Wow. What a great game. If you are wanting to show off and showcase your new system. This is the game to do it. Kameo is good. THis is the best. Does it compare with Halo? Absolutely. The graphics are incredible. You will not have this kind of graphical experience on any current generation hardware. Only Xbox 360 can provide it. This game has a great co-op mode to play the whole game in either by split screen or by Xbox Live. This is no ordinary co-op either. Sometimes you don't even start in the same place on the level. the story is meh. But the action and the graphics and the gameplay more than make up for the story.

Bottom Line: Buy this game with your new XBOX 360. If you need two games, get this one and Kameo.

THis game rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this game on November 22nd, when the Xbox 360 first came out. I liked it at first. I liked going level through level doing the missions BUT, the game is ONLY 13 missions? What trash is that? That is WAY to short in my opinion, but thats just me. Fun wise, this game is pretty fun, the guns and shooting is good. Could have been a little better but good enough. Good choice and range of guns. Good choice of missions and they make sense etc. The single player I think is better than the multiplayer, I wasnt shocked when playing the multiplayer it isnt nothing.

So get this ONLY, if you want a decent shooter, a game that is long enough, I RECOMMEND DEFINTAELY that you "RENT" this game first and foremost. Dont buy it first, RENT IT. I bet if your a good enough gamer you could beat this within 5 days lol easily. I beat it in ONE day so there you go.

Graphics - 5/5

Perfect Dark Zero is one of my favorite release titles for the XBox 360. The graphics are gorgeous, the main character (female!) has personality, and it's a good combo of shooting, stealth and puzzle solving.

We've been of course testing all of the release titles, but we keep coming back to Perfect Dark Zero just for sheer fun of gameplay.

First, the basic mission tree. You are Joanna Dark, daughter of a bounty hunter who follows in her father's footsteps. You're athletic, nimble, smart, and maybe a bit fool-hardy. The game is set in the future (Joanna was born in the year 2000) and you get an interesting mix of locales to explore as you take on your assignments.

The graphics in this game are simply GORGEOUS, as you might expect from the XBox 360. I highly recommend you play this on a HD TV - I've done screenshots comparing HD to low-def and the difference is rather impressive. The water ripples, the light plays off the rippling water, the rippling water reflects on the textured brick wall, you name it. You get red and blue lights shining down from the ceiling and the lights color their surroundings and even combine where they cross.

There are of course some amusing issues - this still isn't photo-realism of course. There are times that a red laser beam has slight "ripples" in it, for example. Still, the quality is far better than anything else on the market.

I suppose you could complain that Joanna goes running around in high-heeled boots and low-cut pants, but heck, I was impressed that her chest size was reasonably normal. Compared to most other video games out there, with their mostly-naked women with inflato-boobs, Joanna is quite demure!

The sound is aiming for a James Bond feel here. I think that is pretty clear from the intro credits. You get a boppy rock soundtrack through much of the game. The dialogue is reasonably well done, and you can't really say much about how gunshots sound. They sound like gunshots.

Gameplay is a mix between Splinter Cell and a FPS. There are times that being stealthy and quiet really pay off. There are other times that just running fast and blasting away will work. There are cool lockpick puzzles, too. I do get frustrated that you can't "jump" though. I'll see a nice, inviting open window at less than waist high, and I have to walk right by.

I have mixed feelings about co-op mode. On one hand it's fun to have two females working side by side and taking out the enemy. On the other hand, if one person decides to quit, it shuts down the whole mission. I really like it on other games where a person can pop in and out as necessary. This especially is helpful if a less experienced gamer is stuck and needs help just for a short while.

There's also deathmatch style gaming available, both on local gameplay and XBox Live. This lets you sneak around and head-shot your enemies with great glee.

We've played this for many hours and haven't noticed any problems with lag or crashing. There are certain moves that don't happen instantly - for example, when you shoot from cover, you have to wait for Joanna to "rise from a crouch" before she fires. This is quite realistic. The game also has cinematic sequences when things go into a Matrix-like slo-mo which seems to be in many current movies.

If you play this game on easy mode, you can probably zip through all the missions in a single very long gaming session (say 14-16 hours). The harder levels of difficulty are of course more challenging. Really, though, all single-player gameplay is is just a training mode to help you prepare for live gameplay. Once you've gotten your skills sharpened on the computer players, prepare to take on the real challenge, with real live opponents!

Highly recommended.

This game is good....you guys are just halo nerds

Why are you guys bashing this game? Theres nothing wrong with it! Just because Halo 3 is not here yet and this isnt exactly the same you think its crap. Oh and this is more realistic looking than Halo because in Halo you are some man in a green space suit shooting at aliens and flying cockroachs, how can that look more "realistic" than this?

I loved the first perfect dark and this ones fun to. Dont sit here and bad mouth it just because you cant have your halo fix right away.

Sure, the graphics could probably have been a bit better. Go see Call of Duty 2 in a store display and see the potential this system has but I do not agree with some of the more belligerent reviewers. Played on an HDTV and with digital surround sound it will make you feel almost part of the action allowing you to sense footsteps, dripping water, and most every other part of the environment including easily discernable acoustic differences in sound depending on the orientation of your character. For those who feel the controls are sluggish, try increasing your axis sensitivity. You will find quick movements like we all expect. It's not Halo, nor is it Golden Eye (N64), but then again it never purports to be. This game stands firmly on it's only two feet as an action shooter. Don't believe me, try clearing the Hong Kong night club with dual pistols and a shotgun; this is what a shooter is all about.

Perfect Dark Zero is one of the launch games for the X-box 360. First of all, launch games rarely take advantage of the full power of new consoles. Perfect Dark Zero is no exception. The biggest complaint is that the story mode is really cheesy and almost no fun to play. You get treated to a lot of pointless story plots and poor dialog which is so bad you might want to turn the sound off while you play. The character design is also really spotty, and I feel that they could have done a better job on a next generation console.

On the plus side, the deathmatch option is a lot of fun. The scale and design of the maps is wonderful and they look beautiful. You can also mix up the multiplay by adding bots. Since most people use FPS for deathmatch rather than the story mode, I can recommend picking this up until something better comes along.

PDZ Is Good Shooter, But Rare Can Do Better

I have been waiting for this game to come out for six years (boy has Rare ever gotten lazy), and I must say that for the most part PDZ has made the wait worthwhile. Sometimes I wondered if this prequel to the Nintendo 64 smash hit Perfect Dark would ever see the light of day. Originally planned as an early second-party title for the first Xbox, PDZ has finally arrived - and it is definitely one of the killer apps for the 360 so far (also buy Call of Duty 2 and Project Gotham Racing 3 - they're great).

GRAPHICS: 5/5 -
If you are looking for a game that will really impress your friends, buy this game. The environments are silky smooth, the guns and gadgets are first-rate. The only thing that could have looked a little better are the enemy character models, but really the visuals of PDZ are so smooth that you won't care what your enemies look like - especially when theyr're as smart as the a.i. in this game.

AUDIO: 4/5 -
Set in the near future, PDZ offers all of the techno, synthetic "future-ee" sounds you would expect. The sound effects - gunfire, footsteps, etc. - are top notch in their own regard. If you are lucky enough to have a tv or receiver that has digital capabilities, the difference is amazing, and actually more noticeable than I thought it would be. But, believe me when I say that the 360 games sound great no matter which connection you use.

CONTROL: 5/5 -
The controls are fantastic - as long as you swith out of the default settings. The default controls simulate those from the original Perfect Dark, which now feel miserably outdated and clumsy - inverted look controls where you push down to look up and using the right stick to navigate just don't compare to the newer setting revolutionized by Halo. When I started the first mission and realized how bad the controls were, I went to the options menu and selected the second control scheme - which you will notice by its name is the original intended layout for the game. Needless to say, after making the switch the game controlled like a hot knife through butter. The only actions that seems to be difficult to pull off effectively (like triggering a infrared motion sensor) are the stealth "gymnastics" (my word, not Rare's) to slip between infrared laser grids. No matter how many times I've tried, I can't seem to start from a position that allows me to slip through undetected like the move is supposed to. If you are a big fan of the Halo series, you will feel right at home in PDZ with the secondary control scheme.

VALUE: 4/5 -
Other than Project Gotham Racing 3 this is the only 360 title that can be owned for $50 (as long as you opt for the standard edition - special edition in the pretty metal case ala Halo 2 goes for sixty bucks). The only thing that could make PDZ more worth it is if Rare had employed a better, actually involving story line like it did in the previous edition. The story for PDZ is enough for it to get by on, but fans of the original who are expecting the same movie-like treatment may be disappointed. Otherwise, this is THE app to get for 360 if you are only planning buying one, or if you can only budget for one title - as long as you are old enough to buy it / play it. If you can't get PDZ but crave some shooting action fear not, because Call of Duty - rated T for teen - is also available.

OVERALL: 4.5/5 -
It seems that all of the action-game hype has been focused on Call of Duty 2, but PDZ is entitled to its share of the spotlight. While the story is lacking, the action itself is so engaging that you could play just one level over and over with the different weapon/gadget configurations available and not get bored.

Man do I love this game! I love the cover ability. It's so awesome hiding behind a wall then poking your head out in sniper mode and blasting a cap in a dudes head. I've been hearing complaints about the amt of ammo it takes to kill people and i am saying they're fing crazy. it takes two to one shots to someones head to kill them so just aim for there head. Problem solved. I also love the amount of stats it keeps for you. I don't really care about the story and i really wouldnt expect one with this much action in the game. I havent beaten it yet. I am loving offline mutiplayer and am excited to try out online. I highly recommend this to any fan of halo or any other good fps games!

I've waited since 2000 for Rare to introduce Perfect Dark Zero. PD on N64 is, in my opinion, the best FPS game ever created followed closely by Goldeneye for N64. With all of the power of Xbox 360, the online play with Xbox Live, and 5 years to figure out how to pull it all together, the boys at Rare really laid an egg with PDZ. Let me say early on here, that PDZ is by no means a bad game. The graphics are spectacular, the online gameplay works well. But it's only a good game. The story, the skill level, the lack of ability to control every detail of multiplayer games, and the fact that there are no features to "unlock" really dissapoint. Many of the clever features from before are gone and so is the magic. I can only hope [with mixed emotion] that some downloadable content is in the works for this title to help it out. In no particular order, here are my biggest gripes:

1) Multiplayer options and features are limited. For example, you cannot create your own character. You have to pick a "team" and your character will be one of the 3 characters from that team. If you jump online into different games, the games may have pre selected different teams than your preference and you get stuck being some random character.

2)Upon further review, you do have control over the weapon sets.

3) In multiplayer games, there are only two teams -- us and them. On PD it was nice to have several teams playing at the same time [I have two brothers and the three of used to each pick a couple bots and do battle against each other].

4) The multiplayer scenarios are also limited. Gone are King of the hill, Pop a cap, Briefcase. I enjoy a good kill fest, but sometimes you want to need think a little higher up the brain stem. Although, the DarkOps games do a reasonable job of
filling this need.
5) Missing are all of the skill challenges and individual challenges that opened up new features, new characters, new weapons in multiplayer mode, and more challenges.

6) The game is short. I finished agent mode in two days. I was stunned that it was over so fast. I am only about halfway through secret agent mode; but, it is so far the same game only slightly more challenging. No new tasks. I won't ruin the story for you, but I could sum up the plot in two sentences.

7) The game projects a lighted path on the ground if you get stuck. Now, this isn't a horrible idea, but it gives you an idea of the skill level required to complete the game when you can follow the yellow brick road (in this case, it's blue). I'd like to be able to turn this off.
