You must buy this!

Great game, I find myself captivated by MR2 until all hours of the night. Raising monsters and entering tournaments...There is always something new to try. The game keeps you occupied, there are never any long boring moments. Make sure you check other web sites for tips on raising a champion monster. Unfortunately, the instruction booklet is horrible. Overall, 5 stars! You gotta buy this game.

This is a great game. I can play it for hours on end. Basically, you are a monster trainer. You train you monster using either a week long drill or a four week errantry. These two things can improve your monsters speed, skill, power, defense, intelligence or life. The errantry can also teach you monster a move but it costs money. You also fight in tournaments against other trainers monsters and you can choose whether or not to control your own monster. Sometimes it is just fun to relax and let your monster do the fighting. There are 2 ways to get monsters. The first is unlocking a CD, any CD, and the second way is to go to the market and they will give you one for free. You can also sell monsters back to the market. You also can only have one monster out at a time. If you are going to buy this game you need a memory card to save. It is a good buy.

Worse than caffeine or cigarettes

Being a fan of the original Monster Rancher, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sequel. Let me tell you, it is worth every penny and then some. My whole circle of friends and acquaintances is hooked on this game; it's that addictive. If you're familiar with Pokemon, the concept is similar; you 'unlock' monsters, train them, raise them, help them learn, and eventually fight them in battles. The great thing about this game is the unique manner in which you unlock monsters; every cd you own creates a monster from the data on the cd! You can create monsters from Playstation games, Dreamcast games, PC or Mac software, music cds, you name it! The true addictiveness of this game becomes apparent soon enough; an avid Monster Rancher fan can be heard muttering, "I wonder what monster this cd makes" in the aisles of Sam Goody. Several websites devoted to cataloging cds have sprung up; the primary two being my own, ..., and Josie Nutter's, ....

By all means purchase this game, but you can kiss your free time goodbye. Believe me, you'll do it gladly.

Some people may think that Monster Rancher is a stupid Pokemon clone with absolutely no entertainment value. They are very wrong. Monster Rancher 2 is one of my favorite games. You start out by either going to the market and getting a monter or regenerate one yourself by going to the shirne and using a "disc stone" (CD). The main object of the game is to raise and train your monster. You have to decide which stats will benefit your monster the most in a battle. Some monsters are better at some stats than others. For example, a Durahan has wonderful power and defense but awful speed. One feature that I really like about this game is that it never ends. To actually beat the game, you must beat the Major 4 tournaments, the hardest in the game. Once you do that, it doesn't stop. You can combine monsters together to make even more powerful ones. Some monsters aren't available at the start of the game, but they can soon be unlocked. The only drawback is that MR2 does get somewhat repetative, but it's still a great game.

If you like pokemon you will like this!

Think of it as a 32 bit Pokemon game. If you are a fan of Pokemon you will love this, but even if you arent you will still be scouring your house at midnight looking for that one CD that will give you one of the 400 monsters that will bring you to the A class. In fact, I even went so far as to borrow Cd's from my friends. This is a must buy!

If you like the feeling of finding something new?

MR2 is great for people with patience and who are willing to go through hundreds of compact discs to find a rare or new monster to raise. But first you must go through adventures and battles within the game to release these rare monsters. A few upgrades from the first Monster Rancher, such as the drills and errantries. It gets really repetitive once you find all the secrets and goodies. Overall its a game to pass the time, if you have nothing else better to do.

Well, if you've ever played animal games, you might like this one. You have a goal to acheive by breeding many monsters to put them in combat for many different reasons. Just make sure you don't run out of money- you'll lose the game! When you figure out that you can unlock monsters with all the CDs in your home, you'll go outside, going door by door asking everybody and anybody to borrow CDs. But be warned. Monsters can and will die due to harsh treatment, so be careful.

Strange Game

This game is strange indeed. But give it a chance, you will find it is very addicting. It's wierdness is very alluring. You may find you are repulsed by your own monster. Until he begins to enter tournaments, then something awakens within you. This game has a high replay value.

This game is amazing!

Monster Rancher 2, as well as the first, is a must buy for anyone! It is a challenge and extremely fun all at the same time. It is the best Playstation game that I have ever played, and many others think so as well. If I were you, I would buy this game before it becomes hard to find!
