Does it deserve even ONE star?????????

One word sums it up: ugh I AM a Squaresoft addict. This must be one of their goofs, and to hear that from me is really rare. You can be several little characters all with plots that combine - says the game. However, I find it odd - there ARE no plots. Just the hint of a story and some crummy graphics. I played the stupid games for a couple hours only to realize that it was dumb and pointless. EVERY character has no life. Plus, bosses are IMPOSSIBLE and the battle system is crummy. This is certainly one RPG to skip!!

Where is the plot?

Well it all boils down to this, some games are good and some games are bad. This game happens to be the latter of the two. I just could not find a point, and belive me I tried. I really did. The game tells you where to go for about a half hour then your on your own,you arive in an airport and from there you can travel anywhere in the game. You meet a group of freaks that just start following you and give no reason for doing so. I played for about 3 hours and had several hundred freaks following me, all of which could do nothing. All the attacks were terrible and at one point one of my many freaks cut a rope using a pipe. A pipe? Yes a pipe. Does this game even end? I can't see how considering theres no story. To sum it up it is a waste of time especially to experienced RPG players like myself.

It Sucked

I bought this game when it first came out. I am a really big fan of the Final series, but I put in the game and played blue. I had no idea what to do I played for a few hours and really had no sence of plot. I still havent beat the game because there ar so many better games such as Luner now thats a great game I played it for Saga CD when it came out I was a freshmen in High School. I am now a JR. in college and I went out and bought it when relesed for Playstation. Dont waste your money. The only reason I didnt give it a one is the concept is orginal.

Seven characters on seven big quests. Sounds like an idea, huh? Well, the thing is...ideas don't always translate well. My biggest complaint is that this game is WAY too tedious. In order to pass any of the seven quests, you'll have to wade through countless battles with minimum rewards to accrue enough money and stats to pass the end. Most of the game is spent on incessant fighting, which just isn't enough to keep me glued for long. But alas, even the stories aren't all that great. Of the seven quests, some of them intertwining with others in some fashion, I found perhaps two to be mildly compelling, and when I say mildly compelling, I mean they'd be worth a mini-quest in other, more thought out RPGs. Even then, there just isn't enough depth to draw one in. Implied lesbian characters aside, there isn't much to recommend this game.

hmmm....

After playing Saga Frontier, I'm one of those people wondering why I had to give it a star at all. I spent days playing, but I never found the point and I tired of running around in circles. However, everyone's reviews are either one star or five and it's making wonder if I might have missed something; I'm an openminded person so I'm going to play again, and try to determine whether or not those giving it five stars are out of their ... minds. This review is probably no help at all, although it has to be easier to understand than the game itself.

CRAPTACULAR!

this is the absolute WORST game I have ever played on PlayStation. don't even waste your money by renting it. I would give it -5 stars if I could. if you want a good RPG, buy Legend of Dragoon.

Another horrible mistake in the dark years of Square

Yes, it's from THAT time period. What I can't believe is that they actually made a 2nd one. And now one in the same Saga series for PS2 is out in Japan, hopefully it won't be as much of a dog as these 2 were. The only thing I can comment on is, decent graphics.

Definately more entertaining than any Final Fantasy

Sure it might not be for everyone, but the game play is very fluid. There are no stupid random encounters. I played through as Blue and got sucked into the game like no other game has done since. I don't condsider the game to be playable with all 7 characters though. The missions are all basically the same regardless of who you play as and it will get monotonous quick.

You either Love it or Hate it.

I will start off by saying this game is definitely not for everyone.

The game starts off by allowing you to choose from one of seven characters. Each one has their own story (some better than others). I will say that Square did advertise the game to be something it isn't (seven different games) which it is not.

***Graphics***
Some nice locales and some plain looking locales. While the lighting (outside of battle), special effects (in battle), and monsters (in battle) appear quite nice; however, the characters have few frames of animation and don't have much detail.

***Gameplay***
The open-ended gameplay isn't for everyone. The game is non-linear and at times, it becomes difficult to find your next destination.

In battle, you select commands to attack; however, your characters learn a series of new attacks when they use the attacks they begin with. Characters also learn team attacks when they use their attacks often. This is a pretty cool feature as battles don't become stale fast.

***Music***
Beautifully orchestrated music. This is one of the highlights of this game.

Pros:
-Music is a pleasure to listen to
-Characters learn MANY moves by use of the ones listed in their command window
-Seven different characters to choose from

Cons:
-While there are seven different characters to choose from, some of the stories are weak
-Open-ended gameplay isn't for everyone
-Graphics may be a turn off to some
-Difficult Navigation
-Squaresoft Advertised the game as something it is not.

This is a game I would have to recommend others to rent first (if you want to try it out). I personally love the game; however, I can see why many wouldn't like it. You either fall into the half the like the game or hate it.
