Could have been better

Overall a good game. Great graphics (just right for The Monkey Island), decent controls you can get used to (point'n'click would definitely be better though), puzzles and humour in line with those in the previous installments of the seriers.

Some aspects of gameplay the storyline are disappointing though. For example, "insult fencing" is limited and usless, and "functional" replacement for it is downright boring.

The ending, and, most importantly, the epilogue sequneces were really disappointing.

Despite its shortcoming, it's still a good game, and I recommend it to everyone who enjoyed other LucasArt's quests.

I love Monkey Island! No matter what!

I loved MI4 just as much as the other ones. I didn't notice Elaines voice change(I know there was one), it didn't matter to me... I was always used to reading through everything in MI1 and MI2. But I would have to agree with everyone else on one thing, please change the graphics back to 2d, just like MI3! I LOVED THOSE GRAPHICS! People don't want reality MI, they want the good ole fashion cartoon MI! Lucas Arts needs to make a MI5, I would buy it the second it came to stores. I just hope they make it in 2d graphics, I think everyone will agree with me on that. The scenery is beautiful and the colors almost jump out of the monitor at you! But I still loved MI4! I am a loyal fan!

Great fun

I thought this game was a lot of fun. The acting was superb. You just have to love Guybrush Threepwood's ingenuous charm! The graphics were beautiful. It's almost worth playing just to see the swirly clouds in the sky! I see several reviewers complained about the 3D effects, but I thought they were very well done. The only complaint I agree with is the lack of mouse control. All in all, I highly recommend this game. It's brilliant and made my husband and me laugh out loud quite a lot. Great fun.

Great game!

It's a very fun and cool game. Sometimes you want to destroy it and sometimes you love it. Another thing is that more and harder puzzle and new islands.

Kind of a letdown

I have played all 4 of the Monkey Island games and excluding the graphics this one is pritty bad. The plot makes no sence when looking at the old games. Shure this is susposed to be a kind of "modern" pirate world, but when it is this modern it takes away from the whole plot. When writing the storyline for this game Lucas Arts certanly did not do their best work. I do have to say it was very amusing for some reason. It is not a game that I wouldn't recomend, it has good graphics, good music and the 3d tranformation of the Monkey Island world worked very well. It is the poor storyline that gets in the way of all of these things. Recomended.

It's Gr-rrr-rrr-eat!

This game is great, mind you I've only made it to the second island. It's especially good for all you people who have trouble figuring out the more time consuming problems because it comes with a "starter" clue book that can help you through the first couple secrets. I think that people who purchased and loved the other Lucas Arts great Grim fandango would also fancy Escape from Monkey Island 4. It features the same killer graphics, cool problems, hilarious jokes, and best of all ... an accompanying clue book. Now bare in mind that the clue book only takes you so far, I am wondering where to find the complete clues (Yes, I do want to cheat...), and am hoping that Amazon will pick it up soon. None the less I hope that you buy the game because it is loads of fun. Enough said I think I'll go play it now...

An excellent continuation of the series

I had my doubts buying this when I discovered that Guybrush and co. were converting to 3D. Would the game keep it's cartoonish humour and action? The answer is yes, it did. The new game is just as funny and colourful as the others. I won't reveal too much of the plot but basic storyline is that Guybrush and Elaine return from their honeymoon to find that Elaine has been proclaimed dead and so elections for a new governor are being held. As usual, you're Guybrush and your job is to set everything right again. And for every problem you solve, a new one presents itself. As mentioned before, everything's up to standard. The graphics and dialogue are fantastic, and the animated scenes are too. The voice actors give it their all, and once again Dominic Armato does a stellar job of voicing the nerdish Guybrush. If you like this series, go out and buy it now. For those who haven't played the other games, I would recommend you play them before this.

This game was very cute and a good follow-up to the last game. We did experiance technical difficulties with the game, but in the end got it to work just fine. The humor is a little different than the last game, and there wasn't enough Murray in it in my opinion, but the puzzles were still of the same quality as the last game. I thought the game was very easy to control. People have just gotten too used to the mouse. Don't listen the them. This game was easy to use.

The greatest quest game for the last couple of years!!!

I haven't played such a great game for ages, I was very happy when I heard there will be Monkey Island 4 (I played 1 and 2 but not 3), and the game is actually better than I thought. When I first heard about the transforming of games to 3D I thought that will just ruin them, but it actually made this game better, if you plan to buy any game anytime soon, buy this one!

Lucust arts has popped up with another good game. although the plot is a little weird, and some problems with the runing button being to close to the enter button(i ate half the pretzels in the first puzzle). This game was suprisingly fun and is by far the most complicated game i've ever played.
