I'll get to the point without boring you. The only flaw is that several, the GTO, Skyline, and Impreza get about a 500 hp boost which makes them nearly untouchable, and , to be blatant, the british cars suck, which isn't the case in real life. although it doesnt totally give credit the the cars where it is deserved, this is the only game I play these days. Im thinking of getting GT2 now, since everything Ive heard about it is great.

There is no other way to describe this game than calling it the best video game of all time. I have owned almost every game system out there, and I can't ever think of a game I have enjoyed playing more than GT. The first night I had this game I played it for eleven straight hours, and I probably would not have stopped if I did not have to go to work. The graphics and realism are unbelievable, and even though there are not a ton of tracks, each one takes a good while to really master. The Arcade mode allows you a chance to take a peek at the real deal, but once you are building cars in the simulation mode you will be hooked. If you are even remotely interested in racing games this is a must have, and it even blows its sequel (GT2) out of the water. My only real complaint about the game is that some of the license tests are a little long and difficult to pass, but if you are having trouble there are always some good "cheater" web-sites out there where you can get the codes.

To be skillful at this game you need a good working knowledge of cars and driving. The real challenge is buying the accurately depicted cars and tuning them to the max. It is an effective tool in learning gear ratios, torque curves and suspension dynamics. It challenges your mental skills and stimulates your interest in car dynamics and you have fun doing it. It is non-violent, the cars do not dent in crashes.
Definately an adult game. Kids may not understand the driving and tuing nuances but teenagers like it. Enjoy!

This is more than just a racing game. I have 3 stages to go to get an A International license and if this was all there was to the game it would be worth it. The cars, parts bin,the tuning for each car and all the different race courses make it a game you never get bored with. If you don't like this game,it just might be too tough for you. Can't wait for GT2.

Graphics: 8/10 - You can see some of the computerised effects you crash or something, but all of the graphics in this game look good and give feel to the competition.
Sound: 8/10 - There could be a bit more commotion when you crash or flip or something, but the engines vrooming gives you a thrill and the creaking sound of the breaks is eye-widening.
Value: 10/10 -This game is seriously worth the money. The word value is essential when buying a game and you get your money's worth and more. In short: get it now!
Overall: 9/10 - Fabulously entertaining and complex car game that really lives up to its reputation. You'll be playing it in your sleep!

This game is excellent in every aspect of high-speed motorcar simulation. The sheer number of cars available and the option for full customization of your automobile makes this game a classic.

Gran Turismo is the colossus of the car-related console games. With one foot planted firmly and unshakeably in the middle of both arcade and simulation countries, it lends itself equally well to the hardened expert thrash or the drunken post-party pile-up. Difficulty goes from "let the walls do the steering" right up to 660bhp power slides - so everyone, from age six upwards, will both enjoy it and find it challenging.
The experience of Gran Turismo is a rich and polished one. The game actually models four separate points of grip, realistic wheelspin, perceived weight shift when accelerating or braking... you will find that this game affects your real life driving. It is the hallmark of a truly great simulator if the cars do everything a car should do, regardless of what one is SUPPOSED to do, and Gran Turismo ladles this one on thick. Even in the license tests it is possible to mess about - you won't win, but you can have a great time creating the perfect James Bond replay. Handbrake turns? Encouraged. Reverse bootlegger turns? Easy and tremendously flash. Hanging the back out? Very, very difficult, but very, very satisfying.
The replays are an absolute dream, although a little flash for the beginner; all too often your horrendous spin-out is obscured by a camera angle that waits for you to spring out of a blind bend, but this is a minor whinge. Hundreds of car models, tangible rewards for winning races - I could go on but it would bore you. Why not just buy the game and kiss boredom goodbye for many months to come?
Only please please do it justice and get hold of a Dual Shock control...

Finally the makers of racing games decided to tap into the Japanese street racer market here in the States!! I got the chance to play both versions of this game (Japanese and American) and both do a great job of bring cars you'd see on the streets (and a few that you won't ever see on the street) to life on the screen. Modifying your car as you go in order to make it faster or handle better is so much like a real race experience that you feel like you've got much more than a game here. The physics and dynamics of the rear end of the car sliding away from you as you power through a turn and out-braking another car into a turn just add to the adrenaline rush of taking off from the starting line and dusting all of your opponents. What can I say?? GT is a fantastic game and I can't wait to see what they do with GT2.
