Five Stars for Frustration

I deeply regret purchasing The Two Towers based on people's good reviews. Will never trust the reviewers again. Taught me a good lesson that I should always rent the game to check it out beforehand rather than blindly going by what majority of the reviewers said. I played less than a full 30 minutes of the game before I gave up on it. Nice graphics and great sound but frustratingly limiting and absolutely no incentive for me to get to the next level.

This game is [bad]

This game is [bad], it fun for the first 5 minutes until you complete the game in less then 5, 6 hours. Also the game itself is [bad], it follows EXACTLY like the movie, you can only move, and play in the areas you see in the game. No freedom to do anything that the game doesn't want you to do. While you get ganged up on by 10 guys you can't move to fight, the mechanics and collision detection needs a lot of work. But read the other reviews they were put on here before the game was released. The could have made this a great game but blew it BIG TIME. nice work EA

EA did a great job.

The instant the game comes on, you get absorbed into the story/game. There is a complaint that the game follows exactly like the movie...thats beause its based on the movies. There are cut scenes from both "Fellowship" and "Two Towers", hence the absorbtion quality. The movies themselves were done very well, hence, so is the game. The game is veritably short...on easy. Multiple character play and difficulty makes for good replay value. Game play itself is ok...takes a bit to get used to the controls (i.e. its easist to use the R T-stick for special moves but still need to use X or B button to pull off linked moves and such). As it is now the only problems I have with the game is this (1.) There is no way to delete saved games...unless im an idiot (2.) When you finish a level, you have a chance to purchase special moves...when you exit that screen, there is no going back until you finish the next level. Thats more of an annoyance than anything, and (3.) No multiplayer. In a nutshell, LOTR or not, this is a great slashing, hacking, stabbing, throat cutting game. If its not bought, its definitly worth the rent. For myself...its a keeper.

One of the worst games I've played

If I want to watch the movie, I'll watch the movie. This game spends so much time forcing you to see scenes from the film. The only movements are along certain paths with single camera angles; very limited. I felt confined to just moving certain places and doing certain thing. The fight scenes are rediculous; I didn't feel like I was really doing anything. There are no creative ways to move around or do anything in this game. A very poor excuse for a game.

great for a while

This is one of those you watch the movie and your ready to play a lord of the rings game but after the sheer novelty wears off it becomes verry repetative and it's soo short Iwould not reccomend this game.

This is the best game I have ever played on x-box! It has top notch graphics and the fighting and bad guys are pretty cool to. I only have 3 bad things to say about this game.

1. The camera can get frustrating at times, like once I was fighting a troll and could'nt see myself because it was infront of me.

2. All of the characters can take 15 hits from an orc, but can't take 2 seconds in fire without dropping dead.

3. And finally, the game is just to god dang short.

But besides that the game is almost perfect. After you beat the normal 12 missions theres a 13th secret mission and a secret charachter to unlock. And after you beat that, there are secret codes. This is a great game for any LOTR fans, or just for someone who's looking for a good game.

Electronic Arts like so many before them could have taken this licence and released a title that blatantly cashes in on the name, producing a lacklustre bland title with only passing resemblances to the characters and plotlines of the film.
They didn't. Other developers take note. This is how a movie conversion should be done! Its a cliche maybe, but in this game, you really do play the movie. Quite literally infact, as one minute you're watching a key scene from the movie, and then almost seamlessly the film transforms to game graphics and you're fighting in the scene.

What you get for your money, is lovingly recreated scenes from the film, amazing graphics, the best use of sound I've heard on a game, including all of the original actors voice talents, great gameplay, hoardes of blood thirsty orcs and other middle earth denizens to slice and dice your way through.

The action is fast and furious and sometimes there are so many enemies on screen you can, forgive the pun, lose the plot. You start off with very basic moves, but in the best gaming tradition, you can learn more moves as you progress into the game, culminating in some great combos.

Add to all that character development, choice of three characters, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, all with their own strengths and weaknesses, the unlockable extras (a nice touch), and what you have is a whole lot of fun. Ok, so its not the most cerebral of games but it is a helluva lot of fun which is what gaming all about!

My only reservation is the longevity of the game but thats a minor point and the only reason I gave this 4 not 5 stars. A quality title and one of the best Xbox games around.

After seeing this game over my nephew's house at his Graduation party I was so impressed I bought an x-box and this game. I was not disapointed with either.

The game seemlessly intergrates with the movie switching back and forth effortlessly to reflect the situation before and after the battles.

The interviews are interesting as well although Frodo's seemed more contrived than the others. It was a bit of a hoot listening to both Ian McKellen (Gandalf) who I've seen in many movies and John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) who I first saw as Macro in I CLAUDIUS try to relate to video games and working on one when neither one had played one was interesting.

The game itself is a walk through the first two movies with an extra scene or two and several extra explosions.

You play Aragon or Gimli (poor missle but more strength) or Legolas (great arrows weak Hand to hand) Aragon is the middle ground.

If you are a big battle gamer it may seem an ok game the real star of the show is the intergration with the movie. The game really gives the feeling that you are watching the picture and making it happen. That is its strength.

Warning, if you are an old guy like me it will give you sore hands for a bit, but its worth it.

this game is hard but it rocks
