Holy cow--this game alone justifies an XBox system purchase!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 27 / 33

I played the first Lord of the Rings game for the XBox and was a little disappointed. The graphics were good--nearly everything on the XBox exceeds what you can get on the other platforms--but there was something about it that felt "ported" from another platform. As a result, I felt like the potential of the game was never reached.

On the other hand, Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers is DAZZLING! The game play is noticably improved, and the graphics are literally jaw-dropping. I have never seen a graphical adventure game that has the resolution, color and quality of Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. I think this will be one of those rare video games that people hang onto for years and stays in demand well down the road as so-called "newer and better" games and systems come around. In this regard, I would think the purchase of Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers is a pretty smart investment!

Tolkien enters the world of console gaming!

For a true Tolkien fan, this game is a masterpiece. It focuses on hack and slash action (nonstop, except cutscenes) based on the first two new line cinema movies.

Graphics: Player models are good, sometimes funny to look at though. The game beautifully blends scenes from the movies with the graphics from the game.

Sound: Soundtracks from the movies, combined with all the original actors voicing the characters. Dolby Digital 5.1 makes this a realistic experience, swords clashing all around you. It doesn't get much more like the movie than that!

Story: Exactly as Tolkien made it. The game is told by Aragorn talking to Eowyn (I think) and telling her of his adventures.

Gameplay: Excellent, I couldn't be more pleased with the tremendous action that makes you feel like a part of the Fellowship. You upgrade your weapons (and life) and earn more moves by purchasing them with upgrade points that you earn after each level. The better score you got in the level, the more upgrade points you recieve. I would have liked for the game to not be so restrictive. Some of the time it feels like an old fashioned side scroller, for you can only move left and right, even though the "real" world is still untraversed. The parts which allow you to move freely are small, I would be more pleased if the game allowed you to go more places.

Replayability: Excellent. This game is beat on "easy" in very little time, but you can unlock a bonus mission and a secret character with more playing. There is no multiplayer :( I would have liked cooperative. The thing I like about this game most would be that whenever I feel in a "Tolkien" mood, I just put in the Two Towers and enjoy the storyline and action sequences over and over again.

Great game! Kept me by the TV for a long while, but rent if you have any doubts about it.

WOW! PS2 watch out, XBOX is right on your tail!

LOTR: The Two Towers was on of the best games i've ever played! I played the game on PS2 the first time and it was incredible and i fell in love w/ it...but of course, it will be much better on XBOX((the graphics, gameplay, music...etc.)) I am a huge LOTR fan and this game made me tingle inside!! this game was phenomenal!! you start out the game playing as Isiuldor at the foot of Mount Doom moments before he keeps the ring like a total jackass. then you venture forth as either Gimli((cousin of Bailin)) Legolas the elven archer, or Aragorn((strider))... you have the choice betweeen each level to choose who you would like to fight with depending on each characters personal combos and speacials. the game features many cut-scenes going from movie to game flawlessly! each time after you complete a level you have the choice of new powerups depending how you did on the previous level. this game is a definant keeper...buy the game...you will fall in love with it from the 1st orc arm that falls to the ground, from the tens of thousands of orcs marching at you! i hope that i helped parents AND especially...the gamers of 2morrow!!

First of all I would like to say that I very much enjoyed the medal of honor series by EA and think that they have worked their magic once more with this game. I was alittle skeptical to play this game after being teribly disappointed with The Lord of The Rings The Fellowship of the ring. Dont let this discourage you! First you can play through major action senes from the first two movies and play as the three main action heroes from the first two films: Aragorn the Human, Legolas the Elf (my personal favorite), and gimli the Dwarf I think that this game is terific in these respects 1)Graphics are terific! I didnt know that I was playing until Gimli started yelling at me to watch out!!!! 2)Controles are easy to master except that the camera can get kinda hary, at times you are trying to shoot at enimies that are off the screen. 3) gameplay is well done in that the storyline is the same as the movies except this game is begging for a multiplayer mode (hint to game developers) that they will hopefully put in their next game The Return of The King.

Review:
Graphics: 5/5
controles: 4.5/5
gameplay:4.5/5
overall 4.5/5 (Coulden't put 4.5stars on my review so i just gave it a 5).
A must buy for any XBOX, PS2, or NTG owner!!!

The Two Toweres is action-packed, and full of excitement.

Oh yes. The video game based after The Two Towers movie is here on Xbox! Play as characters Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, as they fight their way through orcs, goblins, and trolls. Unlock the secret mission and secret character! Also buy new upgrades and advance levels with your expeirience points! This game is very challenging, and may take you a while to beat a level. But that's part of the fun, isn't it? If you think the price is to [spendy], and the game won't last you a day, listen to this! I am a pretty expierienced gamer, and it took me more than a month to beat this game! All in all this game is great. Did I mention the graphics? Breathtaking. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you would be dumb not to buy this game.

THIS GAME FINALLY DOES JUSTICE TO LORD OF THE RINGS!

I'm sure that many people out there have wondered that same thing I have: why can't game makers make a good game with the Lord of the Rings license? Well, this game finally does it!

You start out with the same movie beginning as the Fellowship of the Rings. The first level is as Isildur. It is kind of like a tutorial.

After you beat that, the game really begins. You can chose to be Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf, or Aragorn the Ranger for the following 12 levels. The levels go from the fight on Weathertop to the Battle of Helm's Deep. During the level for every kill you get experience points and a rating of fair, good, excellent, or perfect. The more experience points you get, the more moves you can buy.

Now, about the actual game. The graphics are AWESOME!! They look exactly like they do in the movie. The Xbox really has the best graphics for this game of all 3 systems. The backgrounds look realistic and like they were directly pulled out of the movie. The loading times are quick, getting you right to the action.

The sound is great, from the Fellowship of the Ring movie. What is also a nice addition is that the actors from the movie really do the voices in the game, making it sound genuine.

The fun value is tremendous. I mean, who wouldn't want to face endless hours of hords of Orcs coming to meet your blade?! Even though the game is a little on the short side, and I mean a little, it has tremendous replay value. The 3 players you can play as add enough replay, but you can also purchase moves and unlock interviews and stuff with the actors!! The video of Elijah Wood seeing himself in the game is worth the admission price! Also, 3 different difficulty levels are in the game.

All in all, this is a very fun and well balanced game with lots of reply value. If you are good enough, there is even a secret level and character! This game is a good game for Lord of the Rings fans and just plain video game players. I highly recomend this game. It is definitely worth [money] to buy.

Get. This. Game. When. It. Comes. Out!

In The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers you can control Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, or Isildur (only in the first mission and as the secret character.) Legolas (my personal favorite) is a speedy elf who uses his long knives (yes i know they are a bit too long to be knives) and his bow to make his way through Middle-Earth. Gimli, a quite different character, is more concentrated on melee attacks and using his battle axe (his projectile weapons are smaller hand axes.) Aragorn is a mix of the two, using his sword and his bow combined with his decent speed and also good attacks to fend off orcs, uruk-hai, trolls, and all the other creatures. There is a great upgrading system as well. You get a grading on how well you battle each enemy: fair, good, excellent, or perfect. The points are totaled up and you get that much to "spend" on moves, weapons, and upgrades. I resent that it is a pure "hack-and-slash" game although many people think that. There is a good variety, i think, so you will have to, for example, battle bosses in a different way and other things. There is plenty of action, however. The missions are sweet! They're filled with exciting things to do, places to go, people to meet, and, of course, enemies to rid. People say that it is over too quickly but i would like to see them beat it in three hours or two hours or whatever they think they beat it in. I know all this because i've played my friend's Ps2. Xbox will take full advantage of this masterpiece by EA.
Graphics: 10 out of 10
Sound: 10 out of 10
Gameplay: 10 out of 10
Extras (hidden stuff and features): 11 out of 10

Biased? Naw, i'll just go with "flawless".

One of the BEST games on XBOX to date!

WOW!!! This game coincides directly with the 1st two movies. The game play is amazing, with the ability to choose from Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. With the different abilities of these characters it is almost like having three games in one! This game reminds me of Golden Axe (old SEGA game), with much better graphics.
One of the best features of the game is how it introduces each level with clips from the movie and then puts you right into battle from that clip. I was vey upset with the boring nature of the first LOTR game, but this one is an official product of the movie, while the first was intended to be based more so on the book. You may be able to beat this game within the first week of owning it, but it is the sort of game you will want to play over and over again! ENJOY!

Prepare yourself

Prepare yourself for this game. It's unbelievable. The graphics are the best I've EVER seen on any video game and the game stays extremely close to the story line of not only the Two Towers but incorporates part of the first movie as well.

Its play is wonderful -- from the easy levels that prohibits frustration with new game players so that they're not killed off in two seconds into the game (thereby chucking the game across the room and never playing it again) -- to more challenging or expert levels for the advanced game player.

It seems one of the great advantages of the XBOX is its processor and this game takes full advantage of that. Seamless movies interspersed with game play creates a game that is truly a story-telling adventure. You feel immediately immersed into the game and the "interruptions" of movie clips don't seem invasive.

Get this game. Get this game. Oh boy, get this game.

Then tell your friends and family you'll see them in a couple of weeks.

The Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers is one of the best games in history! This game was wonderful on PS2 and believe me it's going to be a lot better on XBOX.The graphics will be so much better and it's going to have multi-player options. This is the best simply because the gameplay is absolutly extraordinary. In The Two Towers you have you have levels from both of the first two movies. So that means you get Ringwraiths(Black Riders),the Watcher in the Water,The Cave Troll,The Fighting Uruk-Hai, and best of all the Battle of Helm's Deep. You have defeat all of those with either Aragorn,Legolas,or Gimli. You could be the quick, bow and arrow shooting elf,Legolas,The short, axe skirmishing dwarf,Gimli,or a combination of the two in Aragorn. This game has excellent sound ,gameplay, and graphics and is sure to be on of the best of all time.
