Best MMORPG ever made.

Screw EQ, this game is where it's at. I have been playing AC1 for around 4 years, had three accounts, countless vassals, and made great friends.

The gameplay is smooth because the graphics are just complex enough not to slow things down too much. There are always people on playing, huge guilds, people to hunt with, fellowships, great loot, great economic system, towns packed with people and countless quests. With monthly updates and patches, and a new expansion coming soon with a whole new server and an extra character slot per server per account, its definitely worth the monthly charge. I have tried EQ and DAoC, and went right back to AC1 after my trial was up... it's just that good.

Buy this game! (Just NOT USED, because once the subscription coupon is used, you cant get an account with the disk) and look me up on the Morningthaw server: Alani al'Aqbar.

more anticipated than EQ: Shadows of Luclin

From graphics, playability to social aspect this game really owns. I met some of the best people in AC. Met most of them in real life. They become some of my best friends.
Now back to the game.
Game offers wide variety of quests that suit players of each level.
Some people wonder if they start fresh and new that game is boring at the beginning (like most other online games). Well, even if you are new to game you will find a TON of content that will keep you occupied.
I personally find more fun in groups of friends and going around with em.
Socia laspect of game is very developed: information exchange, trades, hunting, alleigance meetings etc..
Player killing may seem somewhat cruel, but well its the way of living in AC. :)
And map? Can you say BIG? I mean really big. Even with "leet" fast running skill its till biggest map compared to any online game today
Downside: Some melee weapon skills (Spear, Crossbow, Axe) didnt get much attention so far so if you choose em you wil be considered a "gimp" in game.
Worst downside of all is that mages are far most powerful in game. No real balance in that.

Yet if you are looking for a game that offers great amount of fun with people online, AC is right choice for you.

Dr0l (level 100 Battlemage on Leafcull)

Great, well executed game, but....

Asheron's Call is one of the best online RPG's I've ever seen. The Dark Majesty expansion has only made it better. Once you first play the game, you'll be immediately addicted because it's very easy to learn the controls and you become involved in the plot of the story practically moments after starting. Gaining experience and levels is easier than in almost any other online rpg. However, ACDM does have it's drawbacks:

1. The monthly fee: most people don't mind paying ... a month to play ACDM, but for others, it is a major hurdle to get over, especially if you don't plan to play it that often.

2. Lag: the temporary slowdown of the game due to the number of people online can be annoying. If you're in town, you may be disconnected from the game, and if you're fighting, you can expect to be looking for your corpse fairly quickly.

3. Favoritism in weaponry: Blades and magic are totally supreme to all other types of weapons. Blades deal the most damage and rarely miss. Magic doesn't require a "weapon" and deals great amounts of damage consistently. Other weapons such as bows have a greater chance of inaccuracy and don't deal as much damage.

4. The Housing System: Houses were a great idea. Now when you had extra stuff, you could dump it somewhere where no one could take it. Except for the fact that they're ridiculously expensive and hard to come by.

All in all, however, ACDM is a great game, and worth your time and money.

AC The most dynamic game ever

If you don't like Asheron's Call the first month you buy it, wait another 30 days. With the ever changing content, you will never get bored. There are so many aspects to this game that make it the best I've ever played. Try EQ and DAoC. You'll like them, but you'll come back to AC. Don't try AC2 though. The graphics are classic, not cutting edge, and that's what gives it some of it's soul. It will grow on you, you'll have a favorite town, a favorite allegiance, and a favorite spot to watch the sunset in no time. Asheron's Call is for the serious online player who wants to be fully immersed in an alter-ego.

WOW

All I can say is, "WOW" this is the best Online RPG ever! I played Ultima Online, Everquest, Dark age of Camelot, Anarchy Online, and this is the best! You can do anything including hunt, be a homeowner, be a cook, alchemist, or fletcher, you can be a male or female character, the envirement is amazing, and eh everything about this game will make you drool including the allegiance system. You can even get your own apartment. The only drawback is the word "Gimp" in this game which means that ur characters skills and stats are bad hehe and that your character is weak but thats the only drawback. This is a must have game! I have been playing it since it came out in 1999 and im not even a tiny bit bored of it now, in fact im actually more addicted to it then I ever was before. And if you're a gamer who likes games with a good storyline then this is it, this gmae has an amazing storyline UNLIKE EQ and DAoC. Get this game! You must! You will be an addict for life or until AC2 comes out!

Definitely a great game

Asheron's Call DM is a very worthwhile game. The game interface is easy to use, compared to others that I've seen and worked with a bit. (Can anyone say EQ?) And although the mages seem to be overpowering in the world, melees can still get along quite well. The only thing I'd wish to see more of is houses and quests that make different types of characters work together. Other than that, Asheron's Call is a very developed game with a good plot to keep us running each month at patch time.

Probably as addictive as drugs - - - Only MUCH safer.

This game is addictive from the moment you get into it. There is a good death penalty if you do die, and you can still get your stuff back afterwards, instead of all your stuff being open to anyone to just steal. The allegiance syatem is great, most patrons will always help vassals. The controls are easy to learn, and completely customizable. the battle system is simple, but you can use quite a bit of strategy in battles to maximize damage. Overall: it's great, and most players are not player killers, so you don't have to worry about someone jumping out and killing you for no reason. And who says running around killing stuff to level up doesn't have a good reason? The experience system is probably the best out of ANY MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game[s]). You can practice any craft to gain experience. There are two kinds of experience: The experience automatically distributed to the skill used, and extra, 'unassigned' experience to level up other skills. The way your character can evolve depends on how you spend their exp. You can choose one of a few pre-made starting guidlines, or create your character's stats from scratch using the points given to you. If you want a stealthy, theif or ninja type character who can run from battles easily, you can specilize in running, creature & player assess, and sword, dagger, or unarmed combat to begin your game. If you want to be a weapon of brute force, max out your starting strength and endurance so you'll do plenty of damage, and be able to withstand plenty yourself, and specialize in Melee defense, Magic Defense, and a strong weapon such as sword, mace, or axe to get through hordes of oncoming enemies. The possiblities are almost LIMITLESS! You can even choose to be able to kill other players by worshipping at certain altars in the game, but then other player killers can attack you, but it may be worth the treasure you can earn. There is no end to how you can play your character in the game! I hope to see ya in the game!

After 1 hour playing Dark Majesty you'll be hooked. With all the Massively Multiplayer Online Games out there, it may be hard to believe, but there is NOTHING, not even everquest, not even Asheron's Call 2, that comes close to Dark Majesty. It's a true all time classic. If you're one of those people who played Civilization for years, still loves SimCity, can't forget Doom, and just generally can't EVER get enough of a good thing, then DM is for you. Don't miss your chance to play the best MMOG ever made!

Where was this game 20 years ago when I was throwing dice and painting little metal figures. If you were brought up on D&D, Tunnels & Trolls and Runequest this game(?)is for you. My son and all my friends (and his friends!)meet up online and form fellowships. There are tons of quests and new stuff to kill and loot.

For me, I want a condo in Qual.

For the faint hearted, stay out of Teth...
