What else can you say about this game??

Ok first off let me say that I dont really do the fighting game scene, I am an RPG/Sports and FPS (First person shooter) person... but my friend came over and said hey put this in. The next thing I know its four hours later and everyone that was there was calling for the controller. This game has some awesome graphics, easy controls so for all you novices out there (and i mean that in a good way) it wont be too hard to just jump into the game. Its story line is good even though it is a little bit short. Which in my opinion is the only downfall of the game. They have some great cut scenes and you which ever character you use, you learn a little more about why they are there and what they are doing for it. but like i said that is the only downfall of this game. If you are looking for a game that you can play with friends or by yourself then this is for you.

STILL REALLY AWESOME AFTER SIX YEARS 9.5 OUT OF 10

What's sad about some of today's games is the fact that some are still looking like ugly PS2 games unlike the slick graphics of modern PS2 and Xbox games. One thing that still amazes me about Dead or Alive 3 is the fact it still looks better than a lot games to this day... and it was made six years ago! The fighting mechanics are still awesome and manages to outclass a lot of fighters to this day. The characters are still awesome and the unlockables are still awesome, and the ending videos are still excellent to watch. The only problem with this game are small control issues, other than that there is nothing wrong with this awesome game.

Dead or Alive 3 defines what a fighter should be with it's amazing visuals and sound, but other than that, it's ordinary

A step ahead from Dead or Alive 2. The story is about a fighting tournament which offers a big cash reward. Each fighter is in it for a certain reason whether it is for glory, riches, or to confront another in a fight. Now, what do you notice, first of all? The graphics! The graphics are well detailed and it's near the summit of graphic design.

The soundtrack is great and features bands like Aerosmith. Each character has their own theme song. Attacks, moves, and crashes have relistic sounds to them. The Story Mode is good. You can play the role of each character and then unlock their movie clips and costumes. There is a practice mode where you can practice your techniques. A Time Survival mode where you try to beat the enemies fast. There is a tag team mode where each character can tag in. One fights while one heals. There is team battle where each player can have up to 5 characters and they duke it out.

The character variety is awesome. You got the slow, but powerful characters. You have the fast, but weaker characters. You have the average characters. Each character is good at something like punches, kicks, crunches, and a mix of some of those. There are over a hundred moves for each character and plenty of combos to try out. The settings can set the difficulty, the controls, and the sound which is decent. The environments are beautiful. Some have electric walls. Some have areas to fall. Some have little and some have plenty when it comes to space. This game is great for multiplay and for single play. The game is a step up from most fighters, but it's not anything that a game hasn't done before. All in all, DOA fans will love this. 2d Fighting fans will love this. You can punch, kick, grab, defend, and pull of combos. The game can be beaten easily unless you challenge yourself, but never the less, this game has a thick amount of replay value.

Pros: Beautiful graphics with detailed characters and environments. Fighting gameplay is great and a nice soundtrack to go with it. Good selection of characters and many modes to play in. Multiplayer is very entertaining and the game has juicy amount of replay value.

Cons: Behind the stunning graphics and sound, the game isn't that much innovative to other fighters.

Oooh... shiney pretty people....

DOA3 is a great game. One of the best to come out on the Xbox, inmyhonestopinionplzkthx. The graphics are tight, especially for a launch title. Lighting and background graphics are amazing, and while there are a few touchy things(one dimensional clothing), overall this is a gorgeous game.
Speaking of the graphics, in response to certain people saying the game is too ' trashy', I have this to say in caps to prove my point:
IT'S CALLED MARKETING.
How else are you going to get lonely nerds living in their mom's basement to buy your game? Add Kasumi, of course. Gen Fu's not gonna get them. You need some double X chromosomes to spice things up. It helps that they're scantily clad, of course. Besides, if you don't want your [...] kid playing it, DON'T BUY IT FOR HIM. YOU have the power. IT has a teen rating. Look at the reasons for the rating, it says ' mature sexual themes' RIGHT THERE. Don't act like this snuck up on you.
That being said, I'd like to move on to gameplay.
Story mode is your classic ' choose a character and go around in their story beating people up until the big boss battle' mode. Simple, but effective. The progressive battles don't get much harder, but the final boss battle does get you off your rear to try to think of how to beat him. It takes a couple tries, but it's worth it. Throughout there are gorgeous cutscenes to pass the time. And then there are the lovely movies you get in reward for beating story mode. Ahh.... beautiful.
Multiplayer is done well, with a good couple modes for you to play in, what with tag team (versus/normal), one on one(versus/normal), etc etc. It's fun, but I'd like to see more costume choices. Kasumi has the most with five, and that's just not enough. More unlockables in general would make this game even better.
Overall, this is how it evens out:

Pros: Great graphics
Interesting characters
Good multiplayer
Kasumi's assets

Cons: Not enough unlockables
Story mode gets repetetive
Not enough tag team stages

Worth the money, especially now.

Great game, but it's missing something...

Dead or Alive 3 is a great game, but overall, it seems to be lacking something. After you've completed the game with every character, unlocked all costumes (which isn't real hard), there isn't much else to do. If you enjoy the DOA series, give this game a try, but know that there isn't much that sets this game apart from all the other fighting games out there.

Don't got one

Well this review is short first of all if you got no friends then do not buy this game but if you do then buy cause the multiplayer is what makes you come back for more the graphics are alright and everythings plays good but for me its those games when you play when your friends come and that is why I give it a 5 for fun but overall 4 cause even when my friends come we play this for 30 minutes then get bored!

Verdict: 4.0 out of 5.0 Just buy it for a party game

Not bad at all

This game has a lot of potential. Anybody notice the feet are too big, though? Anyway, the fighting moves are really on point. The grappling moves look good, not generic like other games where characters are automatically in a takedown or hold. The female wrestler should probably have her own game as well, with other wrestler type characters. Maybe we can have her do a guest appearence on the next Rumble Roses game? Oh well. The game can get boring after a while, with little extras. And yes, the women are great to watch in action. Almost famous for this one.

Great game for low price

I was sadly drawn back by this game, the graphics are sweet, the controls rock as always, the girls are beautiful (the guys aren't as well put together) but it lacks improvement from DOA2:Hardcore for PS2, I bought an xbox mainly for the new DOA games but 3 basically took the same system from DOA2, made the controls a bit more (harder) pressure sensitive, and made the graphics a smidge better, If you're not a collector and don't mind missing a part in the series, get DOA:Untimate, same costumes in DOA3, better graphics, same controls as DOA3, the female models were taken directly from the improved DOA Xtreme beach volleyball (another good game) and put to action, however, being a semi collector with over 64 PS2/XBOX games, this was still worth the full $20 but if you got $50 get ultimate, it's worth all it charges, or DOA:XBV Is a really good choice if you like easy but fun, or got sick of fighting and need to wind down (the music and gameplay is really slow paced and relaxing) at only $16 used it's a good buy, of all the Xbox DOA games, this one is the worst, but far from bad.

DOA3 The Ultimate fighting Experience!!!

This game has it all.Great moves,a variety of characters, and beautiful, visually appealing atmosphere to battle in.But out of all these features, my favorite has to be the intense, defined graphics. The characters are so beatifully animated that when my XBox broke, I cried and cried for that game...And if you are looking at this now, you must be thinking about buying this game, which means you have enough money! I'm so jealous...You wont be dissapointed.Trust me.
