Tricked

Have you ever played Metal Gear Solid? Sneaking around, silently killing, and avoiding detection, you work through each level with a great story line. Not so in Metal Gear Acid. The main flaw in the story line is that the main characters tell you how to use the cards, completely ruining the reality of the story line.

I bought this game thinking of how much I liked the other Metal Gear games. This is the worst game released with the title of Metal Gear. To move, you need a card, to kill, you need a card, to defend yourself you need a card. If you get into a tough spot, unless you have the right cards, you're stuck. It is nothing like the other games in the series.

If you can actually get behind a bad guy, without your turn ending and him discovering you, you cannot choke him or drag him using him as a shield. All you can do is punch him, if you don't have a card to shoot him.

Overall, this is one of the worst games I have ever played. Do not waste your hard earned money on this worthless game.

This is a very fun game!!

You have to get used to the controls and be pretty patient. You kinda have to be good at figuring out how to trick the enemy and be sneaky. Once you figure out the controls and what the cards do, the game is very fun. It took me an hour just to past the first mission but after that all the other missions seems easier. Overall I wouold recomend this game. Excelent graphics.

This might be a waste of your money, but i might not

Personally, i did not enjoi this game. I feel that most of the previous metal gear solids were good, but this one just isnt any good at all. To start playing it is confusing and the cards are sometimes hard to understand. It is difficult to understnad how most of the cards work. The graphic were not as good as they could had been for a psp. The style of using cards is not as good as you might or might not think it is.

Just when you thought Metal Gear could get any weirder...

Hideo Kojima is a mad GENIUS! To turn a sneaking mission game into a sneaking mission game WITH TURNS, and actually pull it off successfully, is something he should get some kind of an award for. AC!D will take a few missions to get used to, but once you do get the hang of it, the game becomes fun. Some parts are actually harder than the regular MG games (like the blackout mission), and some are easier. Overall, I enjoyed this game immensely, and I'm already going through it a second time to get all the cards.

I can't wait until Metal Gear AC!D 2 is out.

Alot of the people who said it was bad, had no idea what they were talking about. People buy this game and dont do any reasearch and therefore expect it to be like the other metal gears. Well it isnt but that dosnt make it bad. one guy for instance said it was bad cause you cant get used to the gameplay and had to use strategies" alright, just cause your bad at something doesnt make it bad. then they went on to say that the graphics were bad and that i quote "I basically bought psp for its graphics. The game looks like it uses GBA graphics" 1 thing is that the game looks great especially on a handheld, and if your buying something for the graphics, you shouldnt be playing games, well then i guess your not a very smart gamer.

Its fun to try different strategies, fidnging new cards, useing the cards, just geting through levels, its for the deep gamer i would say, it takes a while sometimes to think through a level. very very good story, real mgs fans will love it. so if your not goign to write a serious review that has any good content just dont write it.

what do you mean you were tricked?

i guess 'turn based stratagy', 'strategic battle cards' and 'card decks' werent big enough clues that this wasnt the adverage metal gear title.

Look, this is a great game. i am proud to say that i have clocked in my 24th hour and i havent even beaten it yet.(i dont even like card based games either) if you even remotely like metal gear you will love this title. give it a try

Metal Gear Ac!d, A different Direction

I am a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, the three titles are easily my favorite PS games, so when I picked up AC!D, I was certainly hoping for something similar. I knew the game was turn based and used cards, It was still something quite foriegn to get used to. The other thing that disapointed me was the lack of cut scenes and voice acting, although I understand the PSP just can't muster the power for them all. Even with my initial disapointment though, I was suprised to find how fun this card based game was. Be warned though, there is quite a learning curve. The first true mission took me easily 30 minutes, but from there the level completion times lowered. It's strangly addictive, to the point where I take it to school (I'm currently a Highschool student) and play it during the passing periods. The "cut scene" animations (they're drawings with subtitles) are extreamly detailed, and very impressive. Overall, this game is certainly a good fix for any Metal Gear Solid fan, or for anyone who wants an action/turn based game.

Like Putting money in Acid.

I am a HUGE Metal Gear Solid fan, and I have every Metal Gear Game.I thought woah a new Metal Gear Game.So I got it, I didnt want to play it for an hour.It is reduced to a card game,a pethetic card game, and the story lines take you about 50 minuts. This is mostly reading, not a game.

Its lame! Don't waste your money...

Very long and boring movies between scenes. Way to slow play. It needs more action...

An insult to a great game series.

As other people have wrote, if you expected a real Metal Gear game for the PSP you should save your money and your temper because not only will you lose $40 bucks you'll no doubt lose your hair from pulling it out due to frustration. I absolutely love the other Metal Gear games, but this game is nothing like I thought it would be. Yes there are cards which is totally retarded, I mean come on, this is Metal Gear, not Magic The Gathering. Whoever heard of taking turns while someone is shooting at you.

You will no doubt be wanting to smash your PSP to bits when you're forced to stand there while guards repeatedly shoot you with their FAMAS rifles while you're standing there being shot not able to move because it's not your turn to do anything, so you just have to stand there and take bullet after bullet until you either die or all 5 guards have used their turns shooting you.

Sounds idiotic huh? That's because it is. However the graphics are impressive, the opening theme sounds like an 80's NES game and there are no voice overs, just text, combined with the stupid card garbage this is one game you should avoid if you are a Metal Gear fan expecting the same quality Metal Gear game on the PSP as there have been for the PS1 and PS2, however if you're into Japanese Animes, Card games etc then you might like it.
