DOA: Dead On Arrival?

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 2 / 5
Date: November 17, 2001
Author: Amazon User

Well, I bought an Xbox from Walmart when it first came out, and I bought Dead or Alive III and Halo with it. I love the system and both of the games, (don't get me wrong: Ps2 and GC are great too), but as with most fighting games, Dead or Alive can get EXTREMELY boring after you play it over and over. As a matter of fact, I only bought it because it's a good multi-player game, and so is Halo. The Story Mode is extremely short, I'd say about 7 battles per character, and the endings, although some really good, weren't long and weren't that good, leaving you hanging. Except for Christie's, that is. (You'll understand what I mean there when you see it ;)

If you're looking for a game to show off your Xbox's graphics, or to kick a friends butt in a game, this is the game right now, although, if you're looking for more of a long, enveloping story...I wouldn't recommend it. If they'd have made this game a bit longer, and not so tedious, this game definately wouldn't have my title of Dead on Arrival.

ONE BIG LET DOWN

I own dead or alive2 for Playstation2 and i thought it was the best fighting game since Virtual FIghter 3 on dreamcast. I bought this game just to find out what a letdown it was. Sure the graphics are pretty, but does it really matter when you are in the middle of a dead heat battle, no it doesnt. The gameplay has no value to it. My 5 year old brother beat me at this game because he could press buttons fastaner than i could. What im trying to say is that if you know how to play it well, it does not reward or make you feel good about your gameplay Like the Virtual Fighter series does. TO tell the truth i almost prefer DOA2 o the PS2 rather than this higly over hyped xbox let down. Better wait until Virtual Fighter 4 or Soul Calibur 2.

I've Always Loved....

....the DOA series. I've played all of them and I own two of them. The game never gets old to me. I am the master of fighting games (I suck at everything else) and this is one that I definitely love. This game is not a "trashy" as some people like to blatantly put it. It is a really good game and it has some of the fastest gameplay out there. The speed at which the two ninja girls can move is amazing. The tag battle mode is also a great feature. The sparring exercise feature is also great for getting to know the moves. The graphics are perfect and there are minimal glitches. I encourage you to buy this game if you are into these types of games.

DOA3 The Ultimate fighting Experience!!!

This game has it all.Great moves,a variety of characters, and beautiful, visually appealing atmosphere to battle in.But out of all these features, my favorite has to be the intense, defined graphics. The characters are so beatifully animated that when my XBox broke, I cried and cried for that game...And if you are looking at this now, you must be thinking about buying this game, which means you have enough money! I'm so jealous...You wont be dissapointed.Trust me.

Great game, but it's missing something...

Dead or Alive 3 is a great game, but overall, it seems to be lacking something. After you've completed the game with every character, unlocked all costumes (which isn't real hard), there isn't much else to do. If you enjoy the DOA series, give this game a try, but know that there isn't much that sets this game apart from all the other fighting games out there.

Great Fightinng Game

Dead or Alive 3 is an awesome fighting game. Obviously like all fighting games the story mode is short however the fighting is incredible. The enviorments interact with the charachters and are jawdropping. Not to mention that half the charachters are female and yes their parts bounce, this should appeal to most everyone who likes fighting games. It is a must buy game. I also recommend Azurik: Rise Of Pearthia it is a great fantasy/action game for the Xbox.

Love the graphics, game play is fun but not complicated enough. Wanted to say that the High definition pack works great on my system with this game. No problems at all.

I am a HUGE "DOA2 HARDCORE" fan for the PS2...

After practically burning a permanent image on my TV from playing DOA2 Hardcore on the PS2, I couldn't wait for the new DOA3 to be released on Xbox! I am still giving this game 5 stars because it's still just as fun as previous versions (and the graphics really are unbelievable). However, I am a little disappointed in the lack of secret "bonus" goodies such as more than just 2 or 3 costume changes. The new characters are great (especially Hitomi), but it's also good to see the old familiar faces (Kasumi is my fave!) Overall, I would highly recommend this game to anyone, especially those looking to buy their first few Xbox games... it's a fun & potentially challenging game that will keep you hooked, and it really shows off the graphics capabilities of the Xbox. BRING ON DOA4!!!

Nice game for multiplayers. Excellent graphics and music, very good to play with your kids or your friends. I dont think this is a good game for only one player. But its great fun for 2 or more persons. And the controls are very easy to learn.

Dead or Alive 3

Easily the visual best 3-D fighting (maybe any console) game ever. When I played it for the first time my soul weeped for my eyes were in extacy. But I only gave it four stars. Why? Simply for being a Dead or Alive game. If I were judging it as a Dead or Alive game, it is by far the best one out. Yet what it excells in eye candy, it lacks in gameplay. I like more realistic fighters, if there are any out there. Virtua fighter will always rank high on the list for me and Tekken lower. But that's the kind of guy I am, complete preference on the players part. It loaths me to see Mortal Kombat style moves implimented. When a character drills themselves into another player horizontaly with out gravity taking affect... I am bothered. So the question is, why did I give 4 stars instead of 3? Because it is that pretty.
