Excellent Gothic RPG

Many of the bugs that use to affect this game has been patched by the offcial patch 1.2 (can be found on many top video game sites) released by Troika a few weeks ago and also I recommend having at least 512mb of ram and the combat will run smooth with no slow downs.

Make you wants to get bitten as well

This game is incredible. You play in any of the clans and you get more than just a few special ablilities. As long as you play well and search for more in this game you will have no problems playing at all. But this is not a game for those who get scared easily.

Pretty, but SLOW

If you're the type of RPGer that likes dialog more than action, this game might be for you. Too much wandering around huge areas trying to find an NPC. Too much long dialog. One fight sequence every 4 hours of play does not do the trick for me. However, beautifully done and neat idea.

A bloody good time!

I have just finished this game, and .. wow. I played the first Vampire: The Masquerade game many years ago, and loved it. I am not necessarily an rpg fan so wondered if I would like Bloodlines as well - I liked it more. I typically find the dialog in an rpg sort of annoying, but Bloodlines pulls it off without seeming too campy or stupid. Its the kind of game I ignore my boyfriend for. The kind of game I run home on my lunch hour to play with the shades drawn tight against the warm sunlight outside.
Character creation isn't too involved, but I rather liked that because sometimes I can spend WAY too much time deciding on a character, what it should be, what it should look like, etc. It was nice to have the different clans to choose from. I played through as Tremere so I could use the bloodmagic, but next time I think I'll play Malkavian - I know the dialog for this clan is a bit different, and is probably lots of fun.
My machine is older, with a 1.8 processor and 512MB RAM. This means gameplay was sometimes pretty choppy for me (especially on the main streets downtown), and load times were atrocious. But even through all of that, I simply couldn't stop myself. The environments are gorgeous, and while 'dark' (as everything takes place at night), it isn't too dark to play in the middle of the afternoon as I sometimes find games with this type of atmosphere to be. What a gem. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars overall is because I know that even with a higher-end system the load times must be pretty bad, and interrupt game play. I also don't like the fact that you can't skip in-game cinematics, so if you have to reload you have to watch the movie each time, which can become tedious (ahem.. especially when load times are so long).
I know Troika has gone under, but I have one question - when is the next Vampire: The Masquerade game being made???? More, please!

At first I thought this type of RPG would be stupid, but after getting started with it it began to interest me. The story line is a little veague. The side quests are fun and sometimes a bit too hard, but you can get through them. The graphics are wonderful if you have the right graphics card installed. I love this game for the fact that it is deep in the way of RPG!
I would highly recommend this game to anyone who wishes to have a fun first person shooter, second person shooter Type of RPG.
The only thing bad about this game is the hardness of some of the bosses and side quests, but that is what makes for a good RPG!

A game that the developers should've worked more on!

Team-based online gaming -- choose to be a vampire or a vampire hunter
??? I do not remember seeing that feature or mode when I purchased then installed it.

Starting out I was a class that was into combat. Okay, typical hack n slash FPS RPG. Then my friend suggested that I should try out a character that was not heavily into combat, but communication. So I created a male Toreador and had an absolute blast seducing people. The voice acting and dialogue is great! SO much can happen depending what you choose to say or do. The music was another plus. IT fit the setting of White Wolf's LA ruled by Vampires. The story is really interesting as well. You'll be wanting to continue the story rather than dance at the clubs. Like Knights of the Old Republic, this made me be careful with my choices. I would save the game in several spots to see what the different conclusion would be.

However, the biggest issue was the gameplay itself, and that usualy hinders away from enjoyable. Getting frustrated at certain graphical issues kept me from thinking this was a great game... even though I really enjoyed playing this!
Annoying load times
bland character movements
random glitches
Also not having a character creation mode was another downer.

RPG lovers should check out this title. I'm not sure if there is any other game that lets you play as a vampire like this. I really wish the developers of this game try to ressurect it, improving the downers of it and make a great title using the next generation hard ware game makers have now. Buy it cheap though!

A game for the vampire in all of us.

Pure stunning visuals, this game really pushes my 128MB video card. Free roaming style RPG with a very modern and gothic theme, not for the faint at heart. Extreamly graphic, violent, and mildly sexual (thus the 17+ rating), with bold and true to life characters. You really need a strong computer to power this visual monster, the screen shots dispayed do this game no justice. Heard some complaints about combat, but there is also patch available and several unofficial ones to solve such problems.

problems make it frustrating and less fun

I've revised this review because after playing the game again I found it easier. Still that is a problem because some of the same issues -- switching between 3rd and 1st person view randomly at times, very dark visuals, bugs still in the game after latest updates, and a less than average game guide -- are around even when you play it ten times. My biggest complaint is that the game is really too combat focused. For the gaming audience this might be just what you want but some of us come to the game from the RPG. It would be so much better with more NPCs you could talk to and more dialog options with your ghoul. These need not be required but they could make the game so much more interesting and the variations so much higher. That said, the game is addictive even if its just to prove you can get over the problems in the game and I like that different clans and different disciplines open up new choices.

A great game.

I enjoyed Bloodlines a lot, which brought me into the whole world of White Wolf and the World of Darkness. It has a perfect atmosphere, and I cannot stress how much I love the game music. Simple entertaining things like actually listening to the Deb of Night radio spots make the game fun, even if it isn't noticeable.

Game play is good, I enjoy the hack and slash aspect of the fighting. I enjoy the role playing aspect of the game, and I feel like every mission I do is important in one way or another. I'm currently on my second time replaying this game, and I'm sure I'll do it another doze times to try other options. I've even come across several quests that I missed out on my first way through the game.

The only thing I wish were different about this game: I wish we were able to physically customize how our characters look. Other than that and a few minor bugs that happen every now and then (which of most you can find a simple cheat to overcome) this game is tops in my opinion. I wish there were a sequel to it.

One of the BEST RPGs for adult PC gamers

If you like vampire books or movies, or enjoy a good RPG game (similar to KOTOR or Jedi Academy), this is a must-play game for adult gamers. I say "adult" because there's a TON of violence, some partial nudity, and plenty of harsh language in this game. That said, for adult gamers who wish they could step "into" a horror movie, this is an amazing game. I gave it 5 stars for fun and only 4 stars for overall quality because this game didn't run too smooth on my PC. Granted, I don't have the hottest PC around (P4 2.8GHz, 1GB of PC2700 DDR333 RAM, and a FX5500 128MB video card), but my system plays a lot of other graphics-intense games without trouble. I guess it's time to upgrade my video card.

Anyway, if your system can handle it, I highly suggest playing this game.
