The Absolute Best Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

This game is very addicting. It is a lot of fun, because there are tons of people to interact with. There are some rather rude people, but overall most of them are nice. Quests are fun with groups, but mainly I like to just hunt solo or with a friend or two. I highly recomend this game.

An absolutely beautiful island, fun to explore with challenging quests and a truly epic storyline. The best part about the game is that the developer, Turbine, adds new content and stories to the game each month.

There is truly no other game like this on the market today.

So addicting I just bought another account

Since receiving this game as a gift in June 2002, I have entered into a whole new world of role playing.
The game is never the same, you log off and the game world keeps going (just like real life will keep going while you're entranced within the game.)
I definitely recommend this game for players that love group interaction and role playing. Not necessarily for the younger player, but they could enjoy the game too.
There is diversity in experience, you can quest as a group earning points in fellowship or hunt alone. There is diverse terrain with ever-changing weather and shifts from night to day/dark to light. You can be an archer, sword slinger, axer, macer, mage (4 schools to choose from or combine) alchemist, tinker, even a cook among other things.
I LOVE Asheron's Call Dark Majesty. I have heard it surpasses the original AC and still reigns over the newer Asheron's Call II.
You wont need another game, ever, with monthly updates, new quests and such. I haven't gotten bored yet. Plus, you are playing with (and in the case of Darktide, against) other real life players, just like yourself. There is opportunity for social interaction along with some good wholesome monster bashing.

Confused

I've confused. I'm not reviewing the game, I'm asking a question that I think some new buyers of this game would also like to ask. One of the people who reviewed this game noted that there was a $9.95 monthly cost for playing this game after the first month which you get free. So what you are saying is, thats $120 a year, plus the cost of the game??? I don't understand...I thought you could buy and play. Mind clearing this up for all of us? Thanks.

Little framework....just running around killing things

I got Asheron's Call: Dark Majesty two days ago and am still running around confused(after many hours of gameplay). When I sit down at a game, I like to have some idea of what the game is about. The new player training is great: it's structured, you aren't just running around killing things, and you know what to do.

However, when you get into the game, except for a few quests all this goes away and you are left to "level-up" your character by mindlessly running around killing things. This is boring.

Diablo II, has an excellent storyline, structure, and actually makes you feel like what you're doing is for a reason or some goal; rather than killing just to get your character level up.

want to get this game to upgrade to a house? dont bother!!!

I ordered this game way back in august 2001 and sure enough Amazom had it delivered to me on the day of the release great Job Amazon!. Once installed I easily upgraded my Asheron's Call account (Now got extra copy for my second account)
Great new land mass to explore and some other good extras and if you like Asheron's Call your gunna love this add on :) I know I do already
If you have not played Asheron's Call and are thinking about it, well its a great highly addictive game BUT the major problem is you have to get used to Turbines way of thinking. For example they make it sound so easy to get hold of your own housing on all the packaging and in any advertisments.... The bottom line is with the housing, you probably wont get it unless your very lucky. They have designed the most underhand, backward and confrontational way of trying to get your own home so if you can stay online and ingame for 24/7 you might be lucky to get a house if not you wont :( . If your not worried about housing go get it it GREAT but if you do require housing be ready for a long wait and you may be dissapointed in the end. So If its a house you want dont bother it suxors.. POOR SHOW TURBINE VERY POOR SHOW INDEED ESPECIALLY AFTER ALL THE EXPECTATIONS YOU HAD US BELIEVE (...)
