those who are not fans of Mario.
