I bought Myst a number of months ago and i was shocked by the incredibly beatifuly pre-rendered graphics! I was so engrossed in this game that i actually felt as if i knew each world as if i had been there before! unfortunatly ,because of that, when the game came to the finish (Which was a VERY long time because it is an enoumous game)i was upset that i had to leave the world of Myst! i would recomend this game to anyone who loves easy going games with excellent puzzles. Warning : Attention to detail is required for each beautifully rendered screen! Brill!

This gane is trully a non-linear experience, and I oten found mysef spinning in circles. When I played, I found myself up altogether too late, calling friends around the country who started at the same time just to share the excitement. Certainly a good game for anyone, but especially for those who don't get too excited for the blast this, jump over that, kill that one games that dominate the market, athough that croud too would likely enjoy this, even if only for the astounding quality of the game, graphics and puzzles.

THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robyn and Rand Miller have created a masterpiece! Considering this game was made in 1993 the graphics are incredible. The puzzles may be impossible but still amazing. What's even more amazing is how the game was made. If you watch The Making of Myst on the CD you'll see the ingenous ways Robyn and Rand used to make Myst.

great fun worth its few shortcomings

Myst is a fun, fascinating, addictive, and very difficult first person puzzle adventure game with a good storyline. The plot isn't immediately obvious, but is revealed bit by bit and finally in its entirety at the end. You must figure things out partly through making inferences based on what you know and partly through written clues.

Finishing takes patience (it's a LONG game) and an ability to figure things out that aren't immediately obvious and/or cheating by using strategy guide (you can buy one or find one on the internet) or asking someone who's played before.

The game's settings are each innovative, very pretty, and feel very realistic, with the exception of the water in Myst (it looks like a giant green mat). Rand Miller's performance in the game as the character of Atrus is good enough, and his performance as Achenar is even better, as is Robyn Miller's as Sirrus. The sound effects and background music are great.

I do think two puzzles are unfair, but they are solvable if you cheat (see above) or have a really good memory and a really good ear. The interface also makes getting to certain locations more of a hassle then it should be sometimes.

The ending (even if you get the happy one) explains a lot but leaves many questions unanswered.

Despite ifs flaws, I love it and highly recommend it.
