i just got this game and played it all last night. its really moody - play with your lights out! the people seem well thought out and the puzzles are cool. i felt tense the whole time i was playing. pretty sure i know who did it!

Great Story Line...

This game has an excellent and interesting story line. The graphics are great, and there is a lot of area to explore. The characters are all interesting with their own personalities. I will say that I found this game pretty difficult. I collected like 40 inventory items quickly, and it became overwhelming to keep track of the items. (especially since most of them have to be combined.) Sometimes I felt myself not knowing what to do next. BUT, I feel that the GREAT story line makes up for all of this!

Much better games out there....

Being an avid roll-playing gamer, I thought this game would fall into the lines of Darkness Falls, Black Mirror, Syberia, The Longest Journey, or even Nancy Drew.
I was extremely disappointed. The graphics were pretty decent, and initially the story line compelled me to want to play more. But the game is SO slow. Everytime something happens, you need to talk to everyone in the room, and it is so time consuming and pointless for the most part.
If you are an Agatha Christie fan, you might appreciate this game more, but if you are looking for a good adventure/mystery, this is not it.

Good beginner adventure...

I was eager to buy this game because it was a mystery and based on a novel by Agatha Christie. However, I've been slightly disappointed.

This game reminds me a lot of Clue: Fatal Illusion that came out years ago and was supposed to be the first in a series a clue games, that we never saw, as this is supposed to be a series a Agatha Christie games.

I played this game after finishing the Syberia Series and the latest Nancy Drew. Needless to say, the graphics don't compare to either, you don't have anything stunning like Syberia and it's not as nicely done as in ND series.

Graphics:
It's very rough around the edges graphics, an the people are chunky/blocky and move stiff. There is way too much to the island and half of the scenes you walk through serve no purpose but to see gloomy/cloudy/rainy and boring scenery.

Movement:
The character can never hit the door handle for instance; he seems to reach somewhere to the left or right of it. When it comes to going up or down steps, the character kind of walks in thin air for a moment and he is very slow.

Scenes:
The fade scenes can be long and drawn out, with totally unnecessary information, and you cannot click through them, so it gets boring fast.

Puzzles:
The puzzles/tasks are either very easy or totally obscure. In some "chapters" (there are 10) all you do is walk around and make sure the occupants of the house are asleep, boring... and in others all you do is ask them questions, every single one of them. Some of the puzzles make absolutely no sense at all, it's like the writers just took random objects, threw them together, and decided that was the solution for whatever problem. Most of the puzzles don't do anything useful for the game at all.

Music/Sound:
The music is the same thing over and over and over. The sound effects are mostly birds and rain.

Plot:
The plot is good, probably because it's based on a book, which is about the only thing that is keeping me interested at this point, to see "whodunit". The game claims you can have multiple endings, but I'm not really sure how you trigger them.

I have not finished the game and I've had to look up only a few hints, for the obscure solutions, but so far I'm bored. The game seems to be pretty long, which is usually good, but when you're doing seemingly useless tasks that do not help at all, it gets old fast.

If you like mysteries and you're a beginner gamer, then it's a good game, if you don't mind all the clicking here and there and everywhere or the totally insane puzzle solutions. If your looking for a high graphic game where everything seems lifelike, forget it, you won't find it here. If you're a seasoned adventure gamer and have played Syberia, etc. and solved really hard puzzles, this will be a breeze. I'm playing it for the storyline now, which is pretty good, but it's a game I'll be quick to sell when I'm done. If they continue the series, I would buy them for the sake that they are a murder mystery/adventure, but I hope they will improve the games in the next releases.

Fun turns cumbersome

This started out as a fun, addicting game. By the time I got half way through it, I felt it became a chore. The character has to run all over an island searching for clues that have to be found in a pretty specific order. Nice idea, but it should be more fun.

Great Fun!

I'm a Nancy Drew game fanatic and while waiting for a new one to come out this game caught my eye. I looked at the box and although I was unfamiliar with Agatha Christies work I thought this looked really good. I passed it up once but the next time I was at Target I gave in and bought it. For me at first the game was slow (grafic wise that is) but it seemed the more I played it the faster the grafics got.

I thought the mystery in this game was awesome and unlike Nancy Drew where once a suspect always a suspect your list of suspects get slimmer and slimmer until eventually you really can't trust ANYONE! The mystery in this game is when you as the twelveth character are stranded on an island with a bunch of others who were all invited for a house party by the unknown U.N Owen. The house is huge and Mr. Owen is late. That is until murders begin. The killer uses a poem about 10 sailor boys who all die horrible deaths (eaten by a fish, drugged, frizzled by the sun, etc. etc). The more you go on the less suspects you have. Oh and all the suspects were accused of murder!

I found it almost impossible to play without a walkthrough. So I kept one beside me and glanced at it at necessary times.I thought the culprit and the ending to be awesome! I was really surprised! I also liked how you could see the original ending after a little challenge. Over all I found this game wonderful and a great series to play while waiting for Nancy's latest game. I think the series will be fun and mysterious. Plus the games include a free book of which the game was based. A great game for a stormy day! Can't wait for the 3rd game!

Cannot Understand the Good Reviews

I'm not a big gamer but once in a while I'm intrigued by a title and I pick it up. The last adventure game I bought was "Runaway - A Road Adventure" which I enjoyed a lot.

I can't same this same for this game. In fact I found it so dull I only made it through the 2nd chapter and quit playing it. The graphics (especially the human characters) are crude. The game play consists of picking up seemingly endless inventory items (really, it was ridiculous) and quizzing the other characters by asking them the same questions over and over so I trigger the next scene in the game.

I would not recommend this at all. The old King's Quest games of the 1980s were far more entertaining than this!

Great Mystery Game With a Few "Issues"

I really enjoyed playing "And Then There Were None"! The gist of the story is this: 10 people are lured to an island in the middle of nowhere - each having been promised something to attend a weekend party at the request of a Mr. & Mrs. Owens. However, when they arrive, they come to find that both the host & hostess are delayed & won't be able to join them for at least a day.

Then, 1 by 1, the murders begin - with each one bringing with it new anxieties for those who are left. They realize that the deaths correspond to a ghostly rhyme about 10 little sailor boys being killed. Who could the infamous Mr. Owens be & why has he chosen them to be his victims? It's up to you, as Mr. Naracott, to find this out.

Overall, I found the graphics to be realistic & there quite a few neat places to explore. The reason I've given this game 4 stars instead of 5 is that several of the tools picked up along the way were of no use to the game & there were quite a few times that I needed to consult a walkthrough (I used UHS hints) because what needed to be done was not logical & no hints were given about them within the game. Having said that, I would still highly recommend this game. If you enjoy playing mystery games you may just want to give this one a try.

Disappointing

I tried hard to like this game but it's just too boring. The worse thing for me is the dialogue and voice acting. I could put up with the poor character graphics if the characters at least had some interesting things to say. There are very few puzzles. The action consists mainly of picking up a lot of items and using them in ridiculous, nonintuitive ways. A real disappointment. Save your money.

This one (yawn) gives adventure games a bad name.

I'll make a confession right up front -- I didn't finish this game. Life is too short and there are too many other things to do than spend hours on a game you really don't enjoy.

Frankly, I like my games fairly leisurely paced, without a lot of running, jumping and shooting. But even I thought this yawn-producing game was a bore. Click click click ... move the character to that room, look around, try to find a hotspot. Then click click click ... move the character to another room. Talk to each of the other characters (again and again, asking the same questions). Click click click.

If a game requires a great deal of environmental exploration, the setting must be interesting and this one isn't (as far as I got anyway). There is the obligatory large mansion, with a large number of items that serve absolutely no purpose and elicit the same remarks from the main character (and no way to shut him up once he gets started). Compared to a Myst-type game or Syberia, Longest Journey, the Broken Sword titles, etc., this is absolutely claustrophobic.

Game movement is tiresome, with static "paths" that must be followed to get from one place to another and the graphics are mediocre.

There is no logic to the so-called "puzzles" (which amount merely to finding inventory items, combining them, etc.). Why, for instance, were the flashlight batteries hidden in the flour sack in the pantry? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Finally, the game is so linear that it should come with its own ruler. At one point, you can't progress to the next stage until you've talked to everyone in the room. Miss one of them and you can wander for hours without anything changing. Once you get that last bit of dialog in, zap! The scene shifts and you can move on.

Judging from the other reviews I've read, I'm definitely in the minority so perhaps I needed to be more patient with this game. Maybe it gets better as time goes on. But have you ever played a game to the end even though it had become a chore, just because you hoped it might improve and actually be worth the money you paid for it? I didn't want that to happen to me with this one!
