All the low posts on here are from ps3 fanboys. All my buddies have this game and it rocks. I have a ps3 and I really wish I had this game and a 360 instead. Go read the website reviews because this site is flooded with ps3 fanboys that for some reason want their system to win.

I love it - it's awsome

I bought a 360 just for this title. It's worth it. The gameplay is excellent - smooth as silk. Worth every penny!

ive played shooter after shooter on the xbox 360 in search of a fun game. ive tried gears of war rainbow six vegas etc. almost nothing was fun at all. i kept wondering when would i finally play the game of my dreams? well let me just say i was also disapointed by halo 2 didnt think it was good at all. it had poor graphics. half the game you werent even playing as the main characther. and the storyline was poorly executed. but halo 3 does nothing of the sort and is really an incredible unmissable action game. those who have put this masterpeice down were just expecting too much because of the hype. if you dont go in expecting halo 3 to change the world as we know it youll find the title to be one of the most engaging imersive rewarding and incredibly stellar games ever created. THE graphics are so good they add a sense of realism or purpose. youll be able to enjoy a huge vareity of scenery apsent in halo 2 such as snow covered tundras huge deserts forests lakes reservation areas lava spewing caves and massive woody areas. the scenery not only expertyly creates an all encompasing atmosphere but goes with the action well this in turn forces you to keep playing. ive heard people say the weapons suck are you on pot? not only are theyre new weapons every weapon from the first game is improved. returning is the assault rifle from the original halo. but thees also the battle rifle from halo 2. pistol. submachine gun. rockertlauncher. sniper rifle. plasma pistol and rifle. needler frag and human grenades. sheild launcher. electroshock. usable flamethrowers. the brute shot. sentintal fire beam. and more. the veichles have all been vamped up greatly the former arsenal is there but there are also DRIVABLE phantoms. the new atv veichle and much more. the storyline is more in depth and the ending is just classic! how bout the multiplayer? you dont even have to ask do you? halo 3 is the best xbox 360 game to date. the best game in the halo series. and one of the most classic and defining video game experinces of this decade and all time. as far as the graphics not being as good as the pc i would say theyre roughly as good not any better but not any worse.

Master Chief enters the next gen

Halo 3 puts you back in the shoes of Master Chief as he attempts to foil the Covenant's plan to destroy earth by firing the Halo weapons. However he isn't alone as the Elites and the Arbiter (formerly of the Covenant) have joined forces with the humans to help. Anyway, the story gets a little crazy & confusing with the introduction of Guilty Spark (Halo 1), the Flood coming back (H1 & H2), some talking venus flytrap looking thing (which I assume is the leader of the Flood), the death of both Miranda Keyes and Sgt. Johnson, and more. Meh, oh well.

Theres almost nothing different between this game and its predecessors. You still run around shooting various weapons which include shotguns, sniper rifles, plasma rifles, handgun, needlers, the assault rifles, and more, while killing the Covenant forces. You will still drive vehicles like the Ghost and Warthog with your fellow marines. The only difference is that you can rip turrets out of the ground, there are some new weapons like the Brute spiker or the gravity hammer, new vehicles like the Hornet (human version of the Banshee flying vehicle) or the Brute chopper, new grenades called the Stick Grenades and Napalm, and the Elites fight side by side with you. Also you get these things called "equipment" which are kind of like new grenades but they work differently. There are a bunch of different kinds like the Bubble Shield (which creates this big shield around you and anyone in it and you cna't shoot out of it but you can't be shot at from the outside), the Gravity Lift which is exactly how it sounds, the power drain & regain which either drains your shields or recharges them, and others. However, theres no change in fighting style or anything... you just run, shoot, take cover, pop out and finish the job.

The multi-player is, where I assume, Bungie took the most time. Like Halo 2, you can party up with people, create emblems to distinguish you from other people, play different game types like capture the flag or juggernaut, and more. Unlike Halo 2 however, and a nice little addition I may add, is the ability to customize your character - and I don't mean just going from a Spartan to an Elite. You can actually choose different armor types and head types, but you have to meet certain criteria to unlock them. However, the multi-player is a bit bland at times.. I mean all you have to do is empty a clip from the MA5B assault rifle as you run up to them, and if your close enough, just punch them and they die. Meh.

Theres this new "Forge" feature where you can move objects within a level but I think that its sort of lame so I'm not gonna bother with it. Also, you can watch recent matches and campaign tries in the new theater mode which is cool.

There are a few flaws in the title. For one, in multi-player you can be clearly kicking the stuffing out of an opponent only to have him melee you twice and you die. On that same subject, there seems to be a bit of lag in response times from when you hit a button to what happens on screen - the best example of this is if Im hitting B to melee someone, and they melee me first because my character doesn't do anything. Secondly, like I mentioned, the story gets kind of confusing. Thirdly.... the flood... talk!!!!!!!!!! BOOO!!!!! Fourth, the AI can't drive for anything. Finally, the ending.

The ending was dumb. Basically you outrun this thing thats blowing up while fighting the Flood and Sentinals (sound familiar like...say.. Halo 1's ending?). Chief and the Arbiter hop into a Pelican and start flying away. While inside, Chief is braced with his back against some sort of object with the doors to the Pelican open showing nothing but space. Cortana says "Chief, what if we don't make it? It's been an honor serving with you." Chief responds, "Don't worry, we'll make it." (Halo 2's trailer anyone?) Anyway, the thing explodes enveloping the screen with white. Next thing you know there are Marines standing at attention listening to a ceremony by the Admiral or whatever about heroes and how everyone who died meant something to the cause... behind the Admiral is a tail end of a Pelican with pictures and stuff on it.. and 117 carved into it. This signifies Master Chief is dead basically. Anyway, the Arbiter comes out of nowhere and he & the Admiral talk while the camera zooms into the "117". Then a paragraph on how Bungie thanks all its supporters and fans is shown and the credits roll. Okay.. lame.

Overall, Halo 3 is fun but theres nothing really seperating it from its predecessors... in fact, it actually steals bits and pieces from them instead of bringing new ideas to the table. Although the game is exciting at times, and the multiplayer is kind of cool I will only give it 8.0 Spartans out 10.

Oh and playing co-op is always fun :)

I expected more from this game. Yes, or course, the graphics are improved. Other than that, it's a bit of a let-down. Played it this morning for over an hour at a friend's house and have no real urge to go back to it.

If you beat the game on legendary, you see master chief is alive, and he goes into the cryo-pod and says "wake Me when you need me" because they made it out right before it collapsed

ill first start off with my history with halo back in november 2001 i was first in line at the local walmart awaiting the xbox launch i froze my panties off that night only to get home with numb fingers to play halo and after 10 minutes i turned off my new xbox and felt cheated the game sucked. then some years latter halo 2 came out i decided ill give it another shot no waiting this time the game was available and i had my xbox which had seen little play other than for max payne and d&d heroes it was relatively unused and again 10 minutes and again i felt cheated the game once again sucked. now the 360 came along i got to camp indoors for its launch for my local walmart had become a supercenter and was open 24 hours so i waited warmly inside this time no halo it was call of duty 2 a much better game but far from great and now almost two years latter comes halo 3 and i refuse to waste my $ on this one there is no keyboard and mouse compatability the game just sux ill stick with real games like bioshock and rather than use the mediocre 360 ill play it on my pc where games look far superior. bioshock yay halo 3 nay

Lazy Bungie gives us a decent game

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers, Bungie got lazy when it came to sound effects, ally AI's and graphics of the story scenes. The sound effects are like the other Halos but I was hoping for better especially after playing Bioshock (which freaked me the BLEEP out because of the sound). The ally AI's are IDIOTS! I like that the enemy AI's are better and smarter but why couldn't they give you some control over your ally AI's (i.e. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a different type of game I know but at least you could tell your allies to defend or follow when you wanted them to). Your allies constantly go into ambushes and create chaos because they just go when they want and you end up losing them most of the time. Then they also cross in front of me when I am shooting multiple bursts instead of behind me so I accidentally fragged one or two. The graphic of the stories scenes are so choppy and the characters unreal its a shame. While the graphics for the rest of the game play is good, you get to these scenes and its like you are watching marionettes act out a scene. These are not XBox 360 calibur graphics! An improvement in this area would have been what the customers deserved! I also take issue with the fact that you don't get a chance to find out what happened to Master Chief after part 2 and before this chapter unless you got the comic book that tells you the story. What kind of none-sense is that? I haven't been able to find the comic so I have no idea what is going on in a general sense. This takes the passion and makes me less drawn into this world not knowing what is happening to one of my favorite characters in gaming. One other thing is I hate that you can only carry 2 grenades of any type, 2 weapons (HELLO haven't you people watched RAMBO?) and one type of special items(i.e. bubble shield). I would have liked to have had at least 5 grenades, carry 3 different types of weapon and 2 special items.

I haven't finished the game yet but I'm hoping it isn't as short as some people are saying and I hope that they give us a good story to send us off a little bit satisfied that we bought this game. If they did this I'll see about changing my review and giving them another star. If not, I'm never going to buy another Bungie game again because I refuse to give money and support to a company who doesn't give love back to the fans who have given them so much(ala cash) in the past.

Overall its ok, almost good, definitely not great or mindblowing. I'd give it 3.5 stars overall if I could!

didnt like halo 2 much and halo 1 was pretty good but....

i wasnt a big fan of halo 2. the single player was down right terrible. but halo 3 is a different story.

halo 3 missions are huge, boasting tons and tons of enemies, weapons, vehicles, etc. the power of the 360 allows this game to have epic battles and awesome gameplay and graphics. the graphics could be better but when in HD it doesnt really matter. it looks awesome... not gears of war good but good. the one thing that bugged me in this game is that your AI "co-op" buddy is the arbiter and he is as dumb as a rock. he gets stuck behind walls and you have to go smack him out of it.

i say if you have a 360 get halo 3. if you dont have a 360, get one now and pick this up as well. it will blow you away. the multiplayer battles are fast and furious, the single player is epic, and you have sooooo much replayability. it is a must buy for anybody.
