The game was advertised as VISTA compatable but when I received I found that it was not so I had to return it.

I guess I should preface this review by saying I prefer to play first-person shooters so my experience my be different from those who enjoy slow-paced puzzle games. I bought it to take a break from one of the more intense games I own. Anyway, the game was extremely boring for me and the pacing did not help. I had no interest in solving the puzzles and most of them did not seem to advance the plot in any way. The graphics were disappointing, at best. I am returning this game first thing in the morning.

Not worthy of the Agatha Christie name

I was VERY disappointed with this product. I love Agatha Christie's books, but the ending of this game was certainly not written by her. There is an additional ending once you've completed the game that keeps with the book. The graphics are as advanced as Pac-Mac. If you love Agatha Christie, you'll be very disappointed in this product.

The person that put 'AGATHA CHRISTIE & TRUE CRIME on Amazon to sell has no idea of what their doing. The main reason i bought these 2 games is because it "said" that it's WINDOWS VISTA COMPATABLE, which it's not! How unbelieveable is that. Not only that it took 7 days to get here when E-bay you get your stuff within 3 days of purchasing the product. Last but not least i gotta return this product because the seller has no f****** clue what their advertising. What a waste of time this was.... E-BAY ALL THE WAY!!!

I feel cheated...

So I'm at a point early in the game in which I can't go upstairs without a light. The flashlight I found has no batteries and though I've matches I can't seem to make a flaming torch from anything in my kit. Haven't been able to find any batteries. As someone else here wrote, if you do something out of sequence the game can get stuck. Unlike Herinteractive these programmer-geeks at AWE think too linearly and haven't woken up to the internet age and the ability to create a hints board. My daughter's pretty fed up with this game and I don't blame her.

Disappointing

I tried hard to like this game but it's just too boring. The worse thing for me is the dialogue and voice acting. I could put up with the poor character graphics if the characters at least had some interesting things to say. There are very few puzzles. The action consists mainly of picking up a lot of items and using them in ridiculous, nonintuitive ways. A real disappointment. Save your money.

If it worked, it may have been great!

I received the game in the mail and greatly looked forward to playing it. It came with a copy of the classic novel, which was the only thing that functioned properly. I e-mailed the company. They promptly e-mailed me asking me to resend the details of the resultant error messages. I have done so repeatedly with zero further acknowledgement.

Oh, Agatha

I bought this with the intention of giving it to my mom, but naturally I thought I'd "test" it out first to see if it was something she'd enjoy. After playing it through, I have decided to sell the game rather than subject her to its frustrations.

This game is based on a mystery, but this is not a mystery game. Don't worry about trying to figure out who's the killer because even if you did figure it out, there's nothing you can do about it. Your job is just to explore things, pick up objects, solve a handful of puzzles (mostly object-manipulation based), and figure out what is going to trigger the next cutscene and "Chapter." (In each chapter, one of the 10 characters gets killed.)

Technically the game seems to be stuck in a past era. The character animations look hokey. The areas you move through are static shots from one angle. Isn't it time all games had 360-degree views and movement? Your character runs from one side of the screen to the other. It gets dull. Even worse, whenever you talk to a character, there is no way to bypass the dialogue if you've already heard it.

The game does not function like a mystery. There are few clues. Everybody is equally suspicious and always has equal opportunity to commit each crime (so watching who's where when doesn't help). Even if you solve the mystery (which you can if you figure out how to test for fingerprints), there is nothing you can do about it. You have to progress the game to chapter 10, watching people get murdered, by jumping through the game's predetermined hoops.

Simply put, the game isn't much fun. It also doesn't show much imagination. The way they've shoehorning a popular Agatha Christie novel into a tired old game format is (1) a shrewd way for the game company to turn a profit, and (2) an exercise in blowing the opportunity to make something innovative and cool. If you've got the rights to one of the best-selling mysteries of all time, why phone in an uninspired adaptation of it? Why not jump on the opportunity to make something that people will really dig and recommend to friends?

I would like to see somebody make a real computer-game mystery sometime. It wouldn't be that hard to do. So far, it just hasn't happened. I guess mysteries, with their definite endings, aren't open-ended enough to be considered worth the time and money it takes to develop a detailed, high-quality game. Too bad. A long time ago I played the all-text Infocom games, which included some mysteries -- "Deadline," "Witness" and "Suspect." They were quite enjoyable little mysteries and they had multiple ending possibilities ("And There Were None" does, but each ending is very nearly the same). They had the added advantage that you could type in precise questions for the suspects, so you actually had to come up with dialogue to solve the story (rather than selecting from pre-fabricated dialogue). The Infocom games also had a sense of humor, and they had red herrings and game results that showed the creators had anticipated various things the players would try. How hard would it be to use these same principles in a modern game?

Cannot Understand the Good Reviews

I'm not a big gamer but once in a while I'm intrigued by a title and I pick it up. The last adventure game I bought was "Runaway - A Road Adventure" which I enjoyed a lot.

I can't same this same for this game. In fact I found it so dull I only made it through the 2nd chapter and quit playing it. The graphics (especially the human characters) are crude. The game play consists of picking up seemingly endless inventory items (really, it was ridiculous) and quizzing the other characters by asking them the same questions over and over so I trigger the next scene in the game.

I would not recommend this at all. The old King's Quest games of the 1980s were far more entertaining than this!

Rating For The Software

This game seemed like it was going to be exellent when i read about it.Well i got to play about fifteen minutes of it.I dont know if my copy had a glitch. The game would shut down everytime.Im taking back the game as soon as a go back to the store. My computer met all the requirements .

As for the game that far,Pros:The story was great. It was set up to be a really great mystery.
Cons:Besides softare problems. The game moved about really slowly. It took forever to get from point a to b.The game was a bit confusing.I really had no idea what to do.You basicaly run around collecting clues, that really made no sense.Maybe if the game would have stayed running longer i would have liked it.Im going to try and avoid software from this company in the future.
