Which one should you choose?

When I first played this game, I wasn't sure what to expect. I only played Everquest for about three weeks before I bought DAOC, and EQ was the first Online RPG I've ever played. I wanted to try the top RPGs before I started spending money to play monthly. One thing I really enjoyed from the start that EQ doesn't have is the ability to play in 3rd person view. It is also very easy to level in the beginning, which is good and bad. The good is that you won't be discouraged to play in the beginning. The bad is its sometimes a job to get a good group going for a good amount of time because people can level as a solo player as good, or sometimes better than if you were part of a group. I found myself being invited into plenty of groups from the start in EQ.The group feeling is definitely stronger in EQ. The best way I've learned to determine whats right for you is to play them, then decide. I bought DAOC because a guy in the store rcommended it and said it was a thousand times better than EQ. Well, I guess anything would be better or refreshing if you played a game every single day for 2 years. All in all, the game is great, and People on the server say the expansion makes it alot better. I gave it 4 stars cause I'm only level 11 so I haven't seen close to everything there is to see.

Fun game

The game is fun, however after awhile it will become Tediously boring.. Once you aquire one or more level 50 charactors the only thing your able to do is Realm Vs Realm. And that does get quite old.. quite fast.. Realm vs Realm Combat is fast paced.. and can get o be annoying. Graphics are less then disireable.. however with the new expantion coming out they fixed graphics. but you MUST HAVE GEForce 3, 4 or Better to view all the graphics.. Thats pritty demanding. Overall its a great game they have fixed alot of the problems with it. I beleave 4 stars for the Effort of Mythic is deserving. They have tried hard to make a good game. Prehaps to hard. Its fun, But only for approx one year durations time.

This is the best internet-based game ever created. It runs smoothly and has a great game interface. I would recommend it to anyone.

This gameis the best rpg game i have ever played, It blows everquest, diablo II exp pack, and much more games away in the dust. The graphics are outstanding and very well done, I love all of the char choices you can choose from, because in diablo II you can ONLY PICK 6 CLasses AND U CANT PICK RACE OR ANYTHING THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME AND THEY ALL DO THE SAME THING HACK SLASH MAGIC SOUNDS THE SAME I GOT SICK OR WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH FOR ICE SOUNDS FASTER THEN YOU CAN SAY THE LETTER A.

this game is terrible, the graphics are rediculously outdated and the gampelay is horrible. i must recommend that you play Asheron's Call 2, or Asheron's Call 1 both of which are unbelievable. Do NOT buy this game.

Few problems need to be fixed for game to prosper...

Game is great however more bugs and issues are surfacing...

1 - Realms are not balanced... MIDGARD much too powerful, Albion average and Hibernia weak.

2. - Not all dungeons are itemized...ie: games not filled with content. (this is another case of product being rushed to street)

3. In-Game customer support [not good]. You submit an appeal and never hear from them. You do one offline and support tells you to contact on-line customer support.

4. Dungeons often too crowded also.

Realm wars are fun however MIDGARD always wins. Just too powerful and too many for other realms to compete. Game needs more balance. May wanna hold off on this one and look for Shadowbane at the beginning of 2K2

Doesn't Compare to Ultima Online

After four years of Ultima Online, I was looking forward to something new. This is not it, unless all you want is player vs. player combat. without the richness of social life that is found in Ultima. Ultima is so large and varied that there is always something new to do there and continues to rise to the challenges of new games by reshaping itself. I believe that this game will be a lot of fun at first but will get old fast. Back to Ultima for me.

Visually Astounding and Amazing Gameplay

Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) is the best MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game? I have ever played in my entire life. If have tried out DiaBLOWS, EverBORING, and Asheron's YAWN and all of them were pretty bad.
DAoC really impressed me, the graphics are the best I've seen in a while. They make you feel like you are in a huge living enviroment.
Also, you can choose from about 10 servers which all have hundreds of people playing on them simutaneously. UNLIKE Diablo II, you dont join a player made server with only a few people in it.
Mythic Entertainment is constantly adding things into the game to make it even better, and Mythic has highly devoted staff who moniter the servers. (So guess what CS and DIABLO II fans... there are NO hackers! Absolutely none! occasionally someone tries to hack, but they get caught and are banned from the game.)
And adding to this already jampacked, uber, awesomely addictive game is a EXPANSION PACK. Yes, yes, yes, Mythic is release Shrouded Isles to add new races and classes to the game.
I hope you enjoy it! Err... I know you'll enjoy it! l8ter

I have played pretty much all of the MMORPG's that have hit the market, most have been ok, but nothing fantastic. That is until this game. DAoC is just about one of the best games that I have played. It does seem to have alot in common with Everquest, however it has recognized Everquests shortcomings and fixed them. I almost didnt buy this game as my computer doesnt quite meet the minimum requirements, without a few upgrades. However it does seem to run fine for the most part. I would Highly recommend this game.

Addicting!

I came to this game after a year of EQ and 2 years of Asheron's, and this was a welcome change! Fantastic graphics, great quest system, and MOST of the people playing are really cool. Although there is lots to do as a solo player, most of the fun is done in groups. So being an idiot does not get you anywhere here like in other games :) So many critters to hunt and different character types to play. There is an excellent crafting system for weapons, armor, and now Spellcrafting and Alchemy. Also, the Realm vs. Realm fighting is a total blast! Nothing like running around in other realms with your friends hunting down the enemy! Oh yeah, and horses to ride :) There are some issues that need to be resolved, but Customer Support is superior and bugs/issues get taken care of promptly. If you need an online addiction, look no further.
