Great for handhelds (like the ... PSP!)

This is not like any of the Metal Gear SOLID games. It has a Metal Gear feel and a Metal Gear theme, but it is not Metal Gear SOLID 4. It is Metal Gear ACID, a card/turn based game.

Although this is a card based Metal Gear, it's just as fun as the originals. It takes a while to learn the how to use the cards and to how to sneak in a turn based game, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be sneaking up on your enemies and slitting throats in no time!

I enjoyed collecting the cards. I've played levels 10+ times just to earn points to buy more card packs. Maybe one day, I'll be able to trade them with frieds ;)

The turn based system works nicely for the PSP because you won't have any problem taking it out to play for just a few seconds. Thanks to the PSP's awesomeness, when you turn it on again, you'll start up right where you left off. You can put it away in the middle of a firefight and not be totally confused when you turn it on again. Just take as much time to get re-acquainted with your game as you want.

Excellent!!!!

I really enjoy this game. I finding it hard to put it away at times because it's so addicting. I also like the fact that it's card based. It's too bad the people that are buying this game thinking it's a FPS never looked at a review or any other coverage on this game before buying it. To those: "You have no one to blame but yourselves."

My two cents

There are obviously two polarized sides to the issue of how good this game is. I started off in the camp of people saying "A card-based Metal Gear...wheeeee". Luckily for me, a friend of mine allowed me to borrow it from him, to experience it for myself (I like to try things before making my mind up about them). As soon as you learn a few basics (nothing in the game told me that another gun with the same caliber ammo counted as ammo for loading purposes), this game becomes incredibly engaging. The strategy aspect brought about by having only 6 of your myriad actions available to you at any time, and those 6 decided by chance, really adds a different intensity to the game. I have played regular MGS games, and this is different, but it's a good different, you just have to be willing to give it a chance. As a side note, essentially this game hasn't left my PSP since it's purchase over a month ago, as it is still fun to play even after I've beaten it more than a few times.

MGS acid a pleasant surprise

First off I would Like To say that I was not thrilled at the prospect of an MGS card game being a diehard MG fan that I am but after the first 2 hours of play the story becomes very engaging, this was one of the spookiest Metal Gear stories I have ever seen. One thing I would like to say to the nay sayers is through my experiense I have found when I asked Gamers who hated MGA how long did they play the game most of them said under 15 minutes and admitted to being predjudice because of the idea of a card based stealth game seemed rediculous, I blieve that at least half would change their minds if they gave it a fair chance.

A strage, yet fresh, approach to Metal Gear

I knew going into this that this Metal Gear was not one of your typical picks from the series. I did not, however, expect the game to be this good. Metal Gear: Acid has done away with complete freedom of movement and actions and has limited it to what you have been dealt of your card deck. I figured this game would be a mildly entertaining way to kill a long car trip and make a fairly decent first PSP game. I can honestly say I got much more than I expected. I love how the game feels and how much more you are forced to think and sneak around as opposed to relying on guns to get the job done (that's not to say weaponry is completely cast aside. I'm actually a big fan of how they incorporated the different types of weapons). And best of all, they still have the cardboard box! Also added in for a twist are character cards, each with a different effect which can really pull you out of a tight situation. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase, and even if you're one of the folks who bought it expecting it to be a first-person shooter, give it a second chance, huh? You won't be disappointed.

Great Story, Great Graphic, Great Game, bad cards

I think this game is really worth the money, because everything besides the card-game design is flawless. Hope they will release more Metal Gear games for PSP

If you are fan of MGS, this is must have game. Is very smart that card based game. People complain about how much time to pass a mission and all, You just have to get used to. First mission I died at least 10 times before I pass, but soon as you understand the cards, things go a lot smoother. I guess is good that I have patient. Pretty soon I'll buy "Acid 2" then "Portable Ops"

For all you PSP owners that are MGS fans a game called Metal Gear SOLID PSP is coming out-i don`t know any details about the story, characters or if it is a sequal or prequal to the MGS series-I do know that it is not a Card Strategy game like Metal Gear AC!D.It would be interesting what story it uses like who do you play-Solid Snake,Jack(Raiden) or possibly Big Boss-or is it a remake of a previous MGS title-Or is gonna be a side Story like MG-AC!D(Mst likely you play Solid Snake).
I do not have a PSP-But i will be reading reviews, previews and forums. At the momet i own Metal Gear Solid:The Twin Snakes,Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons Of Liberty,And Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater(MGS3 Best,MGS:TTS 2nd,and Sons Of Liberty third)

bye

You have to get used to the controls and be pretty patient. You kinda have to be good at figuring out how to trick the enemy and be sneaky. Once you figure out the controls and what the cards do, the game is very fun. It took me an hour just to past the first mission but after that all the other missions seems easier. Overall I wouold recomend this game. Excelent graphics.

An excellent RPG for the psp.

I thought this game was like the other Metal Gear games.
But I like RPG, and combine an RPG with the characters of Metal gear and you obtain a completely different game.

The graphics are great, it appears some scenes of Metal Gear 1, 2 and 3.

Old characters appear as special cards (cyborg ninja, roy campbell to mention some).

The only thing I have to complain is that sometimes you have to wait to much for your turn.

You can choose like 200 different cards and there are different weapons to choose including a ninja blade.

The game I think is short because it has like 23 levels
But overall I love this game, it is a cool start for your PSP, it was highly graded in Japan and I think it will have good grades here in North America.
