Singleplayer=****
Multiplayer=*****
Fun=****1/2
Graphics=*****
Innovation=****
The new developer Treyarch decided to go for a slightly different feel in COD3. First of all, they've done away with wall-vaulting and added things Treyarch felt would improve the game, such as pretty fun jeep-driving sequences and annoying minigames with the controller. However, the Call of Duty series is still the best WWII shooter out there.(NOTE:The graphics are probably better than any FPS on a 360 yet, and rank just below the GOW level)
-Singleplayer:
The very beginning of COD3 is very much like COD2. You start out with some mundane target shooting and grenade throwing. After you complete the basics you're loaded onto a truck . But this is where the similarity stops. Your convoy is ambushed and you hop over a wall into a graveyard. However instead of fighting the small squads of Germans alongside 5-7 squad members like in the first level in COD2, you'll find around 25 allies advancing against similar numbers of Nazis. Meanwhile, the entire map is literally exploding around with bombs and mortars. You leave the first level amazed. These parts are the parts that make COD3 good, but the whole game isn't like this. COD 3 has many small problems, rather than a few large ones. I've noticed that the scripted animations for this game are fantastic, but ordinary animations such as peeking out of cover are not as good as they should be in a next-gen game. Also I've noticed some occasional pops and glitches on a few larger maps (this problem is absent in Multiplayer). In addition to this the cutscenes are unskippable, which can be irritating if you intend on playing this game multiple times.
-Multiplayer:
Treyarch decided to improve on COD2's weak multiplayer by adding both vehicles, and a new game mode. The new multiple occupancy vehicles work great, as well as the BF2-like game mode "War". The maps in multiplayer have less lag than the large singleplayer maps.
-Overall:
COD3 is not a better game than its predecessor, but it has some new things that may attract fans of COD2 such as improved visuals, great physics, and destructible environments. But, the setting is getting very old, and COD needs a change.

Bugs, bugs, bugs, glitches, glitches, glitches...

WTF??? Can anyone tell me WTF??? I rented this crap from blockbuster, I get home and finish it in one day... Well, all day, but it was just one day. And why did I seem to get stuck on everything, walls, my own guys, the air. Come on. Did this even get tested before they shipped? Granted the graphics were much better then COD2, but did the game have to tell me how to play the it over and over? I can see when I was taking too much damage. I remember to click rt, and lt back and forth. Most of the time, I didn't have to do a thing. If you just wait, your team (AI) would do the work for you. What a joke! What were they thinking? I did like the fact you could cook your grenades, but who cares. Maybe it would be good online, which was useless (grenades because you could see where they were and just move before they went off) in Call of Duty 2 online. To sum it up, the game was a complete let down. I say, rent the game, and see for yourself. At least you can say you played it. Along with all the other 12 year old kids that love this crap. And if you don't like this, you can get the f*&k out!!

I agree with the person before me who left a comment about this game. I also got this game when it came out and it kept freezing in various spots. So I returned it to the store and got another of the same game thinking that this was just a chance event, but boy was I wrong. When I turned it on it worked no problem for a few hours or so then it froze up and I had to restart which was a real pain, this happend to regularily so I got tired and exchanged it for another game title.
The game itself is great and the graphics are amazing if you can actually get it to work.
Having the fact that it could freeze at anytime takes a lot of the fun out of this game.

Under-rated; it is very good

I don't understand the negative take some people have on this game; i found it really fun in single, and fantastic in multiplayer - it is the game that has stayed in my 360, and I have many others from c and c to gears of war and burnout revenge.

The maps are very good, and when you get tired of them there are some pretty good download maps too.

Lot of fun - worth the money

Even though this game is more evolutionary (over Call of Duty 2) than revolutionary, it is still a lot of fun and well worth the money I spent. And I haven't even started the online multiplayer yet.

Nice but short

Well to begin, I've been a huge fan of the Call of Duty series since Finest Hour. That was the first time I was introduced to online play and I've been hooked ever since. CoD2 was a great game and I was expecting a follow up by the same company. Well, Treyarch was given the project but I gave the game a chance. In fact, I've given the game many chances but I'll get to that later.

The graphics are among the best I've seen. Everything is extremely detailed. The lighting effects are amazing among other things. The one thing that really impressed me, this may seem odd, but the explosion effects were really good. But overall, the graphics are really good.

Let's start with the story mode. I was so used to CoD2's type of story mode with different campaigns. That game was great, so when this came along with one campaign I figured a change in the scheme of things is good. The story is ok but to be honest, its like a John Wayne movie, kind of a stereotypical WWII if you know what I mean. And no offense to John Wayne but the story behind this game is well, mediocre. Also, in between levels there are the cut scenes obviously. Well guess what, YOU CAN'T SKIP THEM. That made me angry.

Then there is the multiplayer. I've had no problems with the offline splitscreen, but online play is a whole other story. At first, it took me a good 15 minutes to join a ranked match before any patches. After the patch that was supposed to fix these problems, it still takes me a good bit of time. Also, the American weapons have an obvious advantage of the German weapons. The German equivalent to the semi-automatic M1 Garand is a bolt action Kar-98k. Obviously, if you aren't that good with making killer shots, you're outgunned. What Treyarch should have done is put the semi-automatic Gweher 43 against the M1, makes a lot more sense if you ask me.

The glitches in this game are pretty annoying. I've gotten stuck in corners, shot at through not 2 but 3 solid walls, I've encountered invincible Nazi soldiers, and I've done this thing where I've gone into prone and then I fly scoot across the level as if I were sprinting. Along with that are floating objects. I've seen a frying pan and a tank in the air so far.

Overall, this game is OK but I probably would have rented it before I bought it. I recommend to anyone and everyone to rent this before you buy it. I still enjoy the game, but it could have been much much better than it is right now.

The best game I own

COD 3 is a great game with life-like animations and heart-stopping action. The Xbox Live multiplayer is even better. I love this game!

Great Multiplayer fun

The singleplayer is nothing to special, but still entertaining. The game really shines on Xbox live. If you like great multiplayer games then I would get COD3.
