Rent Don't Buy

This game tryed and make a Gran Turismo game but didn't come close. It's a really fun game for like the first few weeks but then the whole game process just becomes repeditive and boring. I don't know people are different. I highly suggest rent the game and see how you like it.

Once you get the GT40 the game is just effortless. You don't have to freakin try and you have so much money damage doesn't matter. The physics are pretty realistic except the car response is really slow. If your a true committed gamer to racing games you'll hate this game.

A Gran Tourismo killer this ain't. But it is a fun and challenging game. Obviously modeled after Gran Tourismo, Sega GT has all the familiar car makers, options and game playing modes that GT has. Unfortunately, in unabashedly aping the gameplay of Gran Tourismo, Sega GT falls flat. One area is tuning. While some people actually may not like deciding gear ratios, Sega GT's tuning system is far more limited. For Example, Gear ratios. The only options are a close ratio, or an open ratio. Meaning either you can have a fast accelerating car or a top speed vehicle. There is also a normal transmission. Where GT tops Sega GT is that you can tune everything to fit your cars needs, whereas in Sega GT there is more of a one size fits all approach. The only calibration options are shock stiffness, turbo boost and tire camber..thats it.
Also the car physics are not as intuitive nor nearly as realistic as those in Gran Tourismo. Once your car starts to slide, thats pretty much it. In Gran Tourismo sliding can be done both poorly and very well. Sliding is an integral part of taking corners fast in real racing, so it shouldn't be the speed sucking annoying phenomenon that it is in Sega GT.
That being said, Sega GT does hold some trump cards over Gran Tourismo. Its arcade style is both a flaw and a valuable attribute. It is easy to pick up and play. It has lots of cool classic cars like the 300 SL Gullwing Mercedes, Dodge Charger, Ford GT40, and countless other racing and muscle cars. It does lack the numerous team racing models that Gran Tourismo has however i.e. the Team Oreca Viper, Corvette C5 R, and countless other GT cars. It also has drag racing which is cool and a personal garage feature to store all of your trophies and photos. That being said, considering how cheap the game is, or if came free with your system, it is an excellent choice.
