THIS IS THE FUNNEST CAR GAME YOU WILL EVER EXPERIENCE WITH MORE THAT 100 REALISTIC DIFFERENT CARS AND A CHANCE TO GET YOUR LICENCE ALL IN ONE GAME. YOU CAN EVEN BUY AND INCREASE CAR SPEEDS.

Fantastic - if you dont have this game, buy it now!!

This game delivers everything it promises - and more. From Honda Civics to Dodge Vipers; this game has it all. One player is suitably tough - just enough to keep you coming back for more...You start with $10000 with which you buy a (used) car of your choice and go racing. You have to pass a variety of driving tests which enable you to race on more varied tracks and races for richer awards.

Two player is great fun but the problem here is that there are only ever two cars on the track in this mode (would be REALLY great if you could race each other with other AI cars too!)

There are a whole host of upgrades and mods to be made to any car available in the game. The only shortcoming (if there had to be one) is the ommission of some of the world's truly awesome cars; no BMW, no Porsche and no Ferrari. But hell, you get TVR, Dodge, Nissan, Mazda to name a few.

The controls are great (Analogue is a must here) and the responses are all different. If you only buy one racing game for the PSX; get this one.

A Classic!!!

Ive had Gran Turismo for a while, and even though i have the second one, i still play this one. Why? I dont think any game will ever put an impact on gamers like Gran Turismo did. Even though there are new games coming out with slightly better graphics, this game is still a killer. its always fun to play, and experiment with new cars. i will never give away or sell this game. if you like racing/cars, then you'll fall in love with this one. that is, if you dont have it. if you do have it, you cant argue with me. theres no sense in trying, because this game is the best.

Great Racing Game!

Top Notch Racing Action

The absolute BEST racing game I've evr played. I've played other games claiming to be a "GT Killer", but nothing comes close. It's very realistic; if you aren't good enough to earn your license, you're not good enough to play the higher levels of the game. Although I was dissappionted with no car damage, the intensity of the graphics and addicting gameplay more than make up for it. A must for any gamer!

great game / sim but missing a few fundamentals

The best racing sim made so far, but they need to improve this game in a few key areas. Slipstreaming (drafting) is an essential tactic in real racing, and they forgot to put it in the game completely. Rain is always an issue and affects your tire selection and speed greatly, as well as totally changing the cars handling. There is no rain in GT. The user interface is way too tedious for adjusting your gear ratios; it takes up to 10 minutes to just change the ratios. It would be nice to add SCCA Autocross racing, as you would use the street cars already in the game. Autocross if you dont know, is the cheap way to race. They set up cones in a parking lot and you time-trial around it by yourself. Finally, where are the Porsches?

Pretty good

Effortlessly dusting the competition, Gran Turismo flashes past the finish line with slick controls and stellar gameplay. It's easily the best of the PlayStation's realistic racing games.
Starting off in the garage, Turismo scores big with 166 real-life cars, ranging from the lowly Honda Civic to the high-end dream machines like the Corvette, Viper, and Toyota Castrol Supra. The excellent selection of tracks delivers plenty of variety, and Turismo performs like a winner with no draw-in, speedy load times, and blazing-fast action. But gameplay is where Turismo really rocks. A fast, pick-up-and-play Arcade mode, along with topnotch two-player split-screen racing, positions Turismo at the head of the pack for casual racing fans. And hardcore racers who delve into the amazing Sim mode will uncover impressive depth. It's almost like fantasy league racing-you test for licenses, participate in a wide array of events, buy and maintain as many cars as you can afford, and even upgrade their performances with a vast multitude of parts.
Need for Speed III may have more flash, but Turismo's got more game. It's one of the must-buy titles of this summer.

The best game ever

This is the besty game ever. I think it'sbetter than GT2, because it is more challenging, and in GT2, not all(in fact very few) of the cars can get a racing mod, in this one, all except for maybe 10 special models can. Both haveGreat songs, for racing, from garbage, ash, and Stone temple pilots, but unlike GT2, GT1 doesn't have annoying N64 style music after you finish the race! I hate that music, it makes me think i'm a video game junkie because it resembles the junkee's game system music, I had tu turn off the music, I couldn't stand it!

This is the second best racing game of all time. (Gran Turismo 2 being the first.) It has hundreds of real cars that handle just like the real thing. I just hope that Sony comes out with GT3.
