Not Worth Buying

When I first bought this game, I thought it would be great. Well, it was the first time I played, of course. The poor aspects of the game are countless. If you jump from two feet high you will lose about 1/6 of your health. When jumping from ledges(which appears way too many times in this game) you will fall off if you are an inch off course, making most obsticles difficult and tedius. Also, the bosses are extremely easy...the game gets everything in relation to the book wrong. They completely leave out Dobby, the beginning of the story with the Dursleys, the writing on the wall, and Gildroy Lockhart being a fraud. Also, when Harry is viewing Tom Riddle's diary, he watches the scene in which Hagrid is expelled as if in a small T.V. They also make things that were fascinating is the book combletely dull by making them bosses. Also, the general plot of the game is brought up like a what-should-I-do-today concept. The game is also very short. My cousin beat it in a mere two days. Now, I'm not trashing Nintendo, I am completley faithful and want them to suceed, (even though Warner Brothers made this ...) but, for your own good, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! READ THE BOOK AND SEE THE MOVIE, THEY ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!!

It's just so cool!

I normally don't admit to this sort of thing, but I was addicted to this game. I bought it for myself, loved it and bought 3 more for my friends. I couldn't stop playing it. If you've played the first game and liked it, you'll love this one. If you didn't like the first game, which I was right there with you, I hated the first game and was aprehensive about this game, but I totally changed my oppinion about it 5 mins into playing it. Try it!

WAAAAAA IT WAS TOO SHORT!

this game is the best game I've ever come across since Final Fantasy X (though that game was a LOT longer) I got it this Christmas, and now it's December 27th, I beat it yesterday, so though this game is the all time game of the millennium, it's far too short. I like being able to fly outside at your own will and though this sounds mean, I like hitting Madame Hooch when I fly and casting Flipendo on her >:-)! But anyway, if you hate Harry Potter, get this video game, I can guarantee you it will change your way of thinking but as for the people who made it, NEXT ONE MAKE IT SO THAT IT TAKES LIKE TWO OR THREE YEARS TO BEAT! in other words, MAKE IT MUCHOS LONGER!

BETTER THAN SS!!!!

I got this game for Christmas. This game is AWESOME!!! You start off at the Burrow where you have to defeat a bunch of gnomes and a charmed washing machine. Then, you go to places like Knockturn Alley and Flourish and Blotts. This game is very cool and I recommend this game to everyone. I'll give it Gamepro-style ratings:

Graphics: 4.5- Graphics are VERY good, although they could've been a little more realistic. The lighting is superb and I like the fact that mouthes move with the text and they actually have fingers!!!

Sound: 5.0- The sound of this game is FABULOUS. Two things I like: the music in the background and the fact that Harry actually talks!!!

Control: 4.0- The controls are simple. As you learn spells, you can equip the spells to a button (ex: Flipendo can be used when you press square, lumos when you press circle, etc.), but the fact that when you're on a broom, you go slow, and thats kinda annoying.

Fun Factor: 5.0- If you REALLY like Harry Potter as much as I do, you will LOVE this game. When you finish a task outside the school (like on the school grounds) you are free to explore! Also, you can pretty much talk to anyone you meet. You can trade Famous Witches and Wizards Cards with other students, too! Some parts are hard, but hey, callenges are always fun!!!

WAY better then the first!

This game really kicks butt. The only complaint I have is that its just way to short. When you have to beat the monster, its really easy. The only hard part is figureing out how to kill it.On the first one,the ending battle is VERY tough, but this is pretty easy. But after you kill it,you have to do things to earn housepoints, and those are pretty hard.Overall, this game is awesome.SOOOO much better then the first!Remember to rent before you buy!Don't spend 50 bucks and hate the game!

Exciting Game!

This game is a hard game to play but worth it. Sometimes I get scared, like when the spider comes in. I haven't gotten to the snake yet, but my dad has. I am going to keep trying to get to the higher levels!

A Really Fun Game!!!

As you probably would have read from other reviews, this game's main flaw is the long loading time which can get a bit annoying (this accounts for the 4 stars instead of 5). Other than that, it's a loads of fun! I love the 3D graphics! It feels as though you're in Hogwarts. The game allows you to explore the grounds and school. You meet with students and teachers, and get sent on a variety of quests.

The level of difficulty varies from task to task but it is challenging enough for even adults to be kept interested. For those that are having problems getting past a level, I suggest getting a guide. There's a good one you could print out from gamespot.com by Arctic Rabite. It gives a very detailed account of what happens and how to get through. Just use it only when you're really stuck if not it takes the fun out of the game!

Awsome

I got this game for my son and i ended up getting hooked on it. But it is a little shorter than i had expected. Since this is my first PS2 Game i had some difficulty with some of the challenges but i beat it in a week. Better graphics than "Stone", easier to use the spells. Quidditch is a pain in the ... . Love Harry Potter, the game is very good, needs to be longer. If a novice like me can beat it in a week it definitely is too short.

Really great game overall

I got this game for christmas, and it was my first video game. Because of this, I didnt find it the easiest game..like other video gamers did, but actually it was kind of challenging (to me) at some times.
First of all, the characters are great looking and some of the voices sound like the movie actors' voices. The castle is great too..you can explore a lot of it.
I also like the mini-challenges you have. Sometimes, the challenges are annoying because little things can mess you up, or you're the one chosen to do it, and it takes a long time..but it's about something kind of stupid.
I liked flying around the school on the nimbus 2000.

Even though some parts of this game seem kind of pointless and not really related to the book (a LOT of things are taken out), this game is really fun and i recommend it.

A Big Disappointment

I love the Harry Potter franchise, and mostly because of that, I had high expectations for this game. But the reality was very disappointing. This has all the marks of a game that was hastily put together, on a low budget, with very little user testing. The general design is a completely linear series of missions - do this, then do that, then do the other thing, with no choices whatsoever. And if there is any one task anywhere in the game that you can't figure out, then the game is over for you. Lack of attention to detail shows up throughout -- for example, the prefects will scold you and tell you to go back to your dorm, but won't let you actually do so! As another example, Hermione will tell you to do some complex task, but only once -- better write it down, because if you forget the details, she will not tell you again no matter how many times you hit the Talk button on her (or, in frustration, start pummeling her with spells). I rarely give up on a game, but I'm giving up on this one after about 2 hours of play. Spend your money on something else.
