A lot of people said that 'Enter the Matrix' was horrible, but they are not Matrix fans. This game is awesome. Everything about this game is terrific. The levels can get annoying if you don't know what you're doing, but you'll get through it with time. The best thing about this game is all of the answers it gives you from the movies, and all of the bonus material filmed for the game. It's like a movie w/in a game. Matrix fans... Rock on!
6 days 'till Revolutions...

i played Enter the Matrix, and it's a really good game.
i love the whole bullet time feature and all the stuff you can with it. from running on walls, to doing all sorts of jumps and cartwheels, it's awsome. shooting while in bullet time is AWSOME!!! you try to shoot the agents and it's exactly like the movie. they just duck, you can't hit them!

only problem with this game is that some of the levels are just to short.
there should have been longer levels in the some parts of the game.

driving isn't to bad. it's real easy to pick up.

the highway chase scene is pretty cool, and the music really gets you into it.
they also add scenes from the movie like when Morphis falls on the hood of the car.

haven't played all the game, but from what i've played, it's good.

Dissapointing but sort of OK-ish

This game had the license to be great.I mean think, driving, fighting, shooting, hacking, and well its the Matrix.BUT they had to mess it up somehow like all movie games(except LOTR).Driving feels horrible when you dont even know where your going what your leaning out the window and shooting at absoloutely nothing, and for Ghost players NIOBE'S DRIVING IS HORRIBLE.The on foot levels are pretty good except for bugs and clipping issues. There are also frustrating times when you are at "The cool part."and the game instantly turns to a cinematic.Hacking is not as fun as i thought. But the Matrix moves are pretty cool. There is a button for slow-mo and you can do flips, run on walls, and dive.Kung-fu combos are cool too.Weapons have very limited ammo too.I do give them credit for making real MOVIE cinematics besides just the old cinematic graphics. This game is PRETTY fun.

This one did not ful-fill the prophecy. But can the sequal be The One?

Go niobe!

The game is truly awesome, for anyone to play, even if you dont understand the matrix. Yes, the game does get straight to the point, and directly to the action, but isn't that what we want?
Enter The Matrix is very fast paced, and the graphical interface is not bad at all. The game designers made sure that they threw in plenty of A.I. for gameplay. Yet, they kept in mind at just how much we can handle as gamers.
The driving controls can be a little "iffy" but you could easily get through with it. The combatant controls are superior, and you should be instantly comfortable with them.
Lastly, what really got me interested in this game, was the Hacking Session. In the hacking session, you get to talk with Trinity, from the matrix trilogy, and Spark, the Logos ship operator. Also, while in this DOS/*nix type system, you can also enter codes, and hack the matrix. You can change your speed, you can make yourself jump higher, infinite health... pretty much, everything. Its really cool because if you know a tid bit about computers, you will succeed in this section of the game... its totally awesome.
Well... have fun, dodgin' bullets.

A Great Game!

This is a awesome game! This lets you see the Matrix Reloaded from Niobe's and Ghost's point of view. The graphics are above average. You can even use bullet time in this game! There is also dos-esque mode that lets you type different commands! The cinematics are great! You gotta get this game!

Addictive, intense and fun!

Of all the games that have ever spun off a movie, Enter the Matrix is definitely one of the best I've played in quite some time. Although the game was a bit over-hyped, it is in no way a bad game. In fact, its one of the most addictive and entertaining games I've played in a while.

First off, one of the most interesting parts is the fact that the game was actually produced and supervised by the Wachowski Brothers. With movie footage shot exclusively for the game using the real actors, the game's story is conveyed clearly and with excellent production values. The story is actually a side-story to the Matrix Reloaded, so everything that occurs during this game does in fact affect the plot of the movie. While you won't necessarily have to play the game to understand the movie, the game does help to explain alot of things from the film.

You get to play as either Niobe(Jada Pinkett) or Ghost(Anthony Wong), the crew of the Logos. Each character has a different path through the game, with different levels and cut-scenes exclusive to the character, making for some high replay value. As the game progresses, you learn more of your character's backstory and their relationships with other characters, which is an interesting aspect. Other characters, such as The Merovingian, the Twins, Cain and Able, Persephone and even Trinity and the rest of the crew make an appearence.

As for the game itself, the action is intense. If you see it done in the movie, you can do it in the game, everything from rebounding off the wall to deliver a roundhouse to your victim's face to cartwheeling around bullets while firing your guns to kicking your fallen enemy about 20 feet away from you, sending them sliding across the floor. Using the 'Focus' button slows down time(ala 'Bullet Time' from Max Payne), allowing you to perform more lethal martial arts moves and throws, perform greater leaps and acrobatics, and giving you a distinct advantage in gunplay and other combat situations. The hand-to-hand combat is arguably the game's strongest point...I had so much fun on certain levels that I replayed them several times over. The amount of interaction with the surrounding environment is very high, and makes the more intense hand to hand fights (such as boss fights or the Merovingian's chateau) much more enjoyable. I can honestly say I had more fun with the hand-to-hand combat in this game than I have in any fighting game that's come out in the last few years, and that's saying alot!

Other modes of gameplay involve driving. These segments are not quite as fun as the regular action game, since they can be pretty frustrating. The physics on the cars are pretty bad. Depending on which character you choose, you will be either shooting or driving, though sometimes the roles will be reversed. The 'flying' portion of the game, in which you get to pilot the Logos, is somewhat more enjoyable than the car driving scenarios, but can still be pretty frustrating at times. Depending on which character you choose, you will either be piloting(Niobe) or manning the guns(Ghost).

A great extra feature is the 'Hacking' mini-game, which allows you to unlock more features in the game, such as secret levels, more mini-games, cinematics, cheats, and other features such as allowing you to drop weapons into certain levels to use. It takes a little while to learn but that's the fun of it. Once you become good at it you'll find yourself unlocking tons of new things.

Save points are frequent...while the game is not easy you will never end up making tons of progress only to have yourself killed in one of those typical overwhelming moments and losing all your progress. It doesn't make the game easier, but it sure does beat the frustration factor down. No need to worry about losing anything!

Despite all the game's good elements, there are a few problems. The graphics, especially for an XBox game, could be better. They aren't bad at all, but they definitely don't push the power of the system. Its not that big of a problem, but nitpickers will notice. The game is a tad glitchy and the control is sometimes unresponsive, which can lead to frustrating accidental deaths. The camera is a bit touchy as well. It has a tendency to whip around suddenly or focus in an awkward position. This is particularly annoying when you are trying to focus on a particular enemy, or when you want to watch the opponent you just kicked go flying out a window and it ends up focusing at a bizarre angle. Other problems include just plain bad animation. One particular example is in one of the earlier levels, where the objective is to shoot out the wheels of plane. The animation is so blocky that it looks like it was done on the Nintendo 64 or PSOne. The graphics during the car chase scenes also leave alot to be desired.

Aside from that, the game itself is really alot of fun. I see many complain that the game didn't live up to expectations...unfortunately people just hold too high of criteria for games lately. Just because the game is based of the Matrix doesn't mean its going to be the Messiah of video games. It's a very fun and addictive game, and that's all that matters to me. So if you are a fan of the Matrix, get this game...the story alone is worth the price of admission, and I gaurantee you that you will have a good time playing. Go into this game expecting the game of the year, and you'll be disappointed. Go into this game expecting to have fun, and you'll be satisfied.

The Rabbit hole isnt so deep.

One word best describes Enter the Matrix: substandard. To begin, the game is visually unimpressive, with outdated environments and flat textures. The entire world seemed blocky and pasted together. Also, bullet time, which is a concept created and glorified by the Matrix, is poorly represented in this game. Bullet time is better achieved in Max Payne than in this hasty attempt. The main problem with the graphically [weak] bullet time is based upon the major flaw of the game: control. It is nearly impossible to control a character in games now with only one joy stick, a la N64. However, Enter the Matrix chooses to use such a control scheme, allowing bullet time to remain unimpressive and difficult to control. The controls are, plainly put, frustrating. The only bright spot in the whole game is its tie-in to Reloaded, and the story that drives the game. However, even this story is flawed by aimless missions and tasks, which are both frustrating and irrelevant. The designers and the Wachowskis should have focused less on the mini-game portion of the game, meaning boss helicopter fights, rail gun levels, driving levels, etc., and they should have focused more on making the core of the game believable. The most impressive combat element (hand to hand) is entirely underutilized in favor of the clunky bullet time gun fighting. In no way did I feel immersed into this game or into the Matrix, and I only play to learn more of the Matrix tale. The story is the clever hook in Enter the Matrix; however, I may jettison my attempts at discovering these story elements in fits of frustration, dissapointment, and anger that this game was obviously rushed through development to coinside with the release of the film. Well, the rushing to production ruined what could have been the greatest game ever created. I'm entirely dissapointed, and I feel as I have discovered the bottom of the Rabbit hole.

Starts off good and then . . .

it gets bad. Not just bad but monotonous. There is little variation in the game and as far as FPS and other shooters I have seen, this is a mess.

Driving the cars is difficult. There are endless shootouts and running and running (did I mention running?) through long levels that just become so boring you could fall asleep. There is little variation in the levels, the lighting is bad and the sound is dismal.

Sparks your "operator" is so whiney and can't act very well. Jada Pinket is hot and fun to play . . . the rest of it.

There are glitches and the so called "clues" and "fill-ins" to the movie the Matrix Reloaded are so nominal (nothing you could have figured out yourself) that you don't really miss anything.

I am surprised at the Warchoski Brothers. This game is so [crummy] and buggy and the story is so dull and disposable. You wont miss anything if you don't play this one. Not a thing.

DEFINETLY flawed, but great for Matrix fans

I'm torn with this game. It delivers a great backstory that connects to the movie "The Matrix Reloaded". It also has about an hour worth of footage that was shot just for the game. It has a great little mini mission that lets you hack into the game and unlock several different things, such as cheats for the game and a multiplayer mode. There's even a trailer for the third Matrix movie "The Matrix Revolutions". But even with all these things going for it (and a girl-on-girl kiss between Jada Pinkett and Monica Belluci), its really a pretty [bad] game. You can slow down time with the bullet mode feature, but this gets old pretty fast. Games that ripped this feature from the first Matrix movie (i.e. Max Payne) use it in a much better way. The combat consist of about two buttons which again, gets tiring REALY,REALY FAST! Its also obvious that the developer didn't take the time to polish the graphics, they just rushed it out so the release date would coincide with the movie. There are alot of glitches in the game, such as getting stuck in walls and the game freezing (it didn't happen that often with me, but I've heard it happen to other people). It's also pretty short. I beat it within a weekend. An added bonus though, you can play as both Niobi and Ghost. I just don't see the point of putting Ghost in. He doesn't have ONE line in the entire movie!!! Yet he is the main character of the game? I don't get that. I, like many Matrix fans, would have rather played as Neo or Morpheous or Trinity. But as much as I trash this game I've gotta say, if your a Matrix fan, as I am, you will eat up every minute of the extras. If not, I wouldn't pick this one up. There's rumor of another Matrix game that is connected with the third movie and an online PC game (soon to be XBOX game) called "The Matrix Online". Look at this as a bonus interactive DVD.

OK, when I first got this game i was amazed at how fun it was, then, i realized how repetitave it got.

The "bullet-time" or w/e is a pretty cool thing, and the levels are big. The only thing wrong? Everything Else.

The moves you can pull are very limited and repetitive. Guns keep appearing the same too.

In the game you can play as two charectors, Ghost and Niobe. It seems, they only worked on Niobe's levels, and they arn't even that great. The in-game videos are just ghost/niobe doing the same exact thing.

They give you lots of extra matrix footage, which, is good. But nothing exciting, just extra 3 second sceens of people talking.

Again, the biggest problem with this game, if nothing else: LIGHTING. I dont care about realism of shadows and darkness and lightbulbs, IM NOT GOING TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN A PITCH BLACK ROOM. Even with the brigtness up, the lighting still sucks. And its very, VERY fustrating.

Matrix Fan? Go ahead, buy it, just dont expect anything special. Just looking for a good game? STAY AWAY. There are many other games better than this.
